Laurel & Hardy must be one of the first and certainly the greatest comedy double acts of all time and will always be so. The comedy was so simple and typical of funny situations that can happen in everyday life, which is why I find Laurel & Hardy so funny. Olly's face when he looks at the camera puts the finishing touches to the humour.
I was 13 when I first watched Laurel and Hardy...such a great influence, even though I was the only one my age who had ever heard of them...I laughed until I cried. I even made my parents name our kittens Laurel and Hattie!
One of those teams that were meant to be. It's incredible that they lived worlds away from each other, and that they were even born in the same era, and some how managed to find each other, and the rest is history. I think God loves Laurel and Hardy comedy!
the vox populi knows Laurel & Hardy more than any other comedy team or comic from the silent days of the movies - including Charlie Chaplin - up to Jerry Lewis - Laurel & Hardy stand the test of time and new generations - still laugh and howl over the comedy duo
No mention of Charley Chase? I read in a Charley Chase biography, he was already there at Pathe' studios when Stan went there, in the 1910s. After making 4 short movies, Stan LEFT THEM to do his act on stage again, at the Pantages theater! But later Chase went there,he liked his comedy and told Stan to come back to the studios!
Its fascinating to hear from a man telling about show biz life in the early 1900s.
you've given me so much laughter Stan I really can't say. You still are sorely missed. Thanks for the gift you had and gave to us.
Big fan of Stan laurel and Oliver hardy
Pure gold---Stan is a cornerstone of modern entertainment.....

Stan Laurel sounds like a very intelligent guy, very good grasp of the English language.
