  • What would I do if Silver Dollar City called me up and asked me to come back to work on the train again? Would I do it? I work through the plusses, the minuses, the good and the bad, and decide...
A behind the scenes look at what a former worker at Disney World, Silver Dollar City, and Busch Gardens Florida experienced in his time working at the parks. From driving large safari trucks around live wild animals while cracking one silly joke after another, to spending 5 years as a #PhotoPass photographer at #WaltDisneyWorld and seeing and experiencing all sorts of things, to being a conductor and #trainrobber on the famous Frisco Silver Dollar Line at #SilverDollarCity. With 10 years of working in the parks, there's lots of stories to tell. Here is some of them...
Not only did I work in theme parks for 10 years, I've visited a whole lot of them as well. Here's some stories of great visits, not so great visits, favorites, reviews, and much more.

When my son was about 4 he saw J.R walking around the train station and only recognized him as Alphie Bowlan. He got really concerned and whispered to me ‘Mom, the robber is in the town! We have to get away from here before he sees us!’ 😂😂😂

I was a Bolin and Still a Bolin. First one in the History of the Park in Labor Pool to sign off as both a Robber and Conductor. IT was a Blast

Ride operation for me became a job very quickly. Did my four years of that and decided it would be the last customer service position I would ever hold. The only way I'd work with the customers face to face again is in a Haunt position. That way, I can tell them exactly what's on my mind and how much I'd love theirs on my wall or in my belly.

It looks like a hoot, and you always make it sound fun. Def something I'd like to try one day Lord willing. I'd be a drive for me, too. I'd love to see a one off Sir Willow back in action if that could happen.

Hey it’s Suzanne, i changed my UA-cam name. Working at a theme park has its down side for sure!!! Many down sides. Just getting into the park is a huge hassle. At Disney it added an hour at least on top of the drive. The perks are nice but yeah is it worth it. Getting time off is the worst at parks. Agree with all you said!!!!

The bus at sdc is just like working at universal. I am in volcano Bay and work overnight and we have to take a bus to our location. Walking is not a option, and that is about a extra 30 to 40 a shift each way. But honestly I wouldn't give it up for anything love what I do!

I'm a bit younger than you, SirWillow. But I am much heftier. (Gotta love the park foods. *wink) I have a history of working at theme parks with my family. But I recently worked as a ride op at SDC. I found the physical demands, and the long hours too taxing. Also turns out that the childhood illnesses I was protected from as a kid, I could get as an adult. So I kept getting sick. Yuck! I enjoyed working at SDC. But my family noted that I was getting burned out and demanded that I quit. If I were "healthier" and lived closer I would go back if I could. Now I just prefer to visit as a guest.

One of the kids in the pictures near the beginning looked oddly familiar...

That probably was Oddly Familiar, who went on to star in a few movies.

Can safely say any job that requires acting is not for me, I'll stick with the piano. Believe me, I did the whole church camp skit thing and it still haunts me.

I would love to go back to Great America California, but it has changed so much. But I will always have the memories and experiences that will last forever.

Great stuff Sir! Like you, I worked Disney (17 years) and SDC (9 years)! Would I again? For a couple days OHYOUBETCHA! Loading Pirate boats for a day would be relaxing to me. BTW- met you at your current job awhile back and you’re right, it’s an amazing place. 😁

Does excessive ice ever shut down the train?
