- The Conservative Party is warning that Labour plan secret tax hikes if they win the election, including targeting family homes, inheritance and pensions.
Tories have said the dossier undermines Sir Keir Starmer ruling out taxes on so-called “working people”, including VAT, income tax, and national insurance.
Talk’s Julia Hartley-Brewer discusses the story with journalist and Labour Party activist Paul Mason, who says these proposals are “not going to happen”.
“They haven’t ruled out certain things, but these specific proposals are not secret,” Paul adds.

Where are you getting this from? Not that I'm complaining I think inheritance tax should be higher.
But labour have no plans to increase inheritance tax and on a 400k house you would pay around 30k tax so your kids would inherit 370k.

Parking fines, ulez and congestion charges are not taxes stealthy or otherwise. Taxes and stealth taxes are things like poll tax or freezing the income threshold.
Parking fines were introduced by tories around 1960 as well as traffic wardens. And ulez again was under a tory government following plans made up by Boris Johnson. Neither of them taxes though.

Now people should know, if they scrap agricultural/businesses relief for inheritance tax, British farming will be done.
You may not care but farmers will be forced to sell 40% of the farm to pay the tax bill. Meaning that farm wont be a farm no more. This even includes large scale farms which will have a huge bill. So who going to buy these farms? Who? Wealthy foreners or the government who wont farm it, theyll turn the land into houses, definitely under labour who will use the houses to accommodate all the immigrants they will be welcoming in. Even if they don't who going to afford to farm in this country? You'd be surprised to learn farms don't earn nothing these day.
They remove that relief, not only farmers but business will be gone from the country over the years. No investment as all businesses will leave partly to do with this bill.

In 1997 I was convinced by Gordon Brown that taxes would not significantly rise and that there would be investment in public services and so voted for New Labour. I regretted my decision when Gordon Brown took money out of my private sector pension schemes.
Eventually Labour spent so much money that they were forced to sell the majority of Britain's gold reserves and also to sell many hospital and school buildings to bankers through public private partnerships. It was the conservative government that needed to buy back all of these buildings. This is why I will be voting Conservative in this election.
At least we did not return to the situation under Labour in the 1970s when the tax rate for the poor was 35% and the tax rate for the rich was 85%. This led to George Harrison to write the song "Mr tax man" to complain about a 95% tax rate which I believe was an exaggeration.
The plan to put VAT on private school fees shows that Labour is still hell bent on pursuing policies based on pure envy, even if they cost the country dearly. Increasing the cost of private education by 20% will definitely remove a lot of kids from private education. They will receive no tax on these kids, but they will then have to find more money to educate these kids in state schools, or see class sizes increase and standards fall even more. The best way to actually SAVE money, and improve both education and the NHS, would be to give tax breaks to those paying for education and private health care.

Right i live in a northern town with ZERO retail thanks to our neglectfull council and it takes me sometimes up to 2 hours to get to work because of traffic when it should take half hour on the bus and 15/20 mins in a car and thats midday! Houses are being built and there is no extra roads and its not possible build extra roads! And if im going into town it takes up to 20 mins just to get half a mile up the road because of 5 sets of bloody traffic lights! So its all well and good building houses that no one can afford by the way when we dont have the infrastructer for them
