1993: Convicted school shooter Brenda Spencer speaks with San Diego's News 8 - PART 3
Вставка
- Опубліковано 12 чер 2019
- On January 29, 1979, 16-year-old Brenda Spencer opened fired from her home across the street from Grover Cleveland Elementary School in San Diego. She killed principal Burton Wragg and custodian Mike Suchar. Eight students and one police officer were injured. In 1993, News 8 reporter Mitch Duncan spoke with Brenda Spencer about that day and her life in prison. This is part 3 of that interview.
Imagine telling your dad that you have been trying to commit suicide and you're depressed.....and he goes and buys you a gun.....just imagine how that must feel.
According to her siblings, she was begging for a gun for a long time before he finally bought her one. I agree that it was irresponsible to buy her one, but that's more context that's not well known.
thats very similar to the james/ethan crumbley case
she told a friend on Saturday that she would be in the news on Monday. Premeditation
um... she didn't have friends
@@sol-ez3xb Her friend's name was Brent and he did say that
@@anityyu yea i did some research, my bad
@@sol-ez3xb did you watch the interview with Brent?
If it was premeditated, she didn't need drugs for that, which proves her actions wasn't because of the drugs -- it was because of HER! Many have had a rotten childhood and don't end up like that!
She says she was on drugs at the time of the shooting but she tested negative when tested after taken into custody
She doesn't want to take accountability for her actions.
She said there were two different test
She also says the drugs only kicked in right before she did the deed, but that's not how anything works
@@tylerjdavis Especially is she was under the influence of PCP. THE POS is up for parole again in September. God forbid she gets parole.
She shot 10 people and injured a cop, that doesnt happen on accident, she was aiming for them
"Oh I hope everyone is doing okay" "hope I didn't scar them for life" woman...you're beyond help. Sickening
That right there shows her true nature. She is a sociopath incapable of true remorse.
@@tinazapata1379 i think she was the first mass shooter too. She was 16. The Texas shooter was 18 and the Buffalo shooter was 18. Wtf is wrong with people??
She was the first school shooter that i am aware of. I saw an interview of one of her victims. He was shot in the chest. He said he was wearing a blue vest. Blue is her favorite color. He said everyday he thinks of that shooting when he sees the scar.
who here because of bailey sarian lol
You know it!
Hahaha all the time

