What if Merope had survived? What if Tom Riddle Sr. hadn't abandoned Merope? What if Tom Riddle was sorted into Ravenclaw? What if Tom Riddle was sorted into Gryffindor? What if Tom Riddle was sorted into Hufflepuff? What if Neville Longbottom had married Luna Lovegood? What if Luna's father had died along with her mother?
go back enough generations even IRL, you will find everyone is related to everyone else. a certain mathematical proof that alludes me now states that you are, at most, a 50th cousin of any other person on the planet
besides, pureblood wizarding families are almost always related of some sort and both Voldemort and Harry had a parent who was a pureblood from a very old family.
But it connects with the Deathly Hallows story. Harry is the youngest brother who accepts death. Voldemort is the oldest brother, he wants the unbeatable wand. We just have to find the 3rd, there are candidates tho. Edit: It's not that big mistery. Dumbledore is the one who gets the stone, and first joyful, but eventually it kills him. This leads me to make this theory: the story of the three brothers is a prophecy told in metaphors.
Sgt. Banzi isnt Voldemort the second brother who wanted to cheat death? It makes more sense. And Dumbledore in his youth wanted to seek power just like the first brother. But Harry totally fits the third brother(who is ironically his ancestor)
Sgt. Banzi Snape is the middle brother because he was in love with Lily and when she died all he wanted was to bro g her back like the middle brother's fiance with the resurrection stone.
And that was after he had the idea of evolution and imbreeding caused sicknesses were known to him. Thats why some say he wanted to experiment on his own children. But thats just so awfull i cant believi it. Well greater good leads us in the worst places, so it might be true after all. Who knows? 😵😵😌😢
How did Snape or Dumbeldore not know that Mad-Eye Moody was Barty Crouch Jr? Both are meant to be very skilled at Occlumency, yet neither knew who he was. I understand that maybe Snape didn't want to read Moody's mind, or Dumbeldore would have trusted him too much. But, surely they must have picked up something? Love the channel btw!
I think that version of Harry would get along with Draco when he first reached Hogwarts, wouldn't wanna be friends with Ron and would really want to be in Slytherin.
Harry would not be in gryffindor. He would be in slytherin and be almost exactly like Draco, but be even worse. He would enjoy his fame and have little followers like Draco. He would end up like Tom riddle too.. He would bully hermione for being a muggle born and the Weasleys for being poor. He would be even more like his father..
What if Snape married Lilly? What if Lilly & James survived? What if Harry married Hermione and Ron married Luna Lovegood? What if Snape killed Voldemort? What if Dumbledore lived? What if Harry was a death eater? What if Voldemort's mom didn't use a love potion on his dad? What if Harry went to Ilvormorny? What if Harry used the Elder Wand instead of break it?
What if Merope lived and raised Tom by herself; or maybe with the "help" of her brother? Going over Tom still feeling abandoned, but yet still knowing his pure blood family.
I do wish that there was more info. If I had to guess it was the in pure inbreeding that led to the true down fall, it caused the mental illnesses that lead to their inability to think rationally.
Gaunt has a double meaning here; Gaunt literally means harrowed and wasted looking, much like the family became, and a reference to John Of Gaunt, forebear of the Lancastrian side in the British dynastic War Of The Roses. He was named so as an off-pronunciation of his birthplace, what is now Ghent, Belgium. Since his lineage started an English civil war (not the one with Cromwell and Charles The First), it ties in again to Slytherin's descendants.
Hi Harry Potter Folklore. I've never been this early. I would just like to say, Thank you so much. For making content for me to enjoy, and for many. I really enjoy your HP content. Thanks so much. Would you be able to do "Defensive Vs Offensive spells : Which would be better in a duel?" In my opinion, Defence would just be until the right moment to strike a single, fatal, offensive spell. I'd really appreciate it if you'd do this. Yours truly, Kitty
_KittyKat: Instead of saying "defensive spells versus offensive spells", why don't you say, "a dedicated defensive duellist versus a dedicated offensive duellist"? In that way, it would be Snape vs Voldemort.
+Harry Potter Folklore Always a pleasure to see a new video from you and learn a little more about the vast world of Harry Potter. Keep up the good work.
How was quril a teacher before harry attended? Wouldn't voldemorts curse effect him like the others? (im talking about before he served voldemort in the philosophers stone)
Could u do a video explaining when Ron and Hermione individually realised their feelings for eachother and how that's show in the books and films?? U rock x
Really enjoyed these videos! What would have happened if Voldemort stunned Lily Potter not killing her? As he did give her the chance to step aside? I know I wasn't in his nature to stun but he did say to her to stand aside for Snape.
Hello 1st of all I love your channel 2nd of all I was wondering if I could make a suggestion for a topic video. So I'm a fan fiction writer (not the creepy kind) and one of the characters in my story used the killing curse to save her own life as well as someone elses. A friend of mine however pointed out that this would land that person and Azkaban without question I brought up the counterpoint that if you shoot someone in self defense in the real world 9 times out of 10 you're not going to jail we ended up having a pretty heated argument out of it so I guess the topic is whether using one of the unforgivable curses or in self defense will land you in jail or not or if there is some kind of special exception. I honestly couldn't think of any situation in the books where a killing curse was used in such a way so I wanted to ask someone who is more into this stuff than me. And just because I feel like I should bring it up the situation in my story was life-or-death against a dark wizard.
