- Black Ops Declassified was supposed to be the first true CoD experience on the go. It kind of is, in the same way American cheese is kind of cheese. Kacey explores this forgotten chapter in the CoD series and plays its campaign, spec ops and multiplayer-- even if it means a stomachache.

Very late update: I received an email from someone I have verified to have worked for Nihilistic during the production of Burning Skies & Declassified. I was correct about basically everything I deduced about the dev cycle. It was actually even worse than I expected. They asked to remain anonymous & I don't want to risk outing them by providing more details without clearing it with them... but it reinforces my sympathy for Nihilistic & its employees.

@@Aerack I don't think it did have camos at all actually. It was VERY barebones. Still played it a lot because I thought the gameplay wasn't bad.
I actually never tried a whole lot of the multiplayer on Declassified! Mostly campaign. What’d you think of it?
i played a good bit also something about it just felt satisfying
@@etl1234 it was like BO1, but SIGNIFICANTLY scaled back. Only six maps with only four game modes, and every match was capped at 4 vs 4 no matter what game mode. The maps were also rehashes of BO1 maps for the most part (for example, one map is literally Nuketown but cut in half, called “Nukehouse”). The gunplay to me was pretty solid though, and a lot of the guns from BO1 were in the game, so there was gun variety at the very least.
It also helped that everyone else sucked at the game for some reason, so every lobby I got into I was stomping everyone into the ground. That’s probably why I liked the game so much, lmao
This actually looks pretty impressive for what it is, especially knowing the timeline it was developed in now.

Practically every game in the vita library is fascinating some of the games were ambitious but ultimately failures, some were undiscovered gems. I’ve tried to collect as many vita games as I possibly can.

Game could have been so good. The multiplayer was rlly fun but with it's small amount of maps that were tiny in size, it didnt have a lot of replayability. The campaign was like 30 min long and had no story. Maybe a zombies mode could have made it better too, but the main problem was that the game only had 6 months of development.

@@beefjerky007 I remember being very excited for this game and being extremely let down. Compared to every vita game I own it was incredibly underwhelming and barebones. Not to mention the lack of zombies was a huge turnoff as well

I remember playing this game back in 2013 reaching prestige master lmao. I actually still have the cartridge of the game. But imo Killzone Mercenary was just so much better to play.

And Killzone Mercenary was always the best FPS on the Vita. Especially a better Killzone Game than the 4 killzone games.

Last year I got on it throughout the boredom of lock down and I rarely played with the same people more then once or twice

@@igorz3551 I’ve given up on it honestly. I’ll stick to mobile gaming. Now if there is one device in extremely hopeful for it’s the “project ufo” by Alienware, portable PC gaming. THAT is something I want considering I travel for work and can’t carry around my PC everywhere. I’d easily pay $500-800 for that lol. Look it up and tell me what you think

Have you considered checking out Killzone: Mercenary? It's basically the only FPS on Vita that wasn't a disappointment, with a full campaign and multiplayer suite, and the best graphics on the system.

this is easily the most amount of footage for this game that I've ever seen. It's shockingly hard to find footage, let alone quality footage, of this game and all it's modes. I'm so glad this video was made
Honestly as everyone has said over the years, PSVITA was ahead of its time
So was PSP, Sony Xperia Play etc.... I played a lot on all of them and enjoyed them in their prime time, so did many of my friends, but I know that they didn't take off the way they could have. PSVITA could honestly have been released yesterday with todays best smartphone specs and still be ahead of its time in some way, times are always changing.

When it came to shooters it felt like the Vita took a huge step back when compared to the PSP. The Syphon Filters, Socom FTBs, Resistance Retribution were so much better than any shooter the Vita had to offer.
Killzone Mercenary and Unit 13 were better than any shooter I played on PSP

As long as the Switch port is close to the console version, I'd take COD on the Switch than COD Mobile anyday.

For sure I doubt the switch wouldn't be running the newer titles like MW2019 and etc at all. Having BO1 with proper resurrected servers and such would be nice for the switch.

I distinctly remember seeing black ops declassified on the shelves when it came out thinking it was going to be a straight port of one of my favorite call of duty games at the time. Years later i’n glad you made this review so i can feel closure being happy I didn’t end up buying it all those years ago

The clan battle scene on this game was amazing back then. The ability to party up with random clans (when you couldn’t on ps3) and clan battle on declassified led to hilarious interactions and moments. Helped me start my channel
I remember this game being the first one I got for the Vita. Younger me thought this was an amazing game for an on the go COD title.

Quality video as always Kacey! If it's possible, could you check out a game called whiplash? It was released for the ps2 and although bizarre, it's also quite an interesting action platformer.
Love how the game doesn't warn you there's a grenade until it's 3 feet away when the blast radius is 10 feet.

Love this video, actually inspired me to get this game working on my PSTV, but man, I CANNOT deal with the controls. How did you set yours up with reVita? I can’t manage to get Grenades to work
Besides that, the controls make me feel nauseous almost immediately with the input delay etc, how did you deal with that? Its a shame as your video really made me want to give this one a try at last, but at the minute I feel sick almost immediately!
I think it's a testament to what Call of Duty is that you could find matches of a COD Game on the PSVita from 2012. An 8 year old game, on a failed console yet COD still lives.

not really. i did the same thing and it just wasn't playable to my standards as the sticks and stuff felt weird compared to a controller which led to it not feeling like it's console counterpart
It is if you want to play some PS1 and PSP games as well. The store still has a good selection of games (particularly the Persona games) Physical Vita games can go for high prices though.
it is absolutely worth it if you are planning to also hack it, you can basically turn the vita into almost whatever you want thanks to the hacking community

Getting a Vita just for COD? No.
In general? Sure.
I mainly use mine as a PSP Pro with the occasional Vita game here and there like Persona or Gravity Rush. The PSP playback on a modded system is AMAZING. So much better than anything of the PSP models.
To me it's worth it just as a PSP system alone, the Vita stuff might as well be a bonus. Not to mention you can play most of the PS1 library as well.

