Shortly after i heard this song for the 1st time i was listening to the radio and this country song came up and the chorus was literally "This song is about a trunk in a field with a girls in a red sundress with an ice cold beer to her lips..." And i couldn't stop laughing i became obsessed with how ridiculous and right bo was xD
Bro your comparison to his country criticisms and rap made me intantly subscribe. You got commentary that I wanna se more of. Thank you for being here.
I couldn't agree more, Broadband's takes feel real and in my opinion accurately discern the creators intent and meaning. I've watched a lot of these Bo song reviews and Broadband's react videos, although not as long as some windbags out there, consistently fall into the top-tier.
After INSIDE, I think more folks will recognize that he ages like the finest wine. He's so smart. So internal, and puts it out like such prolific art. My goodness I'm so lucky to have seen Make Happy life.
4:24 It's funny you say that "I feel like rappers do that too" because Bo actually says something very similar in another routine of his. It's shorter than this one but it covers a similar concept and is pretty funny too.
I gotta say, seeing the joy on your face as you discover the force that is Bo Burnham in this video as well as more recent vids has warmed my heart to no end. I say that deserves a subscribe so I can see what else pushes your buttons. (in a good way)
You should check out all of his stuff. Also alot of people like "Straight White Male", "Repeat Stuff", "Sad", "Left Brain, Right Brain". Just to name some fun ones. There's also some of his newer stuff, "Welcome to the Internet", "All Eyes on Me", "Jeffery Bezos", "That Funny Feeling". I think you'd like all of them. Even ones not listed here. And I do see everyone suggesting the Kanye Rant: Cant Handle This. Which yes. That's a powerful one.
You mentioned the connection to rap music, one of Bo's earlier songs called "Oh Bo" does EXACTLY that, you really need to react to that one too, love this video!
Haven’t even watched the video yet just the intro where you mention Carlin... Bo burnham’s song “art is dead” has the line, “ we’re rolling in dough while Carlin rolls in his grave” really great song. One of my all time favorites and he wrote it when he was really young. That song has a theme that bo has continued and expanded upon over his career. It’s in this country song too, the theme seems to be the media industry is fake and wants your money (also ppl in the spotlight are usually self obsessed brats) While not the most original idea the way bo brings it up is unique and honest
As someone pointed out in another video and maybe this one the lyrics "Mike Evandering, fuck your ears I'm panderin." As in Mike biting Evander Holyfields ear off reference.
I laughed so hard at it’s an F’ing scarecrow again so many times I actually missed a huge bar that followed that statement. “Like Mike Evander’ing, F your ears I’m pandering!” Wow, what a great line! Tyson can bite your ears off I’m pandering! Bars!
Yeah. I disconnected from any and all country music when Jessica Simpson said she was a country artist. Girl has spent most of her life in Beverly Hills. She was on the Mickey Mouse Club. Rich parents. Nothing country about her. Even with country singers who are actually from country places these days, they're usually people who had no hardship growing up. They didn't sweat in fields. They lay their accents on thick when they sing, but don't normally speak that way. We get mad at cultural appropriation, but that's exactly what country music is now. The wealthy class stole it from people like Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton, Loretta Lynn, and Johnny Cash (and yes, I get that these people got rich, but had some humble beginnings), and if we're being honest, those country folk were heavily inspired by black singers and dancers who introduced rock and roll and rhythm and blues to the south. New country didn't invent it. They capitalized on it.
@@TamaraKane they chose country music as an easy in for themselves because there are tropes they can lean on to sound like they fit in. It’s akin to Drake being a “rapper” and talking about the streets.
His song "That funny feeling," describes exactly this. It's about the dissonance we feel, the disconnect, and the reminders of our hypocrisy, and how when we're faced with sudden truths about ourselves, we get that funny feeling, that discomfort, that question of whether we should feel just a tad bit responsible. And you know what else that feeling is? It's your mind ripping open to being more aware and alert to the world around you. Getting there can be painful. And then hilarious.
"Gotta tight grip on my demo's balls..." That is lowkey a genius lyric. In country music, crossover hits can make the artist not be taken seriously by the public. For example; Billy Ray Cyrus Achy Breaky Heart in the 90s. Garth Brooks at that same time refused to release singles because it risked them charting on the Billboard 100 as only released singles officially could chart. Meanwhile, he was selling Beatle's levels of albums. His first 3 albums went Diamond. Billboard changed that in like 98 so any random song on an album could chart. Which started happening to Garth Brooks so thats how the Chris Gaines thing started. But, that didn't play out like he originally planned. It was supposed to be a meta-character with an accompanying movie and documentary style backstory but the label fucked it up and it just confused the shit out of everybody.
One of the cleverest lines that's hard to hear on first listen is "Like Mike's Evandering, fuck your ears I'm pandering" which is a reference to Mike Tyson biting Evander Holyfield's ear off. Genius.
Please react to "can't handle this (kanye rant)", "oh bo", "I'm bo yo", "art is Dead" and his specials on netflix as a whole. Make Happy, what. And Inside are all incredible in different ways :)
You should check out his old ones that made him famous lol like " im bo yo" & "Bo fo sho" he's a trip lol And the best one from the blue collared comedy tour was Ron White! He's hilarious and is who he is lol.
Man aint this the truth. TBH most the new country artists cant stand us real country folks. they a bunch of stuck up rich folks aint ever done a real days in their life.
I live in a small country town and i gotta say, i dont relate with a damn thing in modern country songs. Im out here feeding my horses every night, diggin ditches with the John Deere, but none of their crap relates to me. Yknow who i know that listens to modern country? My old coworkers, who lived in the city and "looked" more "country" than me, because the saw country as a fashion type. And i get it, country fashion is popular with women, but i hated how they pretended to be cowboys, like when was the last time they were shin deep in horse shit just trying to get the horses out of theyre digging? When was the last time they went to bed with back pain from hand planting corn? NEVER. Theyre all fake
I mean shit, im from the boonies and i dont even listen to any "country" music. I love Dolly Parton and a few other classics like Dean Martin and stuff, but theyre so classic they stopped being country and just became "Classic"
"I write songs for the people who do jobs in the towns I would never move to" absolute underrated lyric
Like Pawnee?
Yup. That and the “a bud light with the logo facing out” absolute truth.
Bruh just reading this shit made me laugh.lol
The most under-rated lyric: "Like Mike's Evander-ing / Fuck your ears, I'm pandering"
Absolutely unreal that he came up with that.
It applies to musicians in every genre too. Perfect.

