I have next generation 2011 and there is no hole in the body of car to mount speaker. Also, speaker faces forward instead of side ways. I just installed a bullet tweet that was almost same size as original. Original is more mid range but the tweet i added will hopefully get more power since 4 ohm vs 12.5 ohm
The factory speakers are 2ohm. You're replacing them with 4ohm so you lose 50% the wattage from the bose amp. I replaced my factory amp with a 4ch and added a separate sub amp. My front sub is totally disabled...tho I'm thinking of getting a small amp and running it as a front midbass.
Do you know which wires they are at the nose amp I don’t want to have to run new wire from the speaker all the way to the front if I don’t have too cause I’m not using the Bose amp
It blocks the bass, works great on smaller speakers to prevent damage from too much bass. Use a non polarized capacitor. You can install on the positive or negative terminal of the speaker. Place in series between the speaker and the speaker wire. You can find charts on line that will give you the capacitor value and frequencies they block.
MJM’s Workshop Thank you. I have a 2002 Suburban but have not yet attempted to do the D pillar speakers. I also have not done the subwoofer. Seems in both cases one needs to do a small modification so the speakers fit as you had to do. I am having BestBuy install my new Kenwood system and door speakers. I will then do as you did for the back of the car.
MJM’s Workshop Yes I agree. Unfortunately the way the new 8” subwoofers are made it requires using a router or dremel to make the opening slightly larger. I have seen another video on that issue. You are correct my subwoofer is on the drivers side of the rear cargo area. I just need to get a set of tools to pop all this moulding off. Never attempted anything like this before.
John Stevenson, helps prevent blowing the speakers as well as eliminate some distortion from the new speakers. 3 1/2” speakers aren’t designed to put out the much lower frequencies that larger speakers can. There are different capacitors with different frequency cutoff points. Some only alllow lower frequencies, some only allow higher frequencies, and there are some that will still allow you to get the midrange frequencies.
Bose stereo system in suburbans are 2 ohm. They have an amplifier thats ran on 2 ohm. the deck has nothing to do with liking 2 ohm speakers. Those 4 ohm speakers won't sound as good.
Curtis Navarro Yes the Bose speakers are 2ohm as well as the Bose amp. I've now replaced all the speakers, bypassed the amp and replaced the head unit. It sounds so much better than the factory Bose system did.
East Garland most of the amps are located under the center console, or behind the glovebox. FYI speaker pods.com makes a pod that lets you put a 5 1/4 speaker in the C pillar location.
Thanks! I installed these same speakers in my ‘02 Suburban. Took less than an hour following these instructions.
what a difference in sound!

What was the make an model if the tweet you put in
Doing this today. Great idea 👍
Thanks!
You don't need the bass blockers, more than likely the signal don't have bass going to those speakers
I put them in because I’m running them off a aftermarket head unit.

This was temporary, I’m no longer running the Bose amp.
I have a 2022 Tahoe but no speakers or wire there would it be hard to run wire for the speakers in the back????
Not too bad
I know this was made a while ago but would they fit in my D pillars in my 2012 Suburban LTZ?
I’m not sure on a 2012.
The UQ3 (factory amp, 8" sub NON BOSE 9 speaker) RPO code is NOT 2 ohm, theyre all 4 ohm save for the sub which is 2 ohm.
Is the standard stereo system (non-Bose) still 2-ohm or what would it be?
4 ohm
What size are those kicker speakers?.
Did you run those tweeter to the front of the car or you stil using the Bose amp
Temporarily to Bose amp until I replaced the head unit. Now they run off the head unit.
Do you know which wires they are at the nose amp I don’t want to have to run new wire from the speaker all the way to the front if I don’t have too cause I’m not using the Bose amp
Great video! Mair difference!
Why do you need the capacitor and how does it work again (series on the positive lead)?

Clint Labarthe 2002 should have the rear sub instead of the center console one like mine. Should make for an easier upgrade.

@@clintlabarthe4520 i didnt need anything to fit my sub in that box. I got a planet audio ac8d. Super easy, cheap too, sounds great.
They where boston audio 3.5 in my tahoe
What would the difference be between the 50v and The 100v capacitor?
I’m this application, The wattage it can handle. But either would work fine.
The bose amp already filters the base from those rear tweets.
I’m not running the Bose amp anymore.
Whats size are they and they will fit in the Tahoe 02
3.5” yes they should fit. I think I put a link in the description to the speakers I used. If not I’ll add it.
Will they fit on a 05 suburban and is it the same size for the front A pillar?
Should be the same as far as I know.
with wire is positive and negative on the D pillar??????
I do not recall, should be able to find it online.
Cool kicker cs speakers I have a set of 5.25 I'm going to put in the back doors of my 2000 dodge ram Laramie slt quad cab long bed.
I like them, have them in several vehicles.
Why did you add the capacitor??? What does that even do in this setup?
blocks bass to help keep from blowing this little speaker.

i would hope by now hes learned how easily you can cut your fingers on that plastic and has bought better tools for removing interior panels.
So D pillar speakers are 3.5s??
Factory size is smaller but 3.5s fit.
@@mjmcomputers I'm going with all rockford fosgate speakers and I cannot find a 3.5, do you think a 4 inch speaker would fit as well??
@@fredonthecuttzent.8405 I’m not sure but I kinda doubt it.

Hi dear Same process for Tahoe 03 ??
I’m not sure but I think it would be.
fily nv yes. They are the same truck just one is longer

Yup, I dont know why Chevy did this.
Where would the amp go or be located

On the suburban the amp is located behind the panel near the c pillar
You should have had 8 ohms..
LOL replaced bose with the most pile of shit brand there is Kicker. /facepalm
These sound better than the factory bose did.
