Modern Warfare's Nintendo DS Demake

- Modern Warfare was the start of a first person shooter revolution-- but it was also the first of many CoD games on the DS. It's time for Kacey to give these the proper reviews they never get, starting with Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.

Florida man makes call of duty for nintendo DS
The inspiration for the entire “modern warfare” storyline came from Florida man leaving his house
I always liked that they listed inspirational quotes when you died during the campaign
i dont think anti war quotes count as inspirational lmao
One death is a tragedy, a million a statistic
If you want to stay patriotic and make a statement, don't burn the flag - wash it.
I used to play this in middle school with my friends, the multi-player was so fun sitting next to your friend across the table from your other friends playing against you.
This sure is an underrated channel, the quality is at a very high standard for a channel this small in subscribers and the video itself is great. This man deserves more subscribers.
I fondly remember playing this as I didn't have cod4 as a kid. Good times
You seem to forget that the "Crew Expendable" mission in the DS game takes place after two levels of pure chaos.
The game might share the same name as the console/PC legend, but its not meant to be taken as a 100% demake. It is its own thing.
THIS is a throwback - I played this on the bus with the homies
"Remember, no fun." -Makarov (DS)
It's honestly a little sad to see Pictochat so abandoned
Edit: I have so many likes what is this
Ikr. That stuff was awesome
I just remember spending hours with my brother, just messing around on that chat. It was bad*ss
@@Ironicwaffle9503 same. When my family went traveling, my brother and I would spend hours sending messages and scribbles to eachother
Didn't Nintendo shut it down because some man lured in a little girl and assaulted her?
@@nopebaker4789 I thought it just got old and people flocked to the newest stuff
8:44 remember this was meant to be on a much smaller screen than the wii u with a worse back light (I beleive the og ds had worse backlight than the later models) on a portable system which will have to deal with the sun
Kacey still played the game on an actual DS alongside the Wii U for footage. The DS Lite was already out for a year when the game came out.
Also the OG DS's screen isn't that dark. Lite is brighter obviously, but the OG is still perfectly viewable.
@@VexAcer To be fair it's easy to forget how a certain mission looks on the DS, also the OG DS's bottom screen is much dimmer compared to the top screen and yeah in your house it would be easy to see, but in the sun or against the car window that would be difficult to see
The fist ds had a worse screen the even the last gba sp.
I had this game. Brings back memories. As a kid for the longest times on one of the last levels I did not realize you had to crouch to proceed.
Wait just realized that's Modern Warfare Modernized the game after this one.
I actually really like the call of duty DS games honestly only played WAW and black ops but they were fun
MW3 was awesome
This was THE schoolyard game when we all had a DS in grade 3(?). I forgot how much time I spent in this game just battling it out with 2-3 other kids in local multiplayer. Probably the reason my bottom screen was scratched up!
A year late, but great video! I actually can't help but love these DS CoD games, you can tell n-Space put a lot of effort into them for such limited hardware.
Also I loved that pictochat intro, it fits so perfectly.
Download Play was a godsend in my life. With the few friends I had, even fewer had a DS, and fewer still shared a game with me. When we knew a game had Download Play, it was on every time.
I remember playing this game when it came out. Even then I knew it was an imperfect game but it was still crazy seeing an FPS on a handheld back then. Its hard to remember now with super powerful smartphones but having games on the go was still an evolving concept in different genres. If you took a switch to 8 year old me he (I ?) would explode.
I remember getting it in 3rd-4th grade, and playing it on the bus. Fun as hell. Also was nice when we lost power after a tornado and I was able to keep myself entertained till we got power again
The game is actually a side-story to the Console versions.
This was my first cod. I loved it. Although being at my buddies house trying to show it off while they ignored me to play it on the 360 is a bittersweet memory lol
A remember a friend of mine used to play emulated DS ports like these and of later AAA games ... coz his laptop couldn't run the regular PC versions of these new releases.
I like how you used music from Goldeneye: Rogue Agent near the beginning lol. I had no idea a DS port of that game even existed until now.
Man I played this in more than I feel comfortable with in middle school. And truth be told it was my first COD- no PC, no console, nada, just this.
I still love the way 3D graphics looked on the DS. It had the unfiltered textures like the ps1, but didn't have any distortion. I can say I love the ps1's graphics and the DS's 3d graphics the same amount. They are both super nostalgic to me, and I have a soft spot for low res, pixelated, unfiltered textures and low poly geometry.
