The finished animation is up on Twitter and Instagram! Went with the subtle relaxing animation as requested on the original video. Will do a more dramatic animation for the next scene. (in the works!) Video link: twitter.com/CGGeeks/status/1229810514064281600
Out of all of your videos I've seen, this is by far the best. It's the perfect match of entertaining, informational, approachable to people unfamiliar with CG and mostly just really beautiful and satisfying. Keep it up! I love this kinda content!
I’d like to see it rendered with a gentle breeze blowing the branches, still keeping the spirit of a “still life” scene but giving it motion and life. It’ll be a Life scene :)
Making nature in 3D is one of the most satisfying feeling of all. This was such a cool idea and the final scene looks surreal . ..can't wait to see the animation.
Just an ambient animated version - tree leaves moving, branches and trunks swaying slightly, water and waves moving naturally, fog drifting and shift, and the clouds slowly panning - would be really cool.
This was fun! Grew up watching Bob. (back in the day when we had to wait until Saturday to watch on tv) Your version is beautiful.. Bob would have been proud. Render the animation.. would like to see it!
It looks like Bob's original painting is getting a bit of “Black Hills” lighting effect- the foreground is getting diffused sunlight (very light cloud cover), while the background is fully covered in shadow, or alternatively, the angle of the sun means the mountain face you're looking at is the shadowed side while the lake is getting a bit of late-day semi (still somewhat diffused by light cloud cover). It's a surreal effect IRL, and certainly plausible to set up with reality-based 3D lighting (though probably not easily). 👍
A terrific way to honour the brilliance of Bob Ross using modern 3D tools! Well done sir! Can’t wait to see the animated version! Bob would be amazed at what is possible today!
I'm officially inspired. Bob Ross and his happy little clouds almost got me to start buying oils, canvases, and brushes back in the day. Nice to see how to pull it together in Blender.
You definitely captured the key element,in my opinion, of a Bob Ross episode: Making it look so easy that anyone could do it! Looks very close but more life-like. Hope you do the animation as well.
fantastic work man. you really capture the picture well, and tons of work went into the process. I can't even wrap my head around all the things you need to know to work in that program
This work is so freaking realistic and amazing. I don't know why, but you make everything sound and look so easy to do when really, my computer hates it and crashes every time I go and do scenes like that
ive always wanted to do this ever since i had the idea of creating a vr experience where you can visit in 3d all the places bob ross has painted. "The Joys of Bob Ross". Always thought this would be a wonderful tribute to the legend. Very impressed with your outcome great work as always.
I just finished the video and I stand by what I said in my previous comment. This is the best thing I ever saw. Not only does your render look utterly magnificent and beautiful, this video is fun and goofy and simply entertaining to watch. 10/10 video 👌. Would love to see more content like this.
please please PLEASE do more of these! i would love to see you get deeper into the vibe of Bob Ross and maybe make this a regular features :D Bob has a lot of different paintings, after all ;)
This was my first video of yours and I loved it! Really like how you explain what you're doing and the idea behind why you're doing it while linking to further explanation where it might be desired. I don't have any talent or skill in art, digital or otherwise, so it was neat to see the tricks you used to add so much to the render - those random rectangles everywhere in the model had me super confused and doubtful, but they added so much detail and depth I was completely blown away. Loved to see you using particle systems for generating so much stuff to do it quickly but also give it a less manufactured feel.
I just watched two artists create beautiful works of art in two very different ways. And yet they both have the same feel and look. I am astounded by your skill and I must say a very cool video to watch. Youve definitely earned a subscriber (:
It's taking me a while to process this. But one thought that comes to mind is to apply this paradigm to all sorts of art forms - using the most modern tools to re-imagine classic works, be it in music, visual arts, dance, architecture, poetry, literature - across the gamut.
This is so awesome! I love watching Ross. This is so lifelike, someone is bound to steal it and claim Bob Ross went there to get inspiration for his piece :D
This is awesome! I really like this method of creating scenes. You really have to use your imagination to figure out how to get the job done. Really expands your knowledge of 3D and I think could help you go far.
Hey! Great video. For an animation, you should add a little bit of a shimmy to the trees, add some slow movement to the fog, and add a small bit of camera shake. ;)
I would like to see more of this kind of tutorials. At the first moment I thought you were just copy the scene by drawing on your graphics tablet. Well done.
Render an animation of it, with a fish jumping out of the water, maybe use dynamic paint to make some ripples from you the fish. Really loved this btw, excellent work! : )
If anybody with a weak computer (like me) wants to attempt this, I would suggest, to turn of the particle systems that you are not using as you go through. Add the volumetric fog at the end. And instead of using the noise texture planes. Just turn on the Mist data in the denoiser data tab. Then add the mist node in the compositor tab. After than use the mist data Image and the render Image, put them in photoshop. Give the mist layer the screen mode. Then mask the areas where you dont want that mist. Use that mask data invert it, add a levels adjustment layer to take out the blacks from the background. You will have the exact same effect with lesser power requirement
Nicely done. Got a kick out of it. You came amazingly close, I was surprised. YES, definitely and animation, 10k or not, as a tribute to Bob Ross. Kudos!
Age of Asparagus did a similar thing with Krita, teaching how to make brushes and mix colors and stuff like that. I highly recommend it if you want to get into digital painting and don't know where to start. You should make this a series. Also, you should animate this, then compose it onto Bob Ross's canvas as sampled from his TV show. :-)
The finished animation is up on Twitter and Instagram!