*Shane Christensen* You can't really use the killing curse in a situation (self defense) like that. The curse requires great skill and must be learned like any other curse or spell in order to perform it correctly. It also requires a *genuine willingness desire to commit murder.* Without it, the curse wouldn't work. It was declared by the Ministry of Magic that use of any Unforgivable curse on a human would carry the punishment of a life sentence in Azkaban. The only thing that would help someone who used it would be if he was under the influence of the Imperius Curse. However there was one exception in the First Wizarding War. When Barty Crouch Snr (who was in charge of the Department Of Magicial Law Enforcement) fought violence with violence and legalized the three Unforgivable Curses *but only for the Aurors who fought against the Death Eater.* (Don't know in what time your character lives and if she was a Auror or not.)
Hi Harry Potter Folklore I would love if you made a theory about. If Sirius Black didn't go after Peter Petegrew and what if Dumbledore gave Harry to the Order of the Phoenix and lived with Sirius Black
No, it's a event that is only held between the three largest wizarding schools of *Europe.* (Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Durmstrang Institute, and Beauxbatons Academy of Magic.)
What happened to the Gaunts was what basically happened to the Habsburgs over time: too many marriages between close relatives. That leads to genetic problems long term.
I think it's ironic that as descendants of Salazar Slytherin, the Gaunt family crest has all the other houses colours (blue, yellow and red) and not a trace of green to be found..
Can you do a video on your opinion on how magic was first created? I keep thinking of howl getting his magic from howls moving castle or the star catchers that two authors (I can't think of their names right now) wrote the books on how they think magic came about for Peter pan and never land. Maybe it's the same for Harry Potter that magic came from the stars.
*Fact 1:* Fleur DeLacour is female. *Fact 2:* She is french. *Fact 3:* Fleur has one sister. *Fact 4:* Fleur was a TriWizard champion. *Fact 5:* She marries a Weasley.
At my school there are 4 houses just like hogwarts. Each has colours as well. They are, Davies(Yellow), Anstey(Blue), Bowles(Green) and Reid(Red). I was placed in yellow which I considered Hufflepuff.
In my opinion, much like what happens to different native tribes is I believe because of the ways back then there were more pure bloods, but because of old school views and hatreds for muggles, much like whites and natives didn't get along back then. But assimilation plays a part, However. When muggles started killing wizards and witches, families declined on those views, so that way wizard families could have enough muggle blood in their families not to be put to death or go unseen. In fantastic beasts a quote was "before we went into hiding much of us hated our magic and so suppressed it (forgot what that was called??) but anyhow with gaunt being 100% they had to inbreed to keep the percentage alive, meanwhile lots of other wizards became okay with muggle families and lost those views and so did the tight focus on pure bloods, therefore decreased the hype of being pure blood because protection of muggles while having magic on the low became increasingly more favorable. Much like today how outer tribe or different tribal members marrying is a more socially acceptable thing. Protection, muggles obliviousness during the great hunt of magical beings, and modern views tore the legacy of the gaunt house down and so the school got rid of the house to focus on more general forms of sorting people into housing by personal characteristics, rather than family traits. My take on it tho
I've always believed that one of the main reasons Voldemort was so powerful was because of his muggle blood. The Gaunt's were so starved of genetic diversity, I've always wondered why Voldemort never made the connection for himself. It's been awhile since I read the books, did the Deatheaters know about his half blood status?
@Harry Potter Folklore Can u please do a video tomorrow about Albus Potter's first day at Hogwarts? Because he's going to Hogwarts tomorrow due to tomorrow being when the Deathly Hallows epilogue takes place.
What if Tom Riddle didn’t hate his father? What if Tom Riddle didn’t hate muggles? What if Voldemort didn’t kill James and Lilly? What if James and Lilly survived? What if Harry married Luna? What if Neville married Hermione? What if Merope didn’t use the love potion? What if Tom Riddle didn’t make the horcruxes? What if Ron and Ginny were left alone? What if Voldemort was sorted into Gryffindor? What if Voldemort was sorted in Ravenclaw? What if Voldemort was sorted into Hufflepuff?
Should've mentioned that Voldemort literally ended his own family line, I think, think he murdered his muggle father, but also killed his uncle in azkaban who had no kids so the family line ended. That's making me think quite a few Pure-Bloods who hate half bloods/muggles have actually ended their own pure-blood line
The Gaunts might have been a mixture of elements of The Habspburg family of Germany and Austria, whose inbreeding led to a legendarily bad outcome and even dynastic wars when the line waned in Spain. The name Gaunt itself seems to be from John Of Gaunt, a royal of the English House Of Lancaster, actually its founder, whose descendants played prime roles in the Wars Of The Roses that tore England apart for a generation. His name was actually a local corruption of his birthplace Ghent, which is now in Belgium. Unsurprisingly, lots of things in HP may derive from British history.