You know if this game released on N64, it’d be praised as “one of the best FPS games ever made”
That Pictochat intro brought back memories I thought I’d forgotten
I loved the mw2 and call of duty 4 of ds. I could speed run mw2 game in one go with zero deaths. call of duty 4 was a nightmare on the levels where you clear out buildings by yourself.
i love the timing of the things you say line up with the in-game things

Gosh, I really love seeing visuals like this from non-PS1 systems. The N64 had a smudgy, blurry style all its own, and consoles after them obviously dwarfed them completely in terms if visuals. But so too did the PSP, meaning outside of the Saturn, the only system that really could offer chunky, pixelized low-poly graphics like this at the time was the DS. The GBA got somewhat close with some games, but it wasn't common, and they were WAY MORE chunky, therefore not really capturing the same visual identity either.
Found one of these at target and took a picture. Ended up showing the pic to my friends whist repeating "Call Of Duty Modern Warfare For The Nintendo DS"
great video ! I also used my Wii U for my Call of Duty DS Retrospective on youtube ! Very accurate emulator !
If anyone is wondering what music he used at the end.
Battlefield 3 Close Quarters - Operation 925 Soundtrack
I grew up on these games, I had every CoD DS game and used to play Lan vs with my brothers in the living room
As a kid who had both DS call of duty and console ones, they were a great way to play shooters on the go. And I knew it wasn't as good but fun can be had
I played COD4 on DS with Download Play in summer camp as a kid. Good times
I was thinking MW2019 and was *very* confused.
as a kid im blown away playing COD MW on my DS. and yeah it is my first COD game,
the stuff n space did for the ds was crazy for such a console, they really went all out with the models
We used to have 4 of us playing off of 1 Game cartridge for multiplayer at school, imagine that today, not a hope
the intro is A1 creativity
i remember playing this with my friend one time. i was like 7 and had no idea what was happening tho lol
This place holds a special place in my heart even tho it's a far cry from being a good game
This was my first taste of Modern Warfare being like 9 years old lmao
@@brandoncortezemmanuel357 Same
I remember beating the game after playing it a lot on vacation and when I was bored. But thankfully I did have a PS3 and PC copy of the game as well.
Ahh yes I remember playing Metroid Prime Hunter's online. It was the first and only game I played with cheat codes on. Good ol times.
The changes to the pacing of Infinity Ward's level-design was likely intentionally shifted to be quicker in order to make it fit the mobile gameplay. Consider that players of DS's were often playing in public, potentially noisy spaces where they would have to put the DS in standby repeatedly with unpredictable regularity. Play sequences have to be shorter and more bombastic to be able to deliver fun gameplay within an unknown sitting length.
Next video idea: Firebrand's Impressive GRID and DiRT 2 DS ports
I never thought I’d see anyone do videos over these games. My parents didn’t allow me to play M-Rated games at the time and this was my way of playing the “new” CoDs. I liked the CoD 4 and WaW DS games so much I got the next two (Mobilized and BO) even when I had them on console. I look forward to seeing what you think of the WaW game, because I remember it being my favorite for some reason.
Nice choice of outro music (Close Quarters - BF3 Premium)
Pictochat just shot me in the brain holy shit
Kacey has some fine painted nails and I'm absolutely jealous.
Sameeee
I had this back in the day black ops on the ds back in the day, playing zombies was hell because it was 1 hit and you're dead
Me and my bro used to play zombies on black ops for the DS, good times
I need a “X2: Wolverine’s Revenge” review. . .
N-space also developed Star Wars: The Force Unleashed for DS and personally I prefer it to the console version.
Not a bad game at all I played the crap out of the ds version
I played it like 4 times when I was younger and when I rediscovered it, I played it twice through immediately. It's quite short but extremely fun.
Love it, these were my first experiences with COD, this game, the WAW DS, the MW2 DS, and Blacks Ops DS. I would love to see you review the Black ops DS game. The zombies mode on it was my guilty pleasure.
How the hell do you not have more subs my dude, YT algorithm is doing you dirty
my god i remember playing this game lan party style with my older cousin on the Edge64 game catridges you could use to rip roms for DS games. Those were the days.
Let's not forget the mobile versions of these games either. I used to have CoD: WaW back in 2008 and 2009 on my LG enV 1.
