That's strange! But you can create a VarSet in the document, right? If so, then define its variables/properties by selecting the Variable Set in the tree view and modifying its parameters in its properties. Or maybe the problem is with FreeCAD's saved preferences. In that case, did you install v1.0 over an earlier version of FreeCAD?

Are you using v1.0 of FreeCAD? Did you checked the checkbox to show the variables?

What UI are you using? It looks organized. I tried the open theme and i didn't like it.
Look for FreeCAD Classic Theme in preferences.