She's a psychopath. She needs to stay in jail. Anyone who would willingly shoot at children with intent to kill cannot be trusted to be free in society.
I thought she tested negatively for drugs and alcohol. The bottles were her dad's.
she literally said there were two tests.
There's LITERALLY more info available online than just here. Calm down
Yeah she tested negative for both test
She did.
She said something about her being on pcp (or some kind of psychedelic drug) and with most of those types of drugs it’s almost immediately out of ur system when u stop feeling the symptoms, and since she barricaded herself for around
seven hours (and was probably inside the house the entire morning) it makes a little sense that the police couldn’t find anything in her system; and same with the alcohol she could’ve easily drank a bunch of water and flushed it all out her system (either on purpose or on accident) before being tested. And even if her erratic decision was made while just on a mix of pills and alcohol she still could’ve flushed it all out
She's a liar when she says wasn't aiming at them, couldn't see them, and was aiming at hallucinations. This was her first parole chance year. It failed and she's failed every one since and is still in jail almost 40 years later.
She shot people a 100 feet away. I cant believe some of these people who think they're like empathetic if they believe her
Good 💯💯💯
Thank God!
She’s BS! I can’t even listen to her!
Wow ngl
You can see it in her face she’s lying or doesn’t want to say something. Also pcp is one hell of a drug if she really was on pcp I kinda believe that she had absolutely no idea what happened or why
@@saggin4853 especially drinking whiskey with it
Good thing you're irrelevant then.
Wtf are you?
After 40 years of heavy institutionalization. She'll struggle on the outside. And prison makes people unpredictable. I'm not sure if society is ready for her or, she, for society.
She will never be considered for parole. Not only is her crime horrifically violent but she takes no accountability for her actions. She sounds ridiculous grasping at any excuse for why she is not accountable.
That and the toxicology report comes back Squeeky clean…. No drugs, no booze 🥃 after all these years she still lacks in maturity…….. such a waste
Crack me up Brenda PCP who your dealer? 😅
I guess she didn’t know what tox screen was then and that it would show she was lying. She coulda done pcp before but not this time if the tox screen states she was clean.
You're too damn sure. She wouldn't be the first or the 10 thousandth to be paroled after a life in prison sentence. Less than 5 years after Spencer's conviction, Laura Troiani was sentenced to "life in prison without parole," she is a free woman today living among us.
Long after the victim's families have moved on and moved away or died, the perpetrator's supporters are still working full time to get these people off. There are scores and scores of legal organizations that do nothing but fight convictions and seek release of dangerous criminals. Well funded groups like the euphemistically named "innocence project," which brags about all the killers they have gotten released from prison. Adnan Syed is another recent example.
Agree
Time for a new interview, it's 27 yrs later and up for another parole hearing in 2021.
You mean 37
She reneged on 2021, not it's 2022.
@@TaraW1982 27 years since the Interview.
She's still crazy and still doesn't like Mondays.
Who's here after see the post about her?
The " commandos " didn't come until the shooting was over !!!! I don't buy the excuses !!!!!!
I just can t believe she is saying the whole truth. You did scar all the families that suffered your violence. I just can t believe her. I think she should stay in jail all her life.
I agree!
Me too!
"I sit here and you're filled with remorse" and then she starts acting all choked up finally. I mean was the interviewer on pcp? 😂
He gave her the riffle because he didn’t wanna go to prison for raping her because eventually it would come out. If she woulda just said that i think her father would have gotten accessory to the murder. She’s sad and crying unlike the other serial killers we’ve seen in interviews. She’s not exactly intelligent type in this interview.
Sexual abuse is not just something people believe. Their brains don’t want to believe something so terrible happened to them so young. I believe nobody believed her at the time cause times were definitely different. I know many cases that just weren’t taken seriously especially from those times.
Shes disturbed
I was sexually abused as a child. I would never in a million years consider doing anything like what she did on that awful day! The father was just as sick for buying her a weapon!
She looks and reminds me of Jeffrey Dahmer here. In 1979 she looked like she could be Axl Rose’s sister.
Just look at that mullet its majestical.

This lady is a liaaaar! I don’t believe anything she’s saying! You knew that school was back there! 🙄

Another brilliant "journalist"
Blanked it out, dangerous person
@@yvonnemulder9038 alternatively it was psychosis, drugged off her rocker, or full detachment from reality due to trauma which drugs make much worse. It pays to remember that we are not psychologists, nor are we aware of every last detail of the case. Blanking out is more common than you realize with a huge range of mental disorders, from paranoid schizophrenia to a coping method for abuse.
she wasn’t on drugs
Total lies right from the beginning, she was tested for drugs and alcohol when she was arrested and came up negative for both.
How can one be cognisant of one's actions after having consumed quantities of drugs and alcohol, as the interviewer and "certain people" seem to suggest? She was indeed probably out of it at the moment of committing the offence. That, in my mind, does not make her actions any less reprehensible, because any normal person - and this lady is normal, make no mistake - knows that the combination of drugs, alcohol, a shotgun, 500 rounds of ammo, depression and having an axe to grind with society at large, is a tragedy waiting to happen. The father should have been brought to book as well.
There were no drugs in her system, at the time of her arrest genius
People can build a tolerance. But either way if your in a drug rage coupled with having any type of mental or emotional disorder & having an episode: things with that individual can bad quickly unfortunately. Now I'm not saying that's what this is & this is what she was reacting from. I'm not excusing her actions at all. I'm just explaining what could happen when dealing with someone who has disorder & or has disorders but is also a substance abuser.
I agree that the father should’ve been held accountable, as well.
@@sky.the.infinite she said her father raped her

Wouldn't matter if she took all the drugs. Lots of people take lots of drugs and never even think of hurting anyone
Brenda, wow,A black empty soul. This lady is really sick. She's so so cold and there's zero emphathy or remorse for what she did. She tries so hard to try and act as if she regrets the events of that fateful day but Its just not working.