I’ve been wanting to cover these for years
@@Kaceydotme it’s kinda crazy in retrospect. I would play it on that weird old phone in 8th grade on the bus. What a time. Seemed revolutionary but now it’s completely forgotten. Kind of like the PSP but even more so.
My first phone was an LG Env3. Sometimes I wish we could go back.
@@Kaceydotme I miss tactile keyboards a lot, not to mention how simpler life was without constant notifications and the infinite scroll.
great video i used to play the cod games on ds when i was a kid before i could talk my parents into getting me the real console version. i used to have fun with it a kids mind is crazy but it was cool
Be prepared for Modern Warfare 2 on PS4 in 2022.
The switch: I’m going pretend I did not see that
So underrated, That intro alone makes you a top tier creator.
i remember playing this on the school bus with my friends. fun times
I’m considering adding the DS CoDs to my collection, never played them before.
God when I was younger, I would play this and the MW3 DS version so much. It was fun when I was young.
Dude! I used to hear the main menu theme a lot! Despice being a port l had so many fun memories with this game.
I just found you and I’m surprised your not at 200k+ subs
Yo you make some of the best videos I don’t know how you have so little subscribers keep up the good work man
i genuinely thought i imagined this game until this video got recommended to me
I played this game a lot, I want to play it again because at the time it was amazing
Very well done vid mate. Speaking of handheld games if there’s one I’d recommend trying is Star Wars: The Forced Unleashed on the PSP and see how that compares to the Xbox 360/PS3/PC versions of the game.
could you cover the advanced warfare last gen port?
In all honestly I think that was one of the better cross gen port.
@@Yodagamer1 yeah the game was intact the weapons feel the exact same the levels are the exact same it got all the dlc’s
My first COD games were the DS ones. Good memories
I had Goldeneye Rogue Agent for the DS and I remember liking it a decent amount. Disclaimer: I was 11 when it released and my only FPS experience at that point was Metroid Prime Hunters.
That intro man..brings back memories.
I actually played this game as a kid and was pretty entertain. I remember not liking the aiming very much
Ok so my memories of playing one WW2 FPS and maybe COD BO 2 on the DS are real
Man I used to go hard on this game back when I had my dsi.
I played a TON of this game with my friends during lunch at school. Download play kept it real.
God I played this and MW2 on my DS SO much back in the day
Oh man I remember this game, I‘ve always played it on the train to school.
“Dumb, head empty”
I had a black ops 2 ds port and glued it on the wall
Nice golden eye rogue agent background music
I hope you do the entire cod franchise on DS
Bruh I think I still have this somewhere
Finally someone made a video on this holy game
Mw3 DS was good too, they did pretty well with that game
Used to play the hell out of MW3 Defiance
wake up babe kacey uploaded
I got this game and Metroid Prime Hunters from a kid at school
Yep, I own this one. Surprisingly fun when you have nothing else to do whilst driving for an hour.
This channel is so underrated
I saw this video and curse you for reminding me of the game that crushed my childhood dreams. I was so happy, 9 years old and finally I was going to be able to play cod with the bois! But once I got home from the store with the cod 4 ds port in my possession I fell into a dark place. To my disappointment the ds port was NOTHING like the game on actual consoles. I was so sad when I realized I weren’t going to be playing with my friends...
When you're working with 4 GB of storage, 256kb flash ram, and 67 MHz CPU/33MHz Co-Processor, you literally have to cost save in literally every single measure. For reference Half LIfe 1 needs a 500MHz CPU, 96mb ram and 16 mb. To be Fair Half Life 1 is only 500mb. The sheer standards of gamers its nuts when you're expecting a Triple AAA game on a literal potato.
great video! i use to play these games when I was young. I'd love to see an analysis on the other two games :)
Lol I played this in middle school during a summer camp in 2009. Then one of the kids’ parents got wind of it and complained that it was too violent...
Lowkey, I loved modern warfare mobilized. It was my first time using Wi-Fi in my life and I thought it was so cool. I was able to play it on my DS really well. Super jank, kind of forgettable, but very fun.
Honestly, I loved the DS versions. We never had the chance to own consoles when I was a kid in a poor family.
I love this game. I discovered so many out of bounds glitches in it
I still have this
Call of Duty: Pixel Warfare
Pretty much