Harry James Potter if you look closely, you'll see that their birth years are different. Cadmus was born in 1214 and Slytherin was born in 963AD. He would be at least 250 years older.
Would Gaunts joined Voldemort if they survived and/or had other descendants besides Voldemort? Since Voldemort is: 1) half-blood from the muggle family they hated 2)illegitimate son of looked down Merope and by that a disgrace for their family name

LOOOOOOOL
Reagan Johnson Neville Longbottom didn't marry Luna.
Luna married Rolf Scamander
Reagan Johnson impossible. Tom riddle is like the definition of slytherin
so... since harry is a descendend from the peverell family... and so were the gaunts... then voldemort and harry are family of some sort
go back enough generations even IRL, you will find everyone is related to everyone else. a certain mathematical proof that alludes me now states that you are, at most, a 50th cousin of any other person on the planet

Life lesson... Dont marry your cousin
BaumGlory actually Voldemort was based on Adolf Hitler.
You know that Darwin married his first cousin? The irony is insane, some say that it was an experiment, i doubt it tho.
And that was after he had the idea of evolution and imbreeding caused sicknesses were known to him. Thats why some say he wanted to experiment on his own children. But thats just so awfull i cant believi it. Well greater good leads us in the worst places, so it might be true after all. Who knows? 😵😵😌😢
Ha
Then at least PureBlood supremacy wouldnt be as bad
How did Snape or Dumbeldore not know that Mad-Eye Moody was Barty Crouch Jr? Both are meant to be very skilled at Occlumency, yet neither knew who he was. I understand that maybe Snape didn't want to read Moody's mind, or Dumbeldore would have trusted him too much. But, surely they must have picked up something?
Love the channel btw!
What if Harry was raised like Dudley also first
Jake ORegan you were 3rd
That is a very great question
I would like this comment, however, I find that people who comment "first" on videos are stains on this planet.

i wish they had a nod to Merope's story in the movies. i found it really interesting and heart breaking at the same time
What if Snape married Lilly?
What if Lilly & James survived?
What if Harry married Hermione and Ron married Luna Lovegood?
What if Snape killed Voldemort?
What if Dumbledore lived?

