@radiohead2206 Yes and actually, he's still the youngest champ from his win in 86, by about 2 years...incredible! It's a record that I don't think will ever be beaten
Yes am here kkk. It was Boom Boom Becker who made me start to follow tennis. I hadnt watched any tennis match before 1985 wimbledon final so kudos to Boris for me. I havent missed any wimbledon since then.
He could have easily lost in four of his matches in that tournament (to Nystrom, Mayotte, Jarryd and Curren), had a couple points in each of those matches gone the other way. A statement about how cold blooded and fearless Boris was on the court, even as a teenager
Serve and volley tennis is so attractive to watch. The modern day tennis playing robots, slugging it out from the baseline have squeezed the life out of the once beautiful game.
In reality a very good match today (not all) is more various than just serve and volley. You can still find serve and volleys but also baseline strokes, drop shots, lobs and the full repertoire. To see just serve and volley all the time is not so entertaining.
@@ryancahalan2191 It is not that simple. Going to the net is risky,, you can be passed or lobbed, or you might have to hit quite a few volleys to win the point. The SAV players used to rule grass court events, did very well on hard courts, but on clay they were very vulnerable, Current players often overcomplicate the rallies which leads to entertaining but unnecessarily long matches., frequent injuries.
For sure. Life goes by quickly. Things that you thought happened yesterday, didn't happen yesterday. What's even scarier is, when you actually remember what decade they happened in and remind yourself of the current decade, you think "oh sh!t".
My favorite sportsman when I was a child, very spectacular game and drama prone personality (more like an Italian than a German on court). Could have won more if he did not have a long crisis from 91 to 95

Completely disagree. Serve and volley, two points and it’s over, tennis is so boring. The shot making and crazy rallies in today’s game is incredible.

Why Becker changed this serve motion?
It was perfect.
Did he? I don’t think so.
He changed it as he got older. His knees and back couldn't take that much bending. Brilliant when he was young.
