  • I've been dealing with this for the past 3 months. US customs took my package because they think it's fake. I will never purchase anything without buyer protection ever again not unless it is a friend that I'm purchasing it form.

    At least you know who's got it! My problem lately is after it leaves customs and drops into the great void known by some as the collaborative system between private courier and USPS. I don't buy anything anymore that has a chance of being touched by this "right hand doesn't know what the left hand's doing" joke of a system. These days I simply pay top dollar and get the item in days at the most.

    So did you ever file a petition to get your item back? I have heard most people don't and if they did, it would be months before they are able to win the case. I heard from a few folks on the watch forum that even with real watches, CBP also confiscated their REAL luxury watch and deemed it a counterfeit. They do random screen and once found, I'm sure they pocket the item for themselves.

    Hi Rod soooo happy your were able to resolve this problem. I only purchase from Japan because they have strict counterfeit laws and the US has an agreement with them on that. But Singapore is not that strict. TFS

      I agree with you about Japanese sellers! I've never had a problem purchasing form Japan. This was my first purchase from Singapore and probably my last.

    This is a terrible situation for both parties. I feel bad for what you went through but I also empathize with the seller since she no longer has the item nor any proceeds.

    Stores in Abu Dhabi sold "Bolex" watches that looked very much like Rolex items. They were not counterfeits, but authentic Bolex worth every penny of the $8.00 that they cost.

    What did you do with the letter? Did you have to pay any money? And how did it ended.

    They obviously opened my package from china and didnt put the foam inserts back in the package like they found it and Ups ruined a 65k 3d printer. Now we have to wait forever for a new one. It looked like ups pushed it off a airplane and it landed in the parking lot.

    Wow, that's quite a story! Great video and I'm sure it will help others. Since you're asking our feedback I definitely think you need to go through invoice or pay pal if you are purchasing anything from overseas. I've done FF domestically and fortunate I didn't have problems but probably not a wise decision. Without question, she should have refunded your money immediately when you presented her with the paperwork. Selling counterfeit items is illegal she's lucking that criminal charges weren't filed and it's ridiculous you had to push her to pay. I'm glad to hear that she did the right thing. Cheers!

      Yes, I won't ever go through bank transfer or PP f&f if dealing with someone I don't know...especially if overseas. Now I don' t know if the item is counterfeit...the US customs people were very rude and didn't give me any information. At some points it seemed like they never even saw the item in person and were asking me to describe the item.

    I ordered an item from overseas thru eBay and it was seized by customs. I called FedEx Customs Department and was emailed a form to complete. I completed the form and emailed it back and I received my order within a week. Thank God I had no problems, however, I’m scared to purchase from overseas again.

      @@Joqqr I received a message in tracking that read my package was held in customs. I called FedEx and they explained to me what to do which was to complete a form and email it back. I completed the form and emailed it back and a few days later my package was released from customs.
      BTW ~ When I called FedEx service I asked for customs.

    I ordered a headphone amplifier from Poland six weeks ago. It should have arrived more than two weeks ago.
    The tracking info shows nothing after November 25th, 2019. The last tracking info has the package leaving
    Poland. There is no updated information showing that it was ever even received by U.S. Customs. This has me wondering If the package ever even arrived in the United States. If so, what happened to it once it reached
    US Customs? Lost, stolen, or simply sitting somewhere waiting to be processed.
    Frustrating!

    That really does suck. I feel like for her it is difficult because she can't control the postal system. But as the buyer you also shouldn't have to be out the money or item. It sucks from all angles

      Yes I agree. I think it is the responsibility of the seller though to ensure the item gets to the buyer...and NOT to blame the buyer for not being home...LOL. I worked with her to try and contact customs but customs people here in Minneapolis are complete douchebags! TBH

    Someone kept your shit bro. CBP ain't destroying nothing.
    It's conflict of interest at its finest. I never understood why there is a cost for you to buy shit from someone in another country.
    At most you should have to pay last mile postage but 250$ what is that like 35% tax.
    Whoever inspected that package kept it and sent it to their significant other.
    They seem the value to be $9 but want you to pay 250$ to take ownership what kinda shit is that.
    Bruh the US Government needs to be audited

    Hello , Thanks so much for this video. I sent a package in July to Canada and she had yet to receive, the US Postal service is not helping stating that it is stuck in customs. Do you have a number to US customs , so I can locate the package. The person I sent it to thinks I’m trying to scam them and that is so not the case. Thanks any info you can give me will be helpful.

      The customs office I called is the specific one to where I live and I got the number from DHL. Maybe USPS can help you find the right number.

    I don't think DHL ever got it. This is happening to me right now. I have postal service updates and 3 small boxes coming from Thailand order was placed on Nov 27,2021 on Dec 8, 2021 the tracking on one box said had a shipping date on the 11th the others did not. Well i stayed home all day waiting for my box and it never came. The next day It Said that the box is in ics and it still is. I wrote an Email to postal services on sunday and someone called leaving me a message that the box did have a shipping date on the 9th but is now in ics and it can take up to a month for them to go thru it. I am crossing my fingers that they don't open (not all packages get open unless is suspicious) .

    Unfortunate situation. But it's also difficult as a seller.. you trust and assume that the package will be delivered and shipped appropriately.. but once shipped it's really out of your hands. I know as a seller that would be a very hard pill to swallow because it sucks for them too.. now they have lost their item and have nothing to show for it :/

      If package was already in possession of DHL who only attempted to deliver once, how did it end up in US customs? Something is not adding up?

      I agree with you, but I sell stuff myself and I choose not to send internationally because I know there are more risks involved...risks that I choose not to take.

      so what I've heard is that if they attempt delivery and it goes back to customs...it is the carrier that raised a red flag and turned it over to customs. I couldn't get an answer to why this happened from DHL or from customs.

