@@judemoreland3744 He believed what HE did was right, the Avengers do not believe it is right to kill half of 7 billion people to save a whole race but I really do like this ending because he is satisfied with what he has done.
I love how he doesn’t do any typical “victorious villain” things. No evil laughter at all. Just a peaceful smile. He tells himself he did it for the good of the universe but he only did it for himself because he has a god complex that has convinced him it’s his destiny to do this. He doesn’t even need to say “I am inevitable” - we see the words in his eyes here.
I remember when this movie came out I heard others say they hated it because of the dark ending. But I loved this ending. Rare to see a villain succeed and even rarer for them to be complex with legitimate motivations and feelings. Thanos was honestly the main character of Infinity War.
@@legrandliseurtri7495 no he does. He's not motivated by things like selfishness or greed. He's much more dangerous because he sees himself as a messiah. Meant to save the universe from the tragedy that his world suffered. Aside from his delusions, overpopulation and resource management are issues everywhere. So his desire doesn't come from an unjust place. Therefore "legitimate motivations".
Thanos- "This universe is finite; It's resources, finite. If life is left unchecked, life ceases to exist." Gamora- "You don't know that!" Thanos- "I'm the only one who knows that... at least the only one with the will to act on it."
I find it beautiful. His whole life he strived for one goal. They made fun of him and called him a mad man for suggesting genocide, a simple solution to overpopulation, and after the hard work was done, slaughtering half the populations of thousands of worlds he doesn’t do an ugly cackle, he doesn’t gloat or give a big dumb speech to the heroes about him winning. My man goes to a peaceful ass planet, with BEAUTIFUL music in the background (severe props to the creator of that theme) and takes in the sunrise on a grateful universe, and he can finally rest. Truly beautiful
the thing that makes thanos so great is that he has reasons for what he does, he genuinely believes that it's right, but he's still the villain. he doesnt just want to watch the world burn, he thinks that he's saving it, but his past clouds his sense of morality, and that's why he's still the villain
There is a book, it was supposed to be a prequel to Endgame but I think now is not canon. The book is called "Thanos: Titan Consumed" it takes some parts of the comics but it makes them new and with connections to GotG and Age of Ultron.
@@prismanic24 this is actually better than what actually gets nominated for oscars. In my opinion its the first movie since The Dark Knight that is actually worthy of an award like that but since its action film the awards dismiss that.

