I love that intense stare when hes thinking what to say. This guy is amazing. He said his dad was born in 1867? Thats crazy. This man lived til 103 so...makes sense

Wonderful interview. He passed away July 2021 at the age of 103. I am amazed at how many veterans of WW II live such long lives. Must be due to dedicated service to their country. RIP

I feel honored to be able to listen to this man's life story. I never knew him, but consider him a true hero, in a time when nearly everyone put their political differences aside to defeat 2 foreign enemies in a two front war. Rest easy, sir.

What a great life he led. I watch these and I’m just transported back to WW2 and I feel like I’m there. Their stories are so vivid and their memories are so good. I can’t believe how much they recall. I read the books by Don Burgett of the 101st and when he was asked how can you remember so much, he replies how can I forget? It makes me sad when I look these men up and see they passed away. Thankfully you got these interviews.

First let me say thanks Ray for this valuable historical series. You have such excellent skill in interviewing and giving the person his time to comment. Next let me say to the family of this most Patriotic gentleman how proud you must be. I would have liked to know him. God Rest and thanks for your giving your all.

This is marvellous. I'm sure Sam had forgotten a lot of these details but your exert interview style coaxed out so many gems from the back of his mind. The Dutch writing in tulips was seemed a very poignant memory for him.

After listening to several of these I've come to understand that many of these men from all parts of the United States had to work together to survive. I think that sense of commonalty made a huge difference in America.
