There has been a theory that Mr. Han may have a connection to the Miyagi family, given that the history of Miyagi family karate is that he drifted away at sea while fishing and ended up in China, and then came back to Okinawa with a Chinese wife and two children, and what would become the family martial arts tradition. Which means that Mr. Han could be descended from the family that Miyagi's ancestor married into, and presumably learned his fighting techniques from.
That's also real world history, Mr. Miyagi is named after a real karate master that according to the pics on his wall he's supposed to be the grandson of. And Karate was actually invented by the Okinawans studying Chinese Gung Fu. Okinawa, back then called the RyuKyu Kingdom, was actually a lot lot closer to China than Japan in history. They had cultural import from many countries and cultures but had a particular love and fascination with China, to the point it was routine for RyuKyu scholars and royalty to go the China to study for a few years before returning home, and China had a good relationship with the kingdom. The original name for Karate in the Okinawan language was To De, meaning Chinese Hand. I'm going to guess the "two bramches of the same tree" is going to be about that real world connection, and exploring the similarities and differences of the two. I mean Cobra Kai itself is about that too between karate and tang soo do, it's just more campy and doesn't take itself serious.
The karate gi with the gung fu sash goes hard as a fit. People forget Jackie Chan actually knows karate, along with like 3 other arts besides wushu, so it's not like it doesn't fit.
Jackie Chan stunt team is literally responsible for the best fight scenes ever filmed. Shame nobody ever tries to reach that level anymore. I like Donnie Yen but he just doesn't have that sauce Chan had. Jet Li was actually second to Chan in my eyes but he's super underappreciated nowadays. Some fight scenes make you wonder how a character did those things, and that can be good and bad. But Jackie fights made you wonder how the actor could even do those things, and it elevated it to the stratosphere, you're willing to hand over your disbelief because you saw a real human do something incredible, even knowing the actor knew ahead of time what was going to happen it doesn't seem any less impressive. Those are what superhero fight scenes should look like, not even Shang Chi approached that.
I think James is trying to bring it back to the most successful version of DC, the Justice League Unlimited series. Also, I'm not sure if Lois knows. She's making out with Clark, but only hugging Superman. I think...
I have a feeling this will be the movie thatll make Gen Z love Superman few of us have gone back and realised how amazing Chris Reeve was so i have faith that my generation will have hope in a Superman again
Just for some context, the reason Superman wears brighter colors and red shorts on the outside is because he doesn't want to strike fear into civilians, and he has never really wanted to intimidate his enemies either. Like if you looked on tv and, knowing nothing about them, saw 2 heroes, someone dressed completely in black, and someone with their underwear over their pants. Even by a little bit, who would you feel more safe around? This is why the Snyder suit didn't do it for a lot for people as, even though it looks badass, looking badass is more Batman's thing. Superman is supposed to be a symbol for hope and not a warning, for the good guys and even the bad guys. I hope this clears some things up!
I’m not directing this at you Mell but people still being upset about Henry Cavill are like the folks still holding out hope for Winds of Winter lol. Just pack it up and move on
From everything we know about the new Karate Kid movie, it takes place a few years after Cobra Kai events, and I don't think any of them are involved in it outside of Daniel so don't worry about finishing Cobra Kai before then. I think you'll really like it.
When Henry Cavill was cast as Superman, DC and Warner Bros. were scrambling to catch up with Marvel, and they lacked a clear vision to truly give Henry his due. He was fantastic in the role, but the studio’s direction at the time didn’t fully capitalize on his potential. Now, James Gunn has come in and reset the board, steering away from the dark and gloomy tone the franchise has leaned into since Tim Burton’s Batman. Gunn is reviving the lighter, hopeful energy of the Christopher Reeve and Richard Donner era-an approach that fits perfectly with a character who embodies hope. I’m genuinely excited to see what the new Superman will bring. As for Karate Kid: Legends, Ben Wang is a 24-year-old playing a kid, much like Ralph Macchio was 22 when he portrayed Daniel LaRusso. On the other hand, Jaden Smith was an actual kid-11 years old-when he played Dre Parker in The Karate Kid. Despite the fact that his character’s martial art wasn’t technically karate, the title still fit because it centered on a kid.
I hope the action in this is similar to Karate Kid 2010. It actually seemed like they had martial artists in there, not just actors. But the moves this kid is doing is reminding me of it and im all for it. The one thing i dont like about Cobra Kai is that the fighting is slow paced and actually looks choreographed. In the 2010 movie, you could really feel the impact from the hits
