I don't need an excuse to eat a species-appropriate diet. You call us zombies while mindlessly accepting the theory that animal protein and fat causes disease in humans without any evidence whatsoever.
I heard about this conversation on Good Eats years ago and I love it. Samuel Johnson: "In England we wouldn't think of eating oats. We only feed them to Horses." Boswell: "Well, maybe that's why in England you have better horses, and in Scotland we have better men". James Boswell

@miss tery they live in Schrödinger's world, scientific evidence exists and doesn't exist at the same time, if it's anecdotal evidence that say animal products are the solution to all human illness, it exists, if it's epidemiological, RCCT's, intervention studies and meta-analysis that show animal foods are inferior to vegetable foods, it doesn't exist.

You're a good man. Lots of crazy misinformation out there, keep fighting the good fight my friend.
Oatmeal gives you super powers. Been eating it almost on a daily for 10+ years.
For my oatmeal, I make in the blender a smoothie of 5.3oz (150g) frozen cherries, half a brazil nut (for my selenium needs), a little date syrup, and enough water to fill the blender up to 500ml. I then divide this between 3 jars which each contain about 1.5 ounces (45g) of oatmeal, plus a teaspoon of whole buckwheat groats. I mix it up in each jar, pop on the lids and place in the fridge. Then I have the base of my breakfast ready for the next 3 mornings. Each morning before eating I add one tablespoon of ground flax seeds, and about 1 tablespoon of pumpkin seeds. (If you add the flax seeds earlier it kind of goes slimy, but not if you add them just before eating. If you add the pumpkin seeds fresh too, they stay nice and fresh and crunchy). This is a very quick and filling breakfast that keeps me going all morning, without needing any snacks.
Nice this should keep me satisfied for about 30 minutes before I’m starving again. 🥴

Batch cooked with the Pressure cooker...but first, overnight soaked with sourdough discard... Steal cut oats, red lentils, barley, and quinoa. Then pressure cooked, adding to that... raisins, cinnamon, oatmilk, flaxseed, dates, and if I'm feeling fancy, chia seeds.
I put all that in a large bowl in the fridg. And every night, I'll take out a bit, into a lunch container and add flaked oats, more oat milk, frozen blueberries and strawberries.
And THAT is my oatmeal.

I just looked it up and humans didn't domesticate chickens until 8-10,000 years ago, long after we were eating oats. Oatmeal in the morning is my comfort food.
Problem is, humans have not evolved to eat the excessive amount of carbohydrates that we have since the advent of agriculture 10,000 years ago. It seems we humans have been domesticated by these plants that destroy our health while we dutifully spread their seeds.

Fun fact: When you eat a significant amount of carbohydrates and fat together you activate a biochemical process that is known as the Randle Cycle wherein fatty acids within the cells will block glucose from being metabolized. This glucose will then remain in the bloodstream where it damages red blood cells and endothelial vascular cells. This effect can last for several hours following a meal containing fat and carbs and if regularly activated can lead to chronic systemic inflammation and the diseases that come with it (CVD, cancer, diabetes, etc.) It is a bit more complicated than that but the moral of the story is do not eat oatmeal topped with nut butter.

These cardiologists are clearly after MORE clients! Disgusting.
Exactly.
back in the 80s, there were lots of healthcare professionals, including doctors nurses, who smoked even though they knew it was bad. You can still find some healthcare professionals smoking today outside of the hospital, it's just much less now. This is doctor (if in fact he's a real doctor) is one of these people. They do exist, to the amazement of most.
cool story except There is no evidence that cholesterol is causally related to any disease whatsoever. In fact, lower levels are associated with an increased incidence of death from all causes including CVD.
As long as we keep having a for profit medical system, and keep giving doctors SO LITTLE nutrition and dietary training, we will keep having medical "professionals" giving medical advice that makes people even sicker.
There is no evidence that cholesterol is causally related to any disease whatsoever. In fact, lower levels are associated with an increased incidence of death from all causes including CVD.

As always, a huge hug for clarifying this very confusing info. My daily oatmeal with flax, cinnamon, 3 fruits & sometimes nuts. Top with (gasp!!!)soy milk! Keep up your vigil!❤
Won't the soy milk give us man titties? or is that reserved for the fat paleo guys?

