      yes it keep the air out and ensures there is no air in the cooler. Most install with the fittings down as it does look neater.

    I love the fittings with the threads on the sleeve. I throw my baby impact driver and a socket to it. Sucks it right down with no stray strands.

      @@BlaserBuilds the ones I used were reverse threads. Plus still leave the tape on to get it started. Then at least it’s easy to seat it all the way down.

    you can buy soft jaws for your vise that are made for this, they work awesome for building hoses and other things as well.

    How are those ict billet an adapter fittings that go to the 4l80e holding up any problems?

    Have you got a part number for the cooler? Both versions of Tru cools 40k is advertised as 3/8 inverted fittings through multiple vendors.

      @@adfasdfasdfluy thanks for the bump on an old thread. I am going to use this cooler in my duramax Colorado that I tow with. I ordered -8an to 5/8-18 fittings & -8an 180s so I can mount it upside down like he did to make sure it pushes all the air out.

    Did you connect the rubber lines directly to the transmission on not use any of the hard line from factory? I have a 6L90 and want to hook mine up that way but not sure if I can thread anything directly into my transmission I believe it is a different setup, probably have to cut the lines at the transmission and connect to it there. Just wondering if it’s going to be to much pressure on that length of just rubber?

    Curious, why AN over standard transmission line and clamps?
    Also never seen anyone leave the tape on. That’s interesting but I use the blue towel trick too instead of the expensive wrenches lol

      I feel like it's more safe than standard non braided line and hose clamp for the high pressure of the trans. Ive done them without tape also. Kind of depends if the braid and nylon gets wadded up or not. I seem to have better luck with a narrow full wrap at the end.

    Hi the various websites including Tru Cool are listing the fitting as 3/8-24 inverted flare but you are saying 5/8-18. Can you clarify? Nice vid

    Looks good but your cooler is upside down. Always want ports on the bottom.

    Why do you mount the inlet/outlet facing up? Most installations show them facing down

      @hiphopsuperman So it doesn't have potential to trap air bubbles at the top in the cooler. .

    on the radiator what did you do with the oem trans lines? you took em off and blocked off the holes with something? if so can you please let me know thanks!

      I believe I just left them open. The trans portion is like a little cooler inside that gets held into place with the large fitting. With the smaller line portion removed, the large fitting is still in place do shouldn't need to be blocked, unless the internal cooler portion is damaged. Hope that makes sense. If not, just ask.

      @@BlaserBuilds i’m honestly a little confused…because i saw you ran both lines straight to the trans so that’s why i was wondering what you did with the stock lines and if you plugged em up with some fittings

      @@juanmoya2162 The stock lines I completely removed. And left the line fittings on the radiator un-capped. Nothing in them. Just removed the lines.

      @@juanmoya2162 Shouldn't need to unless the trans cooler section inside the radiator has a leak. The larger portion of the fitting on the radiator threads into the internal cooler so shouldn't leak coolant.

      This did actually leak, and I welded them on.

      No..but get the russel fittings. Every other brand I've used leak.

    When I move my line by the 180 fitting by the trans cooler I get a leak does that just mean I gotta bad fitting or is it suppose to do that??

      No, they should not leak when moving them.

    I installed the cooler on my 2001 Tahoe but the trans isn't getting to operating temp now. Dexron VI ideal operating temperature is 175F. I'm seeing 40F above ambient with this cooler on the highway, putting me at 80F, nearly 100F below operating temperature for the fluid & transmission. Yet I cannot find a tutorial on how anybody installed the temperature bypass from TruCool. Did you finally put that in?

      Hope you figured it out but never bypass radiator. Just cool the line going to transmission from radiator it ensures your trans can get to operating temp faster

    How long did each line have to be to reach the transmission?

      Probabaly around 7-8 feet. I think I bought a 20ft. roll and had some leftover.

    Curious. Why have your fittings at the top of the cooler vs pointing them down?

      Thought is to be able to push all the air out so it doesn't trap any and whole cooler is used.

      @@BlaserBuilds i ran mine the same way, with the fittings up, on my old Silverado. Didn't have to cut brackets and the cooler works fine in any position. But you will get a ton of people questioning your sanity and telling you how stupid you are 🤣 meanwhile, I never ever had a single problem

    Just curious if you have higher coolant temperatures? I installed a 40k on my 5.3 and its 15 degrees warmer, around 195 F

    Can you share what lines and fittings you use for your furl setup on e85? I want to redo my setup but not sure on the ebay lines for e85

      I've used the ebay lines in 4 cars now... But I also change stuff a lot so can't say how they'd hold up after 5 years...

I have my car down now for a turbo upgrade from the gt45 to the VS gen2.5 7875,I want to put another 450 in it while it’s down and I’d like to replace the thrown together lines I have on it now

      Do you get the lines and fittings that are labeled “PTFE”? They are usually a little more expensive. If not, how long should I expect the regular AN kit to last with e85?

    how much experience do you have with this setup, ive always ran through the rad cooler also, will the 40k keep it cool on a DRIVER?
    also, most the fittings ive used say to leave an air gap on the fitting when bolting the ends together, not to bottom it out, so i always stop a few turns early. Dont know how important it is. Maybe something to consider

      I have the same cooler on my ranger and I've never seen it above 140s. Radiator would warm it up.

      I ran mine before the rad cooler, so that the new trans cooler would help take a thermal load off of the radiator in general. Plus, the factory rad cooler helped to get the warm the trans fluid back up and maintain stable temps. Thats the key, stability

      @@BlaserBuilds I have my fittings pointing down and don't have any issues.. funny i mounted mine this way so the cooler would drain back..I think its a solid setup either way..I used AN fittings and braided hose also.

      @@spyderlyf3 Yeah factory has them down so I'm sure it wouldn't cause any issues per say. Would be an interesting test to see if it loses cooling capacity.

      @@jimmyramirez8844 Hoses down can trap air pockets, hoses up will push all the air out into the outfeed line. (In theory).

    Any one know where I can get a high pressure -6 female thread at both ends line about 14 inches long? Earls speed flex has failed me. Any help is appreciated 👍

      Make one would be easiest. Buy 2 fittings and a foot of hose.

      @@BlaserBuilds transmission cooler install just like yours,just don't want to use compression fittings or having to cut one of the trans lines to swing it around to meet the new cooler. Figured I could adapt the GM quick connect to -6 an high pressure line PTFE lined and the. Just route it up to the new cooler port and terminate with the appropriate fitting in the cooler.

      The knockoffs are around $80, the genuine coolers are $150ish.

      In theory, It could trap bubbles, but GM does it from the factory with the down so it can't be that bad.

    My tru cool 47391 started leaking very very badly from the plates after 6months. Be careful using these, it almost costed me a 4,000 transmission.
    P.s “Oregon performance transmission” does not stand by its products nor do they return calls or e-mails. Do not use OPT

      I used AN fittings at the transmission and ran these lines the whole way.