better start rn boy :D u were in my recommended never seen u before. Pretty neat content my guy. keep it up!
animated version of this would be cool tho
@@yung_terps4205 why not both then? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Would not even require camera movement. Water and plants waving would already be great.
Out of all of your videos I've seen, this is by far the best. It's the perfect match of entertaining, informational, approachable to people unfamiliar with CG and mostly just really beautiful and satisfying. Keep it up! I love this kinda content!
This would be a good series
Yes!!!
I agree. I really enjoyed this.
it would be a great series.
Let’s make this a petition
Amen
I’d like to see it rendered with a gentle breeze blowing the branches, still keeping the spirit of a “still life” scene but giving it motion and life. It’ll be a Life scene :)
☝️
Yass. Do this
Then I'd like to see bob Ross paint it frame by frame, use parallax to copy it, and put the whole animation in oculus rift
No dude, you’re just not funny.
ScatterInk Happy thoughts.
Making nature in 3D is one of the most satisfying feeling of all. This was such a cool idea and the final scene looks surreal . ..can't wait to see the animation.
I want to play a game set in the world of Bob Ross's paintings.
there is a Bob Ross boardgame
@@xophaser The Art of Chill. It's one of our favorite games.
@@steelcitytbirds I like it, won't put it in my favorite tho.
Reminds me of the painting level in Elder Scrolls Oblivion
The Hunter: Call of the Wild has some great scenery, not exactly Bob's painting worth, but still absolutely fantastic for a game.
Bob says beat devil
I was worried CG geek would punch his computer
Hopefully he's not that much of a Luddite.
*empties recycle bin*
〉〉cerebral_malfunction deletes internet explorer
nah nah you beat the devil outta your normals ( aka- recalculating normals)
He should start breaking keyboards over his desk
Imagine if Bob was still alive, giving him a VR headset with one of his paintings as a 3D world he can move around in. ❤
I'm definitely looking forware some happy, little renderings to animate.
Just an ambient animated version - tree leaves moving, branches and trunks swaying slightly, water and waves moving naturally, fog drifting and shift, and the clouds slowly panning - would be really cool.
Steve, this is amazing. Not just a beautiful piece of work, but a great idea to follow BR and bring his work into the 3D world. Well done.
My mother passed away a year ago. She was an artist. I have one of her paintings I want to render in 3-D what a great idea. Thank you for the video.
Robert Burkley condolences 🙏
Condolences
Hell yeah, I'd love to see an animated version. Kept wanting to see that camera push slowly forward past those FG trees.
This was fun! Grew up watching Bob. (back in the day when we had to wait until Saturday to watch on tv) Your version is beautiful.. Bob would have been proud. Render the animation.. would like to see it!
You just made the most comprehensive blender nature environment tutorial I have ever seen in a 15 minute video. Congratulations!
almost to 10K - great video
this is a unique idea, lets get a complete series
That would be a really nice desktop wallpaper to have.
As a huge Bob Ross fan, this was extremely satisfying. Leave the 1 minute videos to the cg clowns, this is your niche.
Wow, No matter what way you make Bob's painting you will still get a stunning scene!
More Bob Ross pieces in 3D Please! Thank you for doing this! Pure Genius
Yaaas please!!! I didn't expect his final render to actually look like a Bob Ross painting but it did!!! AMAZING!!!!👍
We wanna see this animation! 👍
Learning from other disciplines is alway rewarding. A joy to watch you!
Very inspiring indeed - you and Bob Ross 😃
I wish Bob would have been able to see the technology available to recreate his art in a modern form. I think he would love it!
This is super real. Graphics. Even 10.seconds to. Render take 2 days its still impressive.
I think you should do some of your videos in bob ross style😂. This is amazing!
You definitely captured the key element,in my opinion, of a Bob Ross episode: Making it look so easy that anyone could do it! Looks very close but more life-like. Hope you do the animation as well.
I feel like this video should blow up and get recommended to random people
It did
Yeah it definitely did
In 10 years it will, hello future person
It was probably recommended to me because of Jazza, but it does kinda seem like a video to be randomly recommended :'D
Creativity never dies. Steve, you showed real soul and spirit. That’s anima.
absolutely beautiful work. great homage to Bob Ross as well
Interesting take on creating a tree. Long time since I saw anyone doing that "manually" in another way than using SpeedTree.
You are getting better by the day as a mentor... please make more nature assets related tutorials, good sir.
oh man a high quality perfect loop animation of the mist rolling over the water and the foliage gently swaying would be so satisfying, make it happen
I wanna see this channel become *fully Bob Ross*
fantastic work man. you really capture the picture well, and tons of work went into the process. I can't even wrap my head around all the things you need to know to work in that program
This work is so freaking realistic and amazing. I don't know why, but you make everything sound and look so easy to do when really, my computer hates it and crashes every time I go and do scenes like that

