Ok, this is nice because it shows how FreeCAD can be used very effectively. *But* this is for skillful designers used to CAD tools. Beginners take notice of that, you have to get a lot of experience to grasp it all. Or put the reproduction speed at 75% or 50% to get a nice "stoned designer mode" view.

Sorry, but I can’t benefit from your video. Your doing everything way too fast and it’s very hard for me to understand you. I was trying RC2 of FreeCAD 1.0 the last days, but it crashed on my M1 Mac regularly. 😢

Hi, Im researching about CAT Softwares, I'm always open to FOSS, I use blender for art. But want to learn CAD for real applications. I see most people shitting on FreeCAD, ranting about how awful is a FREE! Software developed by VOLUNTEERS. I see comments like "How can't they add something so simple!@$@*" And then I think, most of them most be people who just bought their new trending 3D Printer, and want SolidWorks Magic for Free. They most think, programmer just have to type in notepad, "Hey computer, add this simple X feature" PUFF, done. Im a professional programmer (12 year) almost my entire life programming and I say... do they know how much time draining is programming? Not alone a pyhisics and mathematics oriented software. You need like 4 or 5 degrees of engineer/scientific knowledge to program this software. Math, Physic, Programming, Computer Graphics, Industrial Design It not as "hurr durr this doesnt have X, so simple, just add it". But I know that being FOSS there may be some truth to the comments. Usually I go for FOSS because this subscription cloud base thing is becoming hell on earth, its everywhere. And the only way I think we can stop this is by supporting FOSS Software.

This seems like a fairly sophisticated mechanism and freeCad can certainly handle it. However is it really necessary to have each part in a separate document? In actually conceptualizing and designing a mechanism like this from scratch, it would certainly be preferable to have all the parts present and visible in the same window when designing. Especially if you want to make it parametric. For instance the length of the roller would depend on the diameter and separation of the two metal brackets. Presently I'm using Onshape and would consider switching to freeCAD. But in Onshape you can design this whole thing in the same document in one window with many different parts present at the same time, and fairly easily make it parametric. If you want the parts to move, or you have a very complicated machine with lots of different sub-assemblies, only then would you have to use a separate "assembly" window.

it's a very cool video, suitable to introduce stubborn people into freecad but please, please try to avoid unaligned arcs like at 5:26 - i know it's a very quick introduction project, but people will learn this, their designs will break, and they will think freecad is not worth learning it