That would be Somethin' Bout A Truck by Kip Moore.
Check out his song "Can't Handle This (Kany Rant)." He nails the style perfectly.
YESSS
For real
It's over of my favs
Kany? oh yea, I know that guy. Kany Spellkanyeright, right? yea, that's the one. awesome name drop.
Now he has

I think his song "Oh Bo" is a similar one to this but towards rap/hip hop. He's great at what he does that's for sure.
Yes, that one is so good! Also "Repeat Stuff" as a commentary on formulaic pop songs.
Bo rhyming mandarin and what land you’re in is just ELITE
his ability to rhyme pandering is absolutely amazing
Bo is a goddamn legend.
A total fucking legend. I adore this guy. He cares about people with his whole soul.
After INSIDE, I think more folks will recognize that he ages like the finest wine. He's so smart. So internal, and puts it out like such prolific art. My goodness I'm so lucky to have seen Make Happy life.

Bo is hands down my favorite comedian/musician his songs are so catchy and the fact that they're jokes just makes it even better
I gotta say, seeing the joy on your face as you discover the force that is Bo Burnham in this video as well as more recent vids has warmed my heart to no end. I say that deserves a subscribe so I can see what else pushes your buttons. (in a good way)

Considering someone really wrote and sang a song called "she thinks my tractor's sexy" I have to agree with Bo.
Subbed. Just binged like close to 10 Bo vids on your chan. Love it.
"i write songs about riding tractors, from the comfort of a private jet" .......My favorite line.
still prefer less pauses but you're the first person that I stick around for. good job man keep it up
I don't watch reaction youtubers that often but your takes and thoughts on the songs were entertaining and interesting. I subscribed!
You mentioned the connection to rap music, one of Bo's earlier songs called "Oh Bo" does EXACTLY that, you really need to react to that one too, love this video!
BEST BO REACTIONS! Your vibe is great man
I like how you made the connection between pop country and modern hip hop. Subscribed with pleasure
I just wanted to see more reactions to this song 😄 so thank you 😊
“A rural noun, simple adjective” is my favorite part
Heck yeah, binging your Bo Burnham content. Love your stuff!
Just found your channel, love your reacts!
“Shoutout George Straight” 💪🏾💪🏾
Oh My God i cant believe you reacted to this... ive been telling people about this song for years... hilarious lol 😂😂😂

yessss totally!! i get the same vibe from some of his other songs. I feel "repeat stuff" almost shares a similar sentiment.
Good shit man freaking nailed it 😂 I'm a country fan myself but alot of these new country stars, not a fan good stuff man
Ayy let me give you the sub, always down to support the locals bro keep this grind up!
As someone pointed out in another video and maybe this one the lyrics "Mike Evandering, fuck your ears I'm panderin." As in Mike biting Evander Holyfields ear off reference.

