I have enjoyed watching your videos and the progress you are making on the catamaran. I am impressed with your patience, persistence, and attention to detail. I also watched your video on varnishing tips. I am finishing my 3rd kevlar/carbon + glass solo canoe and I am planning to varnish it to protect the epoxy. On my 3 previous strip solo canoes and kevlar canoes I have always used a foam brush to apply the varnish, but I inevitably get holidays. The roller looks like a better approach. I have looked for the roller that you recommend on Amazon and I've googled it, but I can't find it (I only get European pages when I've googled). Do you think any superfine roller will work? Is the one you are using polyurethane, microfiber, and nap (I can't tell from the video)?
Bob, Hi, I can't find when or where I ordered the rollers from and haven't found them from our usual online venders. They are a superfine polyurethane roller. Not sure if they will all perform as well as these. Will let you know if I find one that works as well, ordered some from Amazon today. Best to you.
Bob, The rollers that we ordered from Amazon did a comparable job to the ones shown in the video. Search for FOAM PRO 185 Foam Paint Brush Refills, Pack of 2 on Amazon. They specify can be used for varnish.
OMG! WOW! Did that make varnishing easy and quick plus beautiful results. I bought 4" foam rollers at Home Depot and they did the trick. Many thanks for the advice.