What if Voldemort's mom didn't use a love potion on his dad?
What if Harry went to Ilvormorny?

Well if snape had married lily, it wouldn't have been garret potter
What if Merope lived and raised Tom by herself; or maybe with the "help" of her brother? Going over Tom still feeling abandoned, but yet still knowing his pure blood family.
Here's a what if topic for you:
What if merope gaunt never stopped giving love potion to tom riddle sr?
I do wish that there was more info. If I had to guess it was the in pure inbreeding that led to the true down fall, it caused the mental illnesses that lead to their inability to think rationally.
Trigger warning
What happened if Umbridge was good?
...... How could she be good. She worse than Voldemort! Voldemort??!!
Voldemort was worse.. She didn't kill anyone or anything..
No!
Cedric Diggory So, you weren't there for her torture Diggory.. you were dead. Vampires...
Impossible😂😂
I was really interested in the gaunt family story in the books. Shame they didn't include it in the movies
Does anyone else think that some of the questions are so obvious!! Like, it was all explained in the books.......
I agree. Isn't there some Harry Potter Silmarillion out there?

Don't know why but I'm really interested in the Gaunt family. It was nice to see a video about them
Hi Harry Potter Folklore I would love if you made a theory about. If Sirius Black didn't go after Peter Petegrew and what if Dumbledore gave Harry to the Order of the Phoenix and lived with Sirius Black
Ravenclaws Rave Forever I'm a ravenclaw
Ravenclaws Rave Forever the only reason I'm replying is because you are I ravenclaw like me😂😂😂
Did Ilvermorny ever participate in the Tri-Wizard tournament?
No, it's a event that is only held between the three largest wizarding schools of *Europe.*
(Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Durmstrang Institute, and Beauxbatons Academy of Magic.)
LS*
There are obviously more than three schools, although we don't know them. I don't think that only in 3/50 countries are magical people.
YouMad? I know them there is Hogwarts, Beauxbatons, Durmstrange, Ilvemorny, CasteloBruxo, Mahoutokoro and Uagadou.
Estella jaques and a Russian school called Koldovstoretz.
shooketh • really I never heard of it,. thank you for telling me
What happened to the Gaunts was what basically happened to the Habsburgs over time: too many marriages between close relatives. That leads to genetic problems long term.

The Harry Potter world has so many details it’s hard to believe someone made it all up