      That's the fishy part of this story for sure! Apparently when this happens, the carrier (i.e., DHL in this case) for some reason alerted customs and handed it over to them. Why? I don't know.

      @@docLUXURY They didn't try to deliver the item itself, they tried to deliver the notice paper that it had been held in customs. It doesn't go to DHL and back to customs ever. But the tracking number stops tracking the package and instead tracks their notice to you.
      Customs aren't the responsibility of the seller, so long as they have filled in the shipping details correctly. Just as if there was a customs charge, it would be your responsibility. However other countries will give the option to just return the item to the seller.

    So wait! Was it fake or was it just a problem with customs? I got something from Canada, my neverfull roses, that got stuck in customs and I had to actually pay Fedex to get it out of customs for me. It was nuts.

      If it was fake or not, I can't say because I never saw the item in person. I don' t know if the item in the box was the same as the one I saw in the pictures. The US customs people were so rude and not helpful. They automatically said it was fake when I said where it was coming from.

    Please I need help
    I sent a package(Camera) via FedEx in Nigeria to California since November 2021. The camera is worth $6,000. It got to US and the receiver was contacted to clear customs so as to receive it but the receiver said the package should be returned to me being the shipper. Up till now, I am yet to get the package return to me in Nigeria. A shipping label has been created for the package but the shipment is yet to be returned. I don’t even know the location of the shipment.
    I have contacted FedEx in US and they said the package is not with them, I was told it is with the US custom. Why would custom hold my package since camera isn’t illegal in US? Also, I wasn’t even contacted or informed by the US custom
    Please I really need help on how to go about this

    I would pay the compromise amount. If the item proves to be genuine, refund the seller the difference.

      The compromise amount stated was just the minimum suggested and it didn't guarantee getting the item back. I just find it ridiculous that they even offer this option. It sort of feels like bribing them with money to have them look the other way!

      they destroy/return the item. Best course of action is to just ignore these letters

      If you don't respond to the letter within 30 days, they seize and destroy the item(s).

    This usually happens when you lie about what's inside/the value of the package.
    So if it's a Wallet, and they write T-Shirt or Clothing, it will almost 100% get opened/audited.

      I don't think she lied about what was inside. And she said she declared the value at about 75% of what I paid. Why? I don't know.

      Yes. I bought art supplies on Instagram from a company in Germany for 179.00. It took 8 weeks to finally recieve the packages. Meanwhile I purchased again similar items from another company less than half the price on Amazon and it took 2 days for me to recieve the merchandise. Go figure.

    I just wanted to say that im so sorry this happened. It must be heart breaking to find out all of this.
    If i may, the US customs actually protected you from getting a counterfeit item. It was pretty obvious in hindsight(and watching your video) that she was trying to pass off a fake as real.
    Let me list out why.
    1. She overly reacted when customs seized the item.
    2. She proceeded to offer you half the value back in order to drop the case because maybe she didnt want you to persue this incident
    3. The reason customs seized it was not because of under-declaration, but it was counterfeit.
    If that were the case, it was likely it was a counterfeit.
    If it were real, they would still seize it, but the reason given would be under-declaration of value.
    4. The lack of pictures proving its authenticity.

      Thanks for the comment. The seller is pretty reputable on IG and on facebook so I can't say for sure. What I do know is that the US customs agents that I spoke to were very rude and did not help me in any way. On several occasions when I called, they didn't even ask for the tracking number and once I said it was from Singapore they immediately said "Yep, it's fake" . She declared it at about 75% of what I paid for it. Why? I don't know.

      @@docLUXURY thats weird. Maybe you can file a complaint against that particular agent. Honestly though, if an item is authentic, and it is checked by experts within customs for authentication, you shouldnt be receiving such a notice. If they did assume it's fake, then they are complete idiots. Why would anyone in their right mind declare an item as being worth a few hundred dollars for customs purposes when they clearly know it is counterfeit. If i were to purchase a counterfeit item knowingly, i definitely wouldnt want the seller to declare the item as being worth a few hundred dollars. The custom people really didnt have any common sense. Did you ask why it is fake? Because there is a real flaw in their logic. Their logic is because it comes from singapore, therefore it is fake. So basically they are saying that all products from singapore are fake. That is definitely not true for the majority of cases.

    U were both wrong, it's Singapore which I know is a stereotype but it is for a reason. Also, for that amount and due to location, u were so wrong not to use PayPal, an them as the seller pays the seller fees, not you, so as a buyer u wouldn't have had to pay the fees. But with all I think u did wrong, as a seller, the item is their responsibility until it's delivered to you, so in the end, she should've refunded you and I'm glad she finally did.

      I can't honestly say that it was a fake item because I never had it in my possession. I put this video out to tell of my experience and to show what happens when packages are seized by customs. Please send me a DM or email me and I'll share the seller. I don't want to do it here because they could get youtube to take down my video.

    Buying a new "brand name" item from Singapore is obviously going to be counterfeit. If you go to the manufacturer's website, you can buy direct or use their locator to find authorized dealers. Obviously, a $650 item is probably going to require a signature and the buyer should be responsible enough to take time off to accept that package (like I just did yesterday) or have it delivered to a location that sign for it for the buyer. US Customs (5:50) are not supposed to be for you, their job is to make sure items entering the US are doing so legally. In essence, they are there to stop people like you from breaking the law. Instead of blaming everyone else, accept the responsibility that you did wrong, like an adult.

    Why the hell you don’t answer people questions when they ask you to help them with questions like:
    What option from the letter did you choose?
    Did you end up paying any fee?
    Did you get your package after taking whatever decision you made?
    But no you are just answering stupid comments. You are not helpful at all my friend.
