Thanks so much! So glad you like it! Haha When I sit down to write / record the backing tracks I usually try to do them in batches! The last 4 Plini inspired tracks were one such batch. Next up is a batch of Nick Johnston inspired tracks! Stay tuned! 🤘
Thanks for the comment! You're right-you can definitely hear the track gravitating around G, so playing in D Phrygian might feel a bit unconventional. That said, D Phrygian and G Aeolian share the same group of notes, so it can work if you approach it creatively! Sticking to G Minor or exploring the modes around G might feel more natural, but experimenting with D Phrygian could lead to some truly unique phrases. Happy jamming! 🤘
D Phrygian is actually the same scale as Bb Major. If you think of the Major scale modes from a derivate approach then Bb Major (Ionian) is actually the same scale as C Dorian, D Phrygian, Eb Lydian, F Mixolydian, G Aeolian and A Locrian. Dm/F also works because it implies a F Mixolydian sound (F13 ish without the 5th or 9th chord degrees) which is also can be found within the parent Major scale Bb Major. Hope that helps! 🤘

The gravitatorinal tonality is G , its hard to play on D Phrygian

I am confused... it works in D Phrygian... then I seemed to get better mileage in Dm/F... then I noticed you said Bb Major...

Feels more like G minor. theres not much emphasis on the minor 2nd on the D if it was the root per se
Yeah you are right, it definitely feels G minor-y as well. Cheers! 🤘