subbed to u cuz of these bo reactions, really like your personality dude! =p
When I found out Keith Urban was Australian my trust was ruined forever.
It's even worse. He's Australian but born in New Zealand. WTF?! lol

God tier reviewer. Subscribed.
I love seeing you react to Bo in general but omg as a kentucky girl. This song in particular makes so much sense.
How did you not mention his 2nd chorus best line ever..."Like Mike's Evander'in, F* your ears I'm panderin'" ??
His new song from inside - welcome to the internet is good as well
Can I interest you in everything all of the time?
I remember feeling a bit uncomfortable seeing this one live....but it was so true and so funny.

Hey from GA!
oh bo !!!!!! is the same commentary but about hip hop music!!
Speaking the truth with George Strait shoutout what a legend
You made some great points here man 👍🏻

when you brought up larry the cable guy in had to subscribe
Gotta do "Oh Bo". He fucking destroys the rap/hip hop genre plus the song is fucking great. The ending is the best part lol
Not sure if you mean the song itself or the special... Either way, I agree. He absolutely needs to watch "Can't Handle This"
DO “How the world works” from INSIDE Please!!!!
Reminds me of that episode of The Boondocks with the famous rapper
You should check out his old ones that made him famous lol like " im bo yo" & "Bo fo sho" he's a trip lol
And the best one from the blue collared comedy tour was Ron White! He's hilarious and is who he is lol.
And words words words
@@lenaelisabeth Yes
Hell yeah
If you haven't--watch Bo's song "I'm Bo Yo" if you want to see some of that criticism of rappers not giving money back to their communities.
No wonder Ryan UpChurch f*ck it. Lol.
You should watch the whole specials, the individual songs are great but the whole specials are perfection
First song of Bo’s I ever heard was “Love is…” and I still think it’s my favorite to this day. Hitler line is gold
I like your vibe
Also artists are actually statistically more likely to have been born into well then to come into wealth through there ambition
New burnham song just dropped called all eyes on me from his new special. You gotta check that out man.
idk if it's the earring or the white shirts, but when you said you're from Georgia I was less surprised than I thought I'd be
He does speak on hip hop too, look up Little Teapot & Baa Baa Black Sheep (Bassboosted) - Bo Burnham.
You need more entertainers like Bo in the US!
my dad sorta likes country a lil bit i wanna show him this song but he'll prolly think im weird and shit
"F**k your ears."
-Bo Burnham
Dude I gotta see you react to Straight White Man by Burnham!
Like Mike's Evander(in) fuck your ears I'm panderin...Mike Tyson vs Evander Holyfield....Gold
This guy missed half the jokes, how is this a great reaction video 🤣
Why do u care
Words words words is my favourite by bo
You gotta watch “Straight White Man” from the same special as this song
You should listen to Corey Smith "if that's country". It speaks on this same topic.
hahaha i love this song
If you like that one, you should watch "lower your expectations" from the same special.
I feel like the Mike Tyson reference always gets missed
You need to check out upchurch can I get an outlaw, the difference between stadium country and real country
You should check out "Eat a dick" by Bo Burnham. It's not deep like his other songs but it's hilarious.
For the real real check out Bo’s Klan Cookout. Bo doesn’t pull his punches. And Words Words Words.
Watch BO YO and REPEAT STUFF ( the music video)
Do country music reactions if you're really not familiar, it will get a good amount of views.
You should watch his "gods perspective" its really funny
I just envision Hank Williams. Johnny Cash. Willie Nelson and Dolly Parton forming a gang to beat the crap out of every dumb stadium act.
That was funny
George Strait!!!!!!!
Check out “we think we know you”
React to CANT HANDLE THIS!!
This man definitely googled “old school country artists” to name drop George Strait.
Why do you say that?
Man aint this the truth. TBH most the new country artists cant stand us real country folks. they a bunch of stuck up rich folks aint ever done a real days in their life.
Bruh react to Havik - Wake Em Up!!
You might like Disturbed’s version of “The Sound of Silence”.
I'm from Georgia too Jesus is Lord God bless

im from rural kentucky i coudnt agree more new country is so bad its cringe worthy id rather listen to bo
