I watched this movie when i was 9 years old in 2006, and I had fear of going out of the house and sleeping - It made me realize that the world is a dangerous place
@@sielfriedtcleophaszebbygow2475 no it didn't. I find tsotsi brave. I lived in a rough neighbourhood in the Philippines when I was young. Yeah, I was different person back then.
This movie shows what Articles and Stories only poorly describe in words. South Africa while it isn't the worst place, ranking at Level 2 in the traveler warnings, it still is very much an 'everyone for themselves' survival way of life type of place. (Obviously the small population of well off and rich people have an easier life) This movie takes place in and around Johannesburg which is one of the biggest cities in South Africa. This movie is obviously not the newest in 2020 being 15 years old but still in today's day in age, this kind of stuff still happens. If this is a less dangerous part of Africa, imagine what goes on in the Level 3 and Level 4 areas of the Continent. This is a powerful movie with a great adaptation and look into poverty life in the South African Provinces
☆ ☆ Tsotsi ☆ ☆ Great movie Must watch !!!! One of the best films to chart a segregated urban geography, Tsotsi throws an unflinching eye upon the enormous economic and social inequalities that are expressed of many a South African city.
- Tsotsi is a positive movie, with a message of redemption. Moments of fraternity and geniality amidst the deprivation of shantytown existence.
When he asked him "why so you go on when you live like a dog" I think it was him negotiating his life. Asking him why he shouldn't just unalive him right now
We're reading the novel at school. I was aware that there is a movie but wasn't bothered to look for it. Only to find out when I was looking through DVDs at home that I once watched this movie when I was much younger... probably 4 or 5 years old. Now I want to watch it again coz I don't remember 98.9% of the movie. Only... The DVD is broken😫
''Je het een ouw man laat pis'' is what he says, it means ''you made an old man piss''. It's Afrikaans. My spelling may be a bit off as I'm more fluent in Dutch, which Afrikaans is based on. The old guy is mostly speaking Afrikaans, Tsotsi speaks mostly Tsotsitaal (Tsotsi language) which contains a bit of Afrikaans here and there, for example he say ''zoos een hond'' (like a dog).
South Africa has given us some great films. Makes me proud to be African. Lots of love from Zambia
Can you recommended some films?