@@SuperAFHD Who's better? The MCU isn't known for fantastic villains. Honestly I think Loki, Ultron, and Thanos are the best. However; Killmonger, Ego, and Vulture are up there as well.
So notice at 0:24 on the bottom right corner that thanos has this armor up as a scarecrow like in the comics and recently in the new trailer for Endgame.
I like how they portray Thanos here. As a soldier returning home from war, weary and solemn from what he has done but satisfied that the end has justified the means and hopefull that in time his accomplishments will prove to have been the greater good.
Wave_Bend15 And then all the kids would get dumber and dumber because parents are too lazy to actually teach their kids basic shit. This is why school is a thing.
This ending is perfect. They could've easily ended the film with Steve saying "oh god" but they add this scene to really show thanos won and he achieved all his goals. We get to see him smile and watch the sun rise on what he believes is a grateful universe. He doesn't even say anything or laugh maniacally he just sits there contempt with what he's done
• Lost his people • Lost his planet • Lost 4 of his children • Had to sacrifice his favourite daughter • Left alone in a shed with a charred left side and a chest wound This journey extracted a heavy toll , but in the end , he fulfilled his goal
After watching Endgame I was happy because I know that Thanos died with the sense of accomplishment. It did not matter that he was beheaded! Thanos had already done what he wanted and was just waiting for the moment of his death, the Avengers only advanced! As for Thanos at the end of the movie, he still did not have all the maturity of Thanos from Infinite War, he was not yet the character we loved, he was not someone who kept in his goal a reason to continue living, on the contrary, he tried to burn a few steps to finish his mission and was penalized by it. Thanos won! No matter what happened next! He died in peace with himself and rested in peace and will be forever in history!
My friend died this past year (not by covid) and he just loved Marvel movies. I remember his reaction seeing this scene and I always cry thinking about it. I’m just glad Ed was able to see the end of the Infinity Gauntlet saga. Miss you buddy.
One of those endings that sticks in your mind. The somber music swelling as he stumbles to sit down, finally finished, leaving with a small smile. So well done.
Doctor Strange: Oh yeah. You’re much more of a Thanos. Thanos: I take it the Maw is dead. This day extracts a heavy toll. Still, he accomplished his mission... Doctor Strange: You may regret that. He brought you face to face with the master of the Mystic Arts. Thanos: And what do you think he brought you? Doctor Strange: Let me guess... your home? Thanos: It was. And it was beautiful. Titan was like most planets: too many mouths, not enough to go around. And when we faced extinction I offered a solution. Doctor Strange: *Genocide.* Thanos: But random. Dispassionate, fair to rich and poor alike. They called me a madman. And what I predicted came to pass. Doctor Strange: Congratulations, you’re a prophet. Thanos: I’m a survivor. Doctor Strange: Who wants to murder trillions. Thanos: With all six stones I can simply *snap* my fingers. And they’ll all cease to exist. I call that: *MERCY* Doctor Strange: And then what? Thanos: I finally rest. Watch the sunrise on a grateful universe. The hardest choices require the strongest wills. Doctor Strange: I think you’ll find our will equal to yours! Thanos: Our? FUN FACT: Did you know when Thanos said he’ll watch the sunrise on a grateful universe a short preview of the ‘Porch’ music was playing. The Russo brothers foreshadowed the whole thing.
The best Marvel movie bar none, perfectly paced and genuinely well acted. Cements Thanos as one of the best cinematic villains ever. I will never forget watching this for the first time. Endgame was great but its not on the same level as this. One of the few films I would not change a single element of. It truly felt like every marvel movie prior led to this. For me, 10/10
rodelmalabon1 yeah😂 Although I obviously understand the superheroes winning as the “grand final,” I feel like they kind of ruined the amazing character (Thanos) made in infinity war. They turned him from perhaps the best villain ever made, with his own story and morals, to every other villain with the cliche “take over the world” mindset.
The Enchanted Mango that’s the thing, in endgame he saw that he fulfilled his destiny and felt inevitable which in turn was his downfall His arrogance from seeing another version of him win got him and his army dusted, it’s not that he became cliche it’s just his character
The Enchanted Mango Please no. In Endgame he saw that he won but he feel a little intimidated by the Avengers. He is more arrogant and that's what he attack the Superheroes. Also, is Thanos of 2014! It's called character development
Watching Thanos winning was one of greatest cinematic experience of my life for the main reason I didn't even understood the very first time watching he actually fullfilled his destined. The villain actually won and I sometimes, like to think this is where the MCU ended. With the great Titan resting in front of the sun rising on a greatfull universe.
I like that he just peacefully sits and watches the universe instead getting a huge palace and gloating about it. At the end of the movie I was sitting thinking, “Ya’know what? Good for him.”
This scene just amazes me. Whenever I watch this scene I always tear up. It’s almost like traveling back in time back to your childhood when everything was simple and fascinating about life. No worries, no work, no stress. After a long day of singing the abcs, playing with your friends, and taking a long nap, you feel like you rule the world and there’s nothing that could ruin your day. This ending has the best ending a movie can have. 🙌
The soft subtle smile always gets me. Because of everything he has gone through, everything he has lost. He finally gets to live out the moment he always wished for. The pain behind that smile. But then the raw, real joy in it as well. A mix of relief, joy, and sadness. You feel sad for Thanos, but also some part of you feels happy that he won.
Tamás Pákey That doesn’t quite work because all the people do not have a clue what happened and that someone even intentionally vanished half the worlds population. They wouldn’t be able to learn from it. Even if they do know it’s not effective either way.
Even though the avengers lost. This was definitely my favorite scene in the film. I cried and that music didn't help it. Once I saw Directed by Anthony & Joe Russo I cried even more. This movie is a masterpeice.
DougyFresh03 they built up a story line of movies and gave you a passion for the characters, and then take them away, it’s like breaking up with somebody.
This is how I picture myself after beating cancer. I walk slowly because of how severely weakened I became after that exhausting battle. Then look at the sky and watch the sun rise on a grateful universe. UPDATE: back in mid 2021 I ended up in a 4 week coma because of covid. My initial prognosis was only 20% chance of survival.
I love this version of thanos.. he was never blinded by any emotion only purpose to save the universe.... I believe we all felt like rooting for him for his sheer determination against all odds.. a far better character compared to hos comic version.. he seems noble and his victory deserved..
The reason why I love this ending is because the villain actually succeeds, something most films don’t do EDIT:This is just from personal experience. Zemo did have a very very big impact on the Avengers, but Thanos had an even bigger impact. I may be wrong, but just please don’t attack me
TwentyPastFour fax totally forgot about him. Probably one of the most important villains in the mcu because he divided the avengers and thanos caught them off guard when they weren’t together.
I still remember this ending left me speechless. This is the first time in my entire life that a villain won instead of the heroes. Man, even the whole people in the cinema were shocked, confused and speechless why it end like that.

This is not just a movie. Its a experience. We can feel
Love the picture
I remember when this movie came out I heard others say they hated it because of the dark ending. But I loved this ending. Rare to see a villain succeed and even rarer for them to be complex with legitimate motivations and feelings. Thanos was honestly the main character of Infinity War.
True evil actually won for a change in a movie which is rare but it happens
I wouldn't say he has ''legitimate'' motivations.
@@antcunningham1997 true evil?
@@legrandliseurtri7495 no he does. He's not motivated by things like selfishness or greed. He's much more dangerous because he sees himself as a messiah. Meant to save the universe from the tragedy that his world suffered. Aside from his delusions, overpopulation and resource management are issues everywhere. So his desire doesn't come from an unjust place. Therefore "legitimate motivations".
Thanos- "This universe is finite; It's resources, finite. If life is left unchecked, life ceases to exist."
Gamora- "You don't know that!"
Thanos- "I'm the only one who knows that... at least the only one with the will to act on it."

@Damsen it’s true it does
the thing that makes thanos so great is that he has reasons for what he does, he genuinely believes that it's right, but he's still the villain. he doesnt just want to watch the world burn, he thinks that he's saving it, but his past clouds his sense of morality, and that's why he's still the villain