I still play COD Declassified MP on an (somewhat) regular basis, i agree that since all those years there are still quite a lot of people playing it (in Europe at least), at almost every time of the day i can search for a MP game and i'll find it
And as you said in your video, even after seeing all the flaws of the game, the poor singleplayer campaign, the shitty hostile mode, the MP really is a great thing to play, since i was 7 (cod 4 release) i was dying to see a COD port to PSP, now we (sort of) have it, and i just can't say how much i appreciate being able to play COD MP when i'm at my lunch pause at work
I had about 1-2k hours on this when i was young. I made so many friends on this game, played in full lobbies, trolled people, etc.. and now I haven't talked to or seen them in over 6 years lol

I remember those ads for Black Ops on Vita. Even back then I thought that looked horrible.
It was more stable than Resistance: Burning Skies, and was servicable as an online FPS for the system, at least until Killzone: Mercenary came and blew it out of the water (and became one of the system's best games, as well as become the best game in that franchise).
Do a video on Killzone: Mercenary, as well as other Vita titles as well. Wipeout 2048 (along with its HD and HD Fury DLCs) would also be a perfect place to start on Vita reviews.
I still have my vita and this game. When I moved last year I didn't internet for a couple weeks. I'd hook it up to my phone's hot spot and play online. It scratched the itch I had for wanting to play online with ppl.

Dont trust me don't do it to yourself. Spawn killing is presnt in multiplayer..... low frame drops as well. Its shit 1 hour campaign was a slap to the face. Its bad as he says it is. Play cod mobile instead or killzone on the vita you'll thank me.

Great video. To me having a drifting left analog stick on my Vita the aiming is hard to tell if the aiming is bad sometimes but compared to other first/third person shooters on Vita I have/even PSP shooter controls it foes feel offer. Not tried Declassified on my PSTV or hacked it so no idea how well it works so that was interesting to see as the list is very particular on certain titles. The singleplayer is disappointing but to me while being pick up and play its hard to say if it wasn't a good idea or that they put what they could due to time and made the most of it so I possibly can't say that was a bad thing. Time trials can be good but awkward for 3 stars many times because the timing is really quick and obviously the aiming can be a challenge. And the Operations mode I go with the most and play like an arcade mode in a racing game which I usually never do in games usually, is jump in for a shooter fix every so often. Either way I got ro level 50 easy and I haven't played the multiplayer so I have no clue how fun, crazy or active it is, not that I even know anyone in my area with a Vita. The touchpad/touchscreen is not too bad as I've gotten used to it with other games that uses those features with good to mixed/challenging results, but even still I barely use the grenades and only the knife sometimes due to the AI making it either good or bad timing. Compared to Uncharted or Borderlands 2 as my only other options on the system I have picked up so far (I am looking out for Resistance Burning Skies to get the last one in the series, Unit 13 as never played Zipper's other games and wanted to try it out, and Killzone Mercenary also to finish the series, on the shooter front) it feels alright to have for a first person shooter and I'm not a COD fan and just play the singleplayer offerings and collect games. And compared to PSP shooters like Meal of Honor Heroes 1&2 or Resistance Retribution it feels different but only so much for the camera to move in a direction even when comparing to Medal of Honor Heroes Skirmish with bots. But for 5 months its still pretty good and comparing to other rushed games its impressive still. Either way I appreciate the effort in the video, most just say its bad and call it a day even with a few valid points made with this game and while similar good points were made, coming from someone that understands COD better than I do (I know only a fair amount about the multiplayer side of COD games) it was a good watch. :) To me like with many rushed games its one of the playable and not that bad ones compared to more broken and worse ones to experience. Regardless of the marketing of console quality on the go even the game isn't as much, its still a fun game I go back to just to waste time compared to completimg other games. Either way to me its better than Ridge Racer on Vita (I don't own) compared to playing the PSP ones as my first entry to the series and noticing the dodgey practises. At least Declassified wasn't like that which very much deserves worst of all time.
Replace your Vita's analog stick.
It's not hard to do. and the replacement part isn't expensive. ✌️
Never gonna stop hurting over what could have been. I love my vita but the unrealized potential can make me bitter.

This is a ridiculously underrated game, IMO it was loved when created it was just the time limit they had to make it that it wasn't as polished as it should be, another 6 months of development and this would have been a solid release. I honestly loved it as one of my favourite cods, I liked the smaller maps and quick gameplay as it was only a portable game. More maps, zombies and the game being more polished would have been incredible.

i remember playing this game when i was little and thinking wow this is the hardest call of duty game i only got to level 8 and was stuck on that level because i would jus die an restart from the beggining but i remmeber playing tdm alot an doing good
I used to have this game as a bundle with my Vita lol. Played a decent amount of it, finished the missions and stuff. Wasn't able to try the online multiplayer tho.

I LOVE this game ! It's the reason I even purchased a PS Vita in the first place. Very happy with it and tons of fun. I play it online almost everyday on my breaks.
