That Gambles cruiser is awesome. I believe that was the Dick Prennoeke axe he used in one man’s wilderness. I believe it was a gambles db cruiser. Awesome. Still one on my list

I remember watching the documentary years ago but that was before i was collecting axes. Then recently saw coalcracker bushcraft do video he made mention of it and the gambles cruiser he got because it was the same as Dicks. Very cool yo have one in my collection, too! A very generous bonus from Mike!

Thanks Brett! I hope you do as well. It's currently 16 degrees Fahrenheit and dropping along with a good bit of snow. Looks like it may be a white Christmas here 👍

haha I think I would have one less axe very quickly if I accepted that offer lol

    Beautiful Plumb! 5 pound Dayton!

I'm super excited to have it in the collection and appreciate Mike letting go if it. The thing is really a beast. When holding it, the head feels like a fire axe without the spike.

@@Nsvens89 No doubt! I love big Plumbs but any big axe head is so much harder to deal with. But it doesn't stop me from wanting them lol.

I will purchase the Plumb rafter, lol!

haha we may need to work something out. I do want to clean it up a bit first. I'm very curious what's hiding underneath the paint. I suspect its a plumb but am not 100% sure yet. The lines certainly look like it.

Yea buddy! I’m late to the game on this one! I’m ready for another trade brother man! It was an honor bro! I have a 5# CT fallers/splitter and I’m looking for a few things I’ll send ya some pics! Start making a list of what you’re looking for!
The EBay finds are mint! Finally found a true temper Connie in decent shape on its way to me LOL.
Still looking for a Tassie LOL
Love this community we got going btw!

We will definitely cook up another trade here. I do think lionhead had a tassie for potentially trading in his collection video! They definitely are harder to come by. Thank you again for the trade man!!!

@@Nsvens89anytime man, I actually had a Chance to sit with my wifey and watch the video thru. All those were def the way I got them - that Kelly’s finest cruiser handle was wild. I really think it was years and years of patina and oil - literally smoothed out from use! The GA cruiser def needs some handle thinnning I think you are 100% correct as that was a FS DB replacement handle shoved in that gambles LOL. (Unless GA always used thicker handles? You would know more than me, Gambles is one manufacturer I never followed and always forget about) those finds are 100% better off with you, not that I don’t love all vintage axes but you know the deal!
And you kept saying how generous I was!? Dude?!? You MADE ME A FREAKIN’ strop?!!! And gave me 2 extra Collins axe heads! LOL.
And shit, dude, you really have an eye for shit - I was telling the wife how spot on you were with handles and noticing everything regarding details of the heads - that craftsman boys axe literally was a “followed me home” from a page in your book !! As on my way home from work, OfferUp notified me about an axe for sale, this older dude happened to be right down the street, he told me it used to be rusty and shitty and he started cleaning it up, then let it sit and the handle just got warped sitting in his fathers garage he was clearing out - that is OG handle, but I had to clean it up somewhat before sending to you - and you nailed the fact that I took a scotch brite pad to it. Unforunately the lite green paint was GONE from rust and neglect and just was disgusting - btw, wish we knew more about vintage craftsmen. With all the logos, and then the green painted era - and all the diff manufacturers forging for them….would love to know when Sears went from Fulton to craftsmen- I believe Merit was the name in between. There is just so much we wish we knew! Once again it was a pleasure man, looking forward to the future.
Keep an eye out for True Temper Tomahawks and the Collins half hatchet, nail puller notch and all but NO hammer pole - just a regular square pole like any other Dayton or Yankee sb hatchet or boys axe. Found a few one eBay but not in the best shape - anyway, we could all ramble for days. Ttys my dude! And have a great holiday!

I just picked up a 5 pound Dayton as well. Probably going to wait till the spring to swing it, but my guess is it will make a man out of me

    • @Nsvens89
      @Nsvens89  8 днів тому

It truly feels like a monster! What maker is the Dayton you picked up? Have you already hung it? I'm very excited to have this one in the collection and I'm positive it would burn me out quick haha!

    • @mikenormandy9250

What maker is your 5lb Dayton? I love larger heads 4-5# and usuall see them in rafters but a Dayton is awesome, even a jersey in 4-5# is great! Looking to trade before you swing it this spring? LOL