How powerful is Neville Longbottom?
At my school there are 4 houses just like hogwarts. Each has colours as well. They are, Davies(Yellow), Anstey(Blue), Bowles(Green) and Reid(Red). I was placed in yellow which I considered Hufflepuff.
Why did Igor Krum entered the room that had the Goblet of Fire?
What happened to the house of Slytherin?
What if Fawkes never came to save Harry?
Then I doubt I would have eventually defeated Voldemort.
You forgot about Isolt's side of The Gaunt family.
WOOWWWWWW HOW DID I NOT KNOW ABOUT THIS?!?!??!?!
I didn’t even know there was a Gaunt House
Mayweather vs Tom Riddle.......who would win In a fight???:D
Mayweather duuuhhh
Isidor Trondsen tom riddle
no wayweather
Tom riddle duhhh one Avada kedavra from Hume and mayweathers a dead man
Mayweather *punches tom*
Tom or Voldemort:AVADA KEDAVRA
I've always believed that one of the main reasons Voldemort was so powerful was because of his muggle blood. The Gaunt's were so starved of genetic diversity, I've always wondered why Voldemort never made the connection for himself. It's been awhile since I read the books, did the Deatheaters know about his half blood status?
Most likely yes. He openly spoke of his muggle father in the graveyard scene of #4 (book and movie.)
Bellatrix didn’t know she called Harry the half blood and he told her that her master is a half blood too
What if Hagrid never existed in the Harry Potter series
Heres something you to do
The Potter family line.
from the first Potter to Harry
I didn’t know the Gaunts had a coat of arms.
@Harry Potter Folklore Can u please do a video tomorrow about Albus Potter's first day at Hogwarts? Because he's going to Hogwarts tomorrow due to tomorrow being when the Deathly Hallows epilogue takes place.
1:20 - The Gaunts 100 years later
i wish the Gaunts where in the movie as i feel that was a big thing to leave out
Do "Has Snape ever given any points to Gryffindor?"
Well Voldemort turned out fine.... oh
So Voldemort gets off on the fact that he’s a descendant of Slytherin, but hates the his ancestors in between. What a prima donna
I think it would have been better if Delphini had been Mrs. Gaunt's great-grandaughter
Life lesson don't stop giving a love potion if ya start
Hi!
Could we have a video for drarry ;)
65th view!! Good video by the way!!
What if Merope had lived? Do you think Tom would have grown up differently?
Wait was Merope gaunt the mother of Tom Riddle is that why Tom riddle is the heir of Salazar slytherin
Perhaps it's bc my hubby is Scottish & I am Irish, but I ❤️hearing you talk! lol 😁
Where are my hufflepuffs at
Hey, that's my families Coat of Arms!
Like Henry the 14th, that's what occurs when you marry between family-health/genetic decline.
I have a theory potter folk told. How why did Tom riddle chose the objects to be his houcruxs
Should've mentioned that Voldemort literally ended his own family line, I think, think he murdered his muggle father, but also killed his uncle in azkaban who had no kids so the family line ended.
That's making me think quite a few Pure-Bloods who hate half bloods/muggles have actually ended their own pure-blood line
he didnt kill his uncle he blame him for his fathers death and send him to azkaban (sorry for my english)
Bro your the man
0:48 lin-EE-edge, not LINE-edge.
What would've happened if Voldemort fully possessed Harry in OotP?
Tom Riddle is related to the gaunts
The Gaunts might have been a mixture of elements of The Habspburg family of Germany and Austria, whose inbreeding led to a legendarily bad outcome and even dynastic wars when the line waned in Spain. The name Gaunt itself seems to be from John Of Gaunt, a royal of the English House Of Lancaster, actually its founder, whose descendants played prime roles in the Wars Of The Roses that tore England apart for a generation. His name was actually a local corruption of his birthplace Ghent, which is now in Belgium. Unsurprisingly, lots of things in HP may derive from British history.
Yeah they had a Spanish king who was born sterile, starting the Zeroth World War over who would succeed him

Harry James Potter if you look closely, you'll see that their birth years are different. Cadmus was born in 1214 and Slytherin was born in 963AD. He would be at least 250 years older.
What about Voldemort’s and belitrixs kid you know the cursed child wouldn’t she count as a member as the house of gaunt
Technically yes.
I think her surname could be Black, riddle,or Gaunt.
Depending on whether she's named after her mother, father,or grandmother.
When I hear Gaunt I think of Children of the Lamp lol
I wonder if he'd found the Gaunts earlier in life if he'd have seen them more as a cautionary tale rather than a perversion?
There is still one remaining gaunt, Delphini Riddle
Who's gotten life in Azkaban, so the family is basically dead already.
Would Gaunts joined Voldemort if they survived and/or had other descendants besides Voldemort?
Since Voldemort is:
1) half-blood from the muggle family they hated
2)illegitimate son of looked down Merope and by that a disgrace for their family name
Given the Gaunt family's history of incest Merope and Morfin's mother was probably Marvolo's sister.
