My father passed away when I was 2+1/2 yrs old. My mom would tell me wonderful stories about their life, and how much he loved us. As I grew older the stories were less often. Her memories and life with him were hers and as the years moved on my mom remarried when I was almost 5. My dad, the man who raised me in every sense of the word, was everything my biological father would have wanted for his two very loved small children.

@@PatriciaMartinez-kn6ud It makes a great deal of sense and the same thing our pediatric grief counselors advised for our youngest children when my husband died. You keep telling them the stories of what DID happen with them and their deceased parent when that parent was alive, which they didn't retain in memory because they were too young. By doing that over and over, it gives them back their memories with their lost parent like if they could remember at that young age.
I agree I was 6 months preg when my mom died I was 19 and married when my son was born 3 months later I vowed to myself my kids would know my mom fast forward my son is now 45 my daughter 43 and throughout all those years I talked about her visited cemetery my girl would show her her dance moves my son would bring his report card etc they never met her but they know her My brother was 8 when she passed he’s now 54 and I continue to make him rem mom so keep on talking about her 🌻🌻🌻

I am so sorry. It is a heavy responsibility to keep Sarah’s memory alive. Your kiddos will thank you later. But it’s a lot. And heavy. There is a Sarah McLachlan song and one of the lyrics is: this glorious sadness that brings me to my knees. I never really understood that lyric until my losses. Breathe through these times. It will get softer I promise. You are going through all this with grace. ❤❤❤

Grief. A gift unwanted, but a gift just the same. It's given me the gift of seeing. I see more clearly, the pain of others. I see the signs from angels when I was blind to them before . It's given me the gift of hearing. I hear more clearly what people are saying or what they are not saying for that matter. It's given me new friends who also suffer through grief, to show me that I am not alone. It opens my eyes to my old friends and to value them and tell them how much I love them. Grief. It's been nothing but sad and tragedy last two years. I don't know but things are really different now. Major life things are happening. I know the sadness stays but the rest is rolling along.
