Many people just don't know how scoring works in figure skating. It's not a dance performance it's a sport. Hanyu is great sportsman but this man's charm is so heavenly artistic in the ring. Just a beauty to watch his craft.

I'm not trying to belittle the other skaters, but believe me when I said he is the first skater to make me want to know and remember his name in figure skating. The other skaters only make me remember their country not their name. First time seeing he performed in olympic 2018 was so mesmerizing. Seriously, his performance is really beautiful and charming even thought I don't know anything about figure skating. And then I study his profile. No wonder that he have millions of fans in the world. He is resilient, dedicate, stubborn and push his limits even against the doctor order. I respect his dedication and discipline. Even I try to be resilient like him when I was having a hard time at work.
The fact he never gave up on finishing his performance and legit fought with the medical staff to let him skate and you can even see him in pain while skating but the fact he was so determined to finish just shows how much of passion he has for figure skating and how he didn't wanted to be a disappointment to the ones that look up to him and his fans just proves he is a real King

I remember watching his head SMACK the ice and crying out, covering my mouth with my hands. I remember him arguing with the medical staff to be allowed to compete, and whimpering a little bit each time he fell in his program. I was so proud and impressed, while also a little horrified. All in all it was extremely Japanese of him to insist on competing. I love him. He is a true idol.
His perseverance is what’s powerful here, also shows his strong will to skate. He’s so talented + his strong personality that I can’t even describe how great of a figure skater he is

I still cry when I watch his competition when he still got silver despite of his injuries. It was an accident, the athletes were warming up and yuzu got bumped by another athlete i forgot who is it. His head hit the rink, a cut on his chin and he sprained his ankle. His team was trying to stop him to continue his performance but he still did it. In figure skating, they have 2 performance. Scores will get combined after. He performed the 2nd w/ injuries. He fell so many times, he can't land properly bc of his sprain. I can still hear people saying "You can do it Yuzuru-san". Bc he fell a lot, he got a lot of deductions on his score. The difference of the score between him and the gold winner is not that far. His 1st performance score was already high. He still got a good score on 2nd. It's just that he got many deduction bc of the falls.
I'm so sad I only found out about this talented man just now. I wish I found him 10 years ago and follow his whole career. But I quess better later than never. He is AMAZING !! WOW!

I hope he can remain injury free, but each of those stunning turns gets harder as Yuzuru gets older (something he commented on himself 3 years ago already). Just a SUPERLATIVE contestant and sportsman par exellence!!!!
i honestly think that he's the best figure skater of all times. others may surpass his jumps by another spin but the way he is skating, the way he looks on ice, the way he makes it look effortless and beautiful, the way he transitions between elements instead of just dragging from one jump to the next, is unrivaled.