Fun to watch, awesome result. Loved watching bob in my childhood. Pretty neat that it can be done in blender. Thanks for this vid :)
This is such a clever idea! You also have the talent to pull it off.
Next video from Corridor Crew "VFX Artist Follows ... in 3D")))
Bob Ross follows a CG artist with paint.
They made it1!!
All that modern tech and Bob's painting still had more soul with his primitive paints and brushes.
Do it! Do the swooping in animation... Moving ripples on water...add some birds...
with some soft piano music...😋
This is the BEST Blender tutorial in UA-cam, and hell yes I wanna see it animated!
New video idea and new concept for many vfx artist
And you are the creator
Congratulations

I've been waiting for years for someone to do this. Of course, it would have to be CG Geek!
The concept and execution of this video are amazing!
Wish Bob was still around to see cool stuff like this.
please please PLEASE do more of these! i would love to see you get deeper into the vibe of Bob Ross and maybe make this a regular features :D Bob has a lot of different paintings, after all ;)
Amazing result! I can't wait for the rendered animation
Yes, please, do animated version. It would be nice experience to dive into Bob Ross painting.
I am so glad I found you a few weeks ago.
This came out on my Birthday!
(Posted without finishing)
I Love Bob, and this is awesome. Thanks!
My sincere thanks to both the artists.
Very awesome! Please continue. Maybe an animated eagle swooping through..
There are no mistakes only happy accidents.Awesome tutorial.
Nice work! Very cool to see the contrast between different mediums.
That's just great, and the comparison fade - in shows just how close you got
LOL Brilliant! Following Bob Ross like that was truly brilliant! You should do a few more like this..
An animation of the scene would be REALLY cool to watch!

Youve definitely earned a subscriber (:
That turned out really good! Your lightroom tweaking really made it work great!
Absolutely make that animation, I've thought this needs to be animated already before you were asking!
Never have I clicked on a youtube channel faster! You're the best blenderer in the world! Yes, even better than Andrew Price!
Well if Bob Ross is the King of his domain you sure are it in yours! Looking forward to see the animation!
I LOVE environments. Make more please!

More of this! So cool, great work CG!
This is awesome! I really like this method of creating scenes. You really have to use your imagination to figure out how to get the job done. Really expands your knowledge of 3D and I think could help you go far.
I love this! What a creative idea (:
DUDE!!! It's like Bob Ross was copying your rendered image. Great stuff
This was a very entertaining 3D scene creation video! Love it! More of these plz!
Hey! Great video. For an animation, you should add a little bit of a shimmy to the trees, add some slow movement to the fog, and add a small bit of camera shake. ;)
am I the only one who really enjoy those "half rendered" effect? It is even prettier than the final product in my opinion
Beautiful result well done CG Bob
Wow that would look good as a poster. Well done.
I would like to see more of this kind of tutorials.
At the first moment I thought you were just copy the scene by drawing on your graphics tablet.
Well done.
Would have been easy in a graphics program with natural media brushes and textured canvas.
I already like close to 10 thousand, let's make the animation, I'll wait for it!
Render an animation of it, with a fish jumping out of the water, maybe use dynamic paint to make some ripples from you the fish. Really loved this btw, excellent work! : )
This would be such an awesome trend for 3D artist to start! The end result was amazing!! You should definitely animate the scene!
This isn't even close to what I was looking for, but it's exactly what I wanted
This would be a good series, cant wait to watch more! 😍
As you can see here how much the gaming graphics improved over the years from 1985 to 2020. 14:12
Thanks for the video man.

Such an original and creative idea. Like it! Very well executed too. This was fun to watch. Thanks!
Awesome! You have a big back yard
YES, i would love to see an animated version of this!!!
that glass pc case is awesome
Great idea for a tutorial. Would love to see other traditional artists like M.C. Escher, or Edward Hopper.
I am loving the nature Videos... Keep this series up and do various landscapes in blender.
Nicely done. Got a kick out of it. You came amazingly close, I was surprised.
YES, definitely and animation, 10k or not, as a tribute to Bob Ross.
Kudos!

You've gave life to Bob Ross painting Brother 😍👌
I really enjoyed this video! Super creative and great result- can’t wait for the animation
Man I really want to see that animated now, amazing!
Awesome! I'm use C4d all my life now I want to learn blender
nice way to think out of the box, and bring tribute to a legend.
earn a sub.
Very very kool :) And would love a series like this with more Bob Ross recreations.
