I enjoyed this conversation quite a lot. This is a topic I think about all the time and it was nice to go over the thought process with Ryan.

Death to the rimless tank!!! I think I’m the person who just sat and looked at tanks one day with than! Super soothing! 💚🩷💚 I love the dynamic with you two!

I’m with Than on the first point, I will never get another rimless tank. Braces and rims are the past, and the future!

He made me miss my Timor wrasse. I just died about a week ago, had it for 4 years. It liked to surf in my power head & one day it kicked into reverse and it got sucked in 😢.. that fish was a work horse for peat control. Every new frag it would inspect it for days

    This deserves a summary ;)
    Highlights
🏗 Euro Bracing: Essential for reducing splash and providing a working surface.
📏 Optimal Height: Tanks should be 18-20 inches tall for better flow and fish access.
💡 Light Placement: Ensure lights are high enough to avoid head bumps while still providing adequate PAR.
🐠 Fish Choices: Focus on herbivores and pest control fish for maintaining a healthy system.
🥇 Tank Size: 300-500 gallons is ideal for frag tanks, balancing capacity and manageability.
🥽 Glass vs. Tub: Glass tanks enhance visibility and observation for better maintenance.
🚶‍♂ Single Level: A single working-height level is more functional than multi-level systems.
    Key Insights
🛠 Euro Bracing Benefits: Euro bracing is not just structural; it significantly enhances the working environment, allowing for easier maintenance and reducing water splashes.
🌊 Optimal Tank Depth: Keeping frag tanks at 18-20 inches allows for adequate space for fish and effective water flow, improving overall system health.
💡 Lighting Considerations: Proper light height is crucial; it can affect both coral growth and ease of access for maintenance tasks, highlighting the need for ergonomic design.
🐟 Choosing the Right Fish: Selecting appropriate herbivores and pest control fish can manage algae and pests efficiently, showcasing the importance of biodiversity in frag tanks.
📏 Tank Size Matters: A size range of 300-500 gallons strikes a balance between growth capacity and ease of maintenance, making it suitable for both commercial and hobbyist setups.
🔍 Importance of Observation: Clear glass tanks improve visibility, enabling better observation and quicker identification of issues, ultimately leading to healthier systems.
🚪 Functional Design: Prioritizing a single-level, accessible design reduces the need for ladders and enhances the efficiency of maintenance, proving crucial for successful coral farming.

Great video but a bit disappointed that Ryan couldn't speak more on the copperband bit. Hopefully this can be a topic for the next video.

Great content guys. I also found that the Euro brace helps keep some jumpers at Bay. Also I have been using Molly Miller blennys for nuisance control and they seem to be doing well.

Is it possible that some of us aren't getting lucky with 6 line wrasses just because they are not aggressive and in maybe be a male vs female sex?

I might utilize the new 60g breeder that petco has been stocking. Same footprint as a 75g but same height as a 40g breeder

A note about the euro brace: "It's a working surface too" yes it's really really handy. But!!! Don't put open bottles on it!!!! Once I have put a bottle of Fe (iron) on it, with the cap not screwed on it.
I was working / cleaning in my sump and when I looked up I saw the whole bottle of Fe floating in the water, all the water murky and all fish dead.......

Bought a filefish a few weeks ago. After a few days I noticed that my gorgonian and acans were all retracted. After some observations I caught the Filefish nipping at my corals. So he's in the sump now... to bad because it's a very cool fish 🙁

Eurobrace is the best, you can crank up your flow without water going over the edge

Tub vs glass, so I've always been told the lifespans were 10yrs on acrylic and 15 years on silicone for glass before you have to break it down and reseal it.
I was talking to a friend that farms for a living we all know, he has fiberglass tub's he purchased used that are still in operation in his facility for over 16 years.
So I'd really like to see this topic hit on.

Than has mentioned in the past that glass is necessary so you can see the sides of the coral.
