- Erich Hermann Bauer was born on the 26th of March 1900 in Berlin, then part of the German Empire. After elementary school, he began training as a lathe operator. However, he did not complete his apprenticeship as he had been drafted into military service.
During the First World War, which lasted from 28 July 1914 to 11 November 1918, Bauer fought on the Western Front and then was taken prisoner by the French. He was released in early 1920 and initially worked as an unskilled laborer, but after receiving appropriate training, Bauer began working as a driver. The Second World War began on 1 September 1939, when Nazi Germany invaded Poland. In 1940, Bauer started to work for the Nazi Euthanasia Program, code-named T4, which was the systematic murder of institutionalized patients with disabilities in Germany.
In early 1942, Bauer was assigned to the command of Odilo Globocnik, who served as the SS and Police Leader of Lublin in German-occupied Poland. He received an SS uniform and rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant. By April 1942, he had been sent to Sobibor.

So mean and hateful of Erich Bauer and his fellow SS to abuse inmates at those hellish places like Auschwitz and wherever else they had perpetrated their horrible crimes against humanity. Sickening and infuriating. May those murderers be judged at the Final Judgment. Thank you for this eye-opening video.

Perhaps look at what is happening to prisoners in the Ukrainian conflict, study what goes on in certain parts of the world and what has happened since world war 2. Trying to provoke some lame A$$ reply when clearly nothing that you note was written! I know education and knowledge are lacking today. Even listen to what certain protestors are calling for at US university campusses. 1933 was the beginning of a gradual descent into hell with so many willing partners in Germany. BAUER was never at Auschwitz. He was a Sergeant at Sobibor Extermination Camp. All he had to do was turn a valve from OFF TO ON. This allowed carbon monoxide exhaust from a heavy engiine to enter the sealed chamber and kill the Jews within.
After gassing a separate group of prisoners unloaded the corpses from the chamber and put them on pyres to cremate them.
On the day of the uprising/breakout the prisoners of the Upper camp had no contact with the Death camp and thus, unlike the Treblinka break out, no prisoners from the Death area were able to escape at Sobibor.
In the BBC Film Escape from Sobibor in the SS canteen a Sergeant taunts Bauer 'What do you do - turn a valve from OFF to ON?

Yes, they were volunteers. They avoided combat by volunteering.
A crew of 96 men was formed
There were 5 Euthanasia centres in Germsny + one in Austria.
That's where these men learned of the killings
Their pay books were specially marked they could not called up into any separste body.
From there they went to Poland. Himmler set up 4 Extermination centres.
24 T4 men operated Belzecs,
Treblinka and Sobibor which used Carbon Monoxide exhaust gas to kill Jews
Chelmno used gas vans IE when the vans arrived at the cremation place, the Jews in the vans were dead
Each centre had 150 armed Ukrainian guards
At Treblinka Belzecs and Sobibor the Jews arrived by wooden cattle trucks.

Bauer was sent as many were. They got their start in the T4 program. You could escape this if you volunteered for combat on the Russian front, but only if your superiors agreed to let you go.

Treblinka, the death camp itself was run by about 20-25 germans/Austrians they managed to exterminate about 600.000-900.000 people. Truly industrial in scale.
