    I like his videos a lot. I used to think he didn’t drive his cars hard enough. Glad I was wrong. He’s a great example of someone who takes great care of his cars and still drives them hard.

    I have the DSC v3 on my .1 GTS and totally transformed the suspension. I installed prior to two days at Sebring and you can feel the difference under hard braking where the front and and rear shocks are active in compression and rebound. On track I leave in Sport. If you lower the GT3 you will have hook up to a laptop and zero out the controller.

    DSC V3 is transformational on the street... much smoother ride overall. However, on track... it unbelievable! The feel during a lap isn't so noticeable, but I cut almost 2 seconds a lap at VIR, a track I've done a couple thousand laps on. It's a must have upgrade.

    • @OKF_Max
      @OKF_Max 4 роки тому +2

      Randy C so if it’s smoother on the street and faster on the track, why isn’t it setup from factory like that if it is just software? It doesn’t make sense that Porsche would make it so stiff just to make it feel sporty, like other manufactures do right? Or is it just a confidence thing and the stock setup would be better if driven in a specific way?

    • @IR-xy3ij
      @IR-xy3ij 2 роки тому

      @@OKF_Max I think it's both adjustability and being more performance oriented in general. Just like how an aftermarket racing ECU offers much more adjustability than a stock one and allows you to do much more fine tuning. An aftermarket damper controller similarly would allow you to set the dampers to how exactly you want them to behave. Also I think since very few who buy these cars actually drive them on the track, the stock setup is probably more for giving a "sporty" impression by making low speed damping overly stiff.

  • @Schwabz33
    @Schwabz33 4 роки тому +5

    @Matt Sometimes as you know newer is not always better. Maybe work with Olins to perfect the setup the way you want. ButI hope you get everything dialed -in. You can always go to GT2.

    I know you have stated that you don't like track days, and I understand its not for everyone. But if you got a good track insurance and an instructor for a weekend I think they could shape up your skills really well and they can show you the limits of that car, then you know where they are and can feel more confident being under it, that being said you'll never hit the limits of that car on the street or at least you shouldn't. Still might be a good piece of mind and a good experience.

      I've done that about 10 times over the years. It's just not fun for me. After a few years, I just decided to stop caring about what other thought of me owning cars like this and do whatever I want with them. I always thought I was destined to frequent the track and improve my driving skills. It's just not my bag. I live life at an 8/10 adrenaline level, so I've found I don't need any more stimulus.

    Porsche performance equal to their win in the Rolex 24 Hours At Daytona! The TPC and DSC teams excel in all aspects of improving the performance of and maintaining your car. I have been a customer for 10 years now, and I give them the highest of recommendations. I can unequivocally say that they have improved my car so that I experience the most when driving my Porsche. They are considered by myself and many in motorsport to be true industry experts and professionals. The DSC controller improves damping and suspension performance through software inputs derived from motorsport data. Miles of smiles!

    I recently put eneki TS-10s & Michelin PS4s on my 2015 Si which reduced unsprung weight by I think like 10lbs per wheel (18s to 17s) and I have alot of these characteristics now - dartiness, "bounciness", tramlining. But the tradeoff of actuall grip & turn-in & throttle response was worth it.

    A suggestion: Get an older (Black) Porsche or something else with horrible swirl marks all over and restore the paint to new. You primarily work on newer cars/paint that isn't damaged very much. The transformations of cars I've seen this done to is amazing. That'll really show your skills.

      I think you’re confused as to why he does this. Matt isn’t selling his detailing service or skills. He’s selling product and showing people how to use it. Also, before and after videos are worthless. You can’t get a good idea of how bad or good paint looks from UA-cam video. If you have the right lighting conditions you can make a crappy car look like a million bucks on UA-cam.

    If you haven't already, you should zero out the DSC. I have a C7 (pretty sure both cars are the same procedure, but ck w/DSC). Level the car, do the Zero travel adj for the DSC, have 1/2 to full fuel and you sitting in the car. This adj will tell the DSC where zero is in the damper travel while sitting still. It will make a difference. Right now you don't know where the DSC thinks zero damper travel is, because you haven't told it where it is.

    'Courtesy' revs are a bad idea, Matt. The fresh influx of fuel into the combustion chambers washes the effective film of oil from the cylinder walls. Your next start is a 'dry' one thus increasing ring and/or cylinder wear.

    Granted, I don't have a recent model Porsche, (I'm rolling in a 997.2) much less a GT RS, so my opinion is not the one that counts, but I've found that taking my car to the track is the best way to experience it. Roads are messy and other drivers become dangerous obstacles. Tracks are generally the best tarmac available, and you're surrounded by other people that respect the cars. I guess I've been watching too many Nurburgring videos, but seems like an RS should be at a track as often as wallets allow.

    I never do 'courtesy revs'. IMO you leave lots of fuel inside the combustion chamber. Then the un-burned fuel runs down through the piston rings, into the oil reservoir. Once there, the fuel dissolves and contaminates oil [specially E85], reducing its intrinsic benefits. So when you turn on your engine again, the oil heat will burn the fuel into ashes. That's why the once translucent oil becomes dark - burned fuel that passes through the piston rings. Then you have to change oil sooner and have more mechanical wear in engine moving parts and walls.
    'Courtesy Revs' burns 🤑

      Toyo Proxes or Potenza RE070R R2 are the way to go.
