for soft gradients, I wet my paper front and back, just to the glistening stage and then the paper sticks to your board or table and stays wet for much longer, also a sponge works well for wetting the paper without over wetting it
Appreciate you using paper that’s not 100% cotton. This video seems geared toward beginners and chances are most are not starting with 100% cotton. Heck, I have 100% cotton and I can’t get myself to use it for fear I’ll waste it with a terrible painting. 😂 Thank you for the lesson/tips!
I am a total beginner, all I have done is swatch my paints. I am so very excited to try this! What a fun practice this will be. You broke it down so clearly for a beginner like me. THANKS!
I just love your videos. I absolutely love watercolor painting, but struggle terribly when trying to paint a sky, with clouds. The water to paint ratio always turned my paintings into mud. Your video is perfect , because you walk us through every step. So many artists forget that beginners are clueless, when it comes to the amount of water to use. I have been a “beginner“ for over four years. 😂 I know that it comes naturally to many people, but it doesn’t, to me. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and making your videos. ♥️
Of all the lessons I've had through the years with watercolor, the different tutorials I have watched, this was excellent in explanation of how the colors can blend where you don't want them to, and how to avoid that. Thank You for the excellent tutorial.
Hey Emma! I hope you don't mind if I give you a suggestion.. Since you have soft flat brushes like neptune...try sky gradients with that... flat brushes are the best for gradient...takes much less time, less effort! blends much better, even gradients... And its even better if the brushes are soft! Stiff brushes will give a streaky effect but soft brushes will give gradients to die for!
So happy I found this video as I just made a remark about this very thing on a video you did on doing shading using a gradient. I struggle with my paper drying before I get done. I live in Denver and as I’m just learning it’s a real challenge; any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Please keep posting videos as I’m learning a lot.
Just learned more from your video & have my 100% cotton paper but waiting on better water colors as got Arteza’s & we’re just chalky & could only use it straight out of the tube & when put in pallet (now rock hard & cracking)! Finding out it’s very hard to make sure getting decent ones that have pigment information not just “hues”!
Again sorry I get mixed up with warm and cool paint getting mixed and makes muddy. Is there a pdf that I could have or direct me where to go to get a copy so I can put it up.thank you
@@Aiman.ilyouu there’s a video that she did with the watercolour papers that people comment in It with various links of different countries websites to purchase good quality paper… have a look :)
Thank you for always letting us know it takes time.Practice practice. Because I’m so frustrated with my skies.

Thank you thank you. So many good teachings. You admit to being real and you still have things to practice. Thank toy
I dearly appreciate your videos. Thanks a million 💙

I got the cheap ones and ruined tons 😆.
lol me too
@@thebelyahvlog7059 Same here & now use the good paper but waiting on better water colors (that don’t look & act like chalk or jelly)!
I got Windsor newton paper, 100 percent cold pressed cotton and it SUCKS so bad! I like the non watercolour paper better lol
I have used both sides of my cotton paper for paintings if I am not happy with the first. Go for it😊 Then it's like half off!
Hi Emma and all, I learned from another youtuber to take a tissue, scrunch up well and press on the background. The clouds look perfect! Cheers!
Watching while cooking my tea. Love from UK 🇬🇧👍💕

Skies are certainly an issue for me. Thank you.
Very interesting
Great tutorial thank you for explaining
Thank you. I was trying to do clouds and it all came out so bad until your video. 🥰
Maravilhoso!!!
wow Thank❤️you👍👍👍👍👍awesome.
So much harder than it looks!
Hi, I use MT solids washi paper masking tape and it doesn’t tear the paper.
Lol my beautiful sky became scary with bats flying towards you 😂
For beginners, do you recommend investing in better paper, paints, or brushes, first?
Again sorry I get mixed up with warm and cool paint getting mixed and makes muddy. Is there a pdf that I could have or direct me where to go to get a copy so I can put it up.thank you
I keep getting fine lines on mine. Not sure if it’s to much water or wrong brush.
It's called "yellowish blue" :) . The Action Lab got a whole video about how come the yellow and blue in nature doesn't form green.
Cool. What mop brush do you use? Im looking to get one. :o)
You look gorgeous..
Hi! By any chance do you have any watercolor course at Udemy? Thanks!
When your dabbing the paper is still wet right?
Aaaaay . I'm In the 21st comment and 200th like.
