Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Poly Neuropathy.
A mouth full, huh? This is a debilitating condition that has affected my life in the deepest of ways. Ways that I have silently powered through. Ways that have robbed me on many of my days of peace because the pain has been so great. Many of you have seen my work, posts, and have spoken to me but have had no idea what has been going on. I own that I didn't share. I am so used to showing up for everyone, and never wanted to be a burden to others. I now realize that Love is transparent. And, that I must allow my tribe to show up for me.
So, here we are:
Hi, I'm Lenny Thomas. It is not lost on me that you could be doing anything, but yet you're here with me. For that, I thank you. My heart is incredibly full.
I believe that sometimes the very things that break us can lead to our breakthrough, and the breakthrough for others if we are willing to do the work. As of October 27th, 2023 The Lenny D. Thomas Foundation has been established.
With this new initiative, we will specialize in informing people about CIDP, empowering those who live with it, and begin to accelerate the development of a cure. Furthermore, since my condition was exacerbated by trauma and loss, we will also focus on supporting survivors of suicide. Providing them with an abundance of resources to aid in their healing. Lastly, we will bring awareness to the plight of homeless veterans, in hopes of finally addressing the epidemic it is in this country. I know both of these issues personally, and rather than sitting down in a Victim mindset, I have elected to rise to the occasion and create Victory for others.
So.... Why do all this? Why not? God has given me a platform to affect change, and I live by the mantra “be the change that you want to see.” I also believe a selfless life is a meaningful life. This is my mission. This is my purpose.
I can't, and shouldn't do this alone.
In closing, one of my favorite Proverbs says, “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.”
I am asking that we go together.