Sad that there is so much misinformation and lies out there. So many people dying unnecessarily every year/ I wonder if the egg or beef industry is paying him???
That people will cause harm and death to thousands of other humans (not to mention the animals) just for money and fame is severely depressing
What??? Are you people really that in the dark? Oatmeal and grains have been pushed on us since the 70’s. Ever since then cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and obesity have exploded. By the way saturdated fats have remained constant since then yet we are more diseased than ever even though we consume “healthy grains”

"the egg industry funded studies show eggs in a more favorable light" there's a shocker
If a researcher is funded by the egg industry and they show eggs in an unfavorable way, they will never get money from the egg industry again. Very strong motivation to say eggs are great in their studies.
I just can't believe this cardiologist. My grandparents in Scotland use porridge oats for breakfast every morning. My grandfather is 91 and my grandmother is 88. Oats obviously don't seem to harm them. It's just ridiculous what this guy is saying. :D
"My source is I made it up"
My usual brekky: Oats with chia, hemp, sesame and flax seeds, crushed walnuts, cinnamon, banana, apple, strawberries, blueberries, avocado, cranberries. It's a mountain! Then I go for a long walk by the river or in the hills. Makes me happy, keeps me healthy 😁
Sweet
How does your lipid profile look? How is your A1C? Just curious.
my father, who mainly eats meat, dairy and eggs with very minimal veggie consumption (my mother forces him to eat at least some) has awful health (he needs to take a butt-ton of meds just to function) because of the way he eats. He has high cholesterol and his doctors, who are in NO WAY vegan nor vegetarian, keep on telling him to cut back on animal products, ESPECIALLY eggs and dairy, because they're literally a cholesterol bomb. Meanwhile I've been on a Whole Plant Based Diet for years and my blood tests and health are spectacular, I haven't got sick ever since, not even a cold. I can't fricking believe Mr. TikTok Cardiologist is out there saying "eggs are healthy and good don't care for cholesterol just trust me bro". And people just blindly believe that because they want positive affirmation to their bad eating habits. Gaddamn.
Cool story. Except, There is no evidence that cholesterol is causally related to any disease whatsoever. In fact, lower levels are associated with an increased incidence of death from all causes including CVD. Just because your father has poor health does not mean you can blame it on animal foods especially when some of the longest-living populations in the world eat a large amount of meat, eggs, and dairy.
@@trentonharris7676 I didn't say my father's cholesterol caused all his illnesses and diseases, I said he has a lot illnesses and among these, he has high cholesterol, and almost all of these are caused by his poor diet choices. I hope you're doing well though, I wish you a good day. Take care.

This tik too cardiologist is crazy. I’ve been a whole food vegan for 3.5 years. No oil , no sugar no salt no animal products and I eat oats about 3-4 times a week. My yearly physical came back perfect. Totally Cholesterol was 124, glucose 64, blood pressure 118/78. Do not listen to this doctor. Plant based is the human diet. The only cardiologist I listen to is Dr Kim Williams. Be careful with this doctors telling you to eat animal products because you will end up in their office being told to take medication or even surgery

I saw his video randomly a few days ago, sooo much misinformation!! Thanks for another great video Mic! He said to keep eating eggs - because he wants to keep his job relevant, by his clients clogging their arteries so always needing a cardiologist.
@@richardcardinale7152 well if you have trouble reading, (maybe from bacon goggles?) Mic breaks it down in the video so all you have to do is listen. Might be easier for you.
Keep letting Mic the Moron think for you. You need to do your own research. Oatmeal is a grain and grains are toxic to humans. Eggs are loaded with bioavailable nutrients. But idc what you do.
I agree with the cardiologist. Human body is not a body made for consumption of grains and seeds. We have a digestive tract meant to eat other animals and animal products. We are meant to eat the "stuff we are made of" - protein and fats. Regardless, oatmeal and carbohydrates in general are bad for metabolic health - hyperinsulinemia, insulin resistance, etc. That doesn't occur with LCHF diets.
Finally someone with a brain
This is why is hard for me to trust doctors and "nutritionist", I saw a nutritionist on Instagram claiming eggs and bacon is a great breakfast!

Those doctors were lied to or they just don't care. In the early 20th century Edward Bernays quite literally propagandized eggs and bacon into becoming the quintessential American breakfast solely to help farmers increase profits. They probably didn't know the health implications this would have back then, but we sure as hell do know now.
Before, breakfast was pretty simple and a lot healthier and more affordable too.
My mother died almost two years ago of colon cancer. She loved eating fried eggs and bacon for breakfast.
Thx Mic!
I've paid attention to the types of foods that alot of centenarians said they would commonly have and oatmeal was one of them

This is like a dentist asking people to eat more candy and chips/crisps. It's good for business...
So frustrating that such misleading people exist and dupe others into their anti-scientific bs, which creates so much harm for everyone :(
It's strange that the body has 5g of sugar in 5 litres of blood, just 1 gram more (about a quarter of a teapsoon) and you would be diabetic, and the body places such importance on this, it almost seems like a sledgehammer to crack a nut but that shows the importance, the level of control for homeostatic regulation, so why does the modern diet have such a high carbohydrate content? It seems there is sugar in everything you eat and drink these days, especially in the US diet. Some European countries are just starting to introduce sugar taxes.
Thanks, this is solid stuff as usual :D