Crazy woman should never be free
Kelly Norman I know it seems insane for me saying this, but I agree. Everyone should be forgiven. People make mistakes.
@@emilyustick3738 Are Hitler & Stalin forgiven?
Kelly Norman she’s not taking responsibility for her actions. She’s admitting to shooting a gun. That’s it. But other than that she shifts all blame elsewhere. And they’re bad excuses.

Kelly Norman you’re* their* which* their*
She was a young kid on a lot of bad stuff. None of us know her story. She acknowledges everything she did and knows what she did. I don't know what she deserves and I am sure she has served lots of time and has changed. Kids can do things and not even realize what they've done. If she was on PCP she didn't even know what she was doing. PCP completely removes you from who you really are.
By far the dumbest fucking comment I’ve ever read. I think I lost fucking brain cells.
@@yourewrong16 You never had any brain cells
@Eric Cartman Kids are kids, not adults.
She knew exactly what she was doing and your ass justifying this bullshit.
Her parents are more to blame especially father.
Why is she asking like she’s wiping away tears? Her eyes are completely dry! She has no remorse and being on drugs is not an excuse.
She needs to stay in jail...The 2 men she murdered won't be going home
The children she shot needs to feel safe..
She looks so calm
Exactly...that's Scary
She’s probably medicated
She behaves as though she's been coached by her attorney.
3:06 When she claimed that she can't remember saying 'I hate Mondays' she had a trace of a smirk on her face. That tells you all you need to know: Duper's delight. Either that, or she still finds what she funny to this day, which is possibly even more sickening.
"This interview was like 40 years ago tho. We have no idea what she's like now

Indeed. At her recent parole hearing she denies any memory of the events
Her tic screen came back CLEAN she also claimed that there’s another tic report of lethal amount of drugs then she says there’s no test for PCP 🤔
She’s a forklift driver gained a ton of weight.
She was denied her lack of accountability definitely played a role in the decision.
Entirely sad story she probably will do it again at work 😮
What I always feel about remorse or if I’d genuine or not , are they sorry because they ended up in prison and have effectively wasted their life or are they sorry for the victims ? This is a classic case of remorse for herself rather than the victims , she only sounds tearful because it’s about her , she probably still to this day doesn’t feel pain or anguish for the people she killed
And she had thanked Bob geldoff for making her famous. SMH
Just stay locked up. It's not like she'll be taking SSI. Didn't work....
cc cav do you know if she’s still in there?
She was eligible for parole in 2019, as much as I'm concerned.
She had a 22 that she used to shoot at birds. So I am sure she aimed to hit with the 22 with a scope. Never should get out. Her remorse is for her self being in prison not the victims.
My 22 dont have a scope its a youth model Rossi 4/10 .22 combo. Even with out a scope you hit what you want to hit with that gun. Almost to easily. She did say the scope was hanging off the gun yes that would cause issue with aiming but as long as you could see the tip of the gun you could aim it fine enough.. My opinion.
@@jessies3236 I also had kids. 5. Oldest is 45, 43, 39,38,37. All were taught before given a gun how to handle them. None have ever shot in person's direction. Never handled a gun when angry.

i dont condone her action and yeah its bad, but i see what shes coming from
True, she was underage but, from what little I know about her case, she was old enough and in her right mind enough to know and fully aware of what s hff e was doing. I for one, dont want a bunch of murderous teenagers/adults on the loose! It is very sad she threw away her young life so she could kill innocent people, she is where she should be!

Her justice? Many kids have been abused by their parents and still became productive citizens. She needs to stay in prison for life. Horrible parents or not, she is a killer with multiple victims.
@@honeybee9161 yes she is guilty. She should pay for her crimes. But what about her father? I dont see him getting punished. I suppose in society nowadays rape, harresment... is so so so common that its not even considered a crime. At least punish her father as well.
@@mariahashmi1453 It's too late now. He's dead. They should have done that years ago. They also should have charged the mother for dumping her with him and taking off. Then let's see we should also charge the people who knew she had mental problems and let her slip through the cracks. When do we finally say she was 16 and knew what she was doing? Give responsibility to the one who did the crime and stop giving excuses for why she did it? Do we have any proof of what happened to her? Not saying it didn't happen. But again I say many kids have been abused by their parents. They didn't choose to kill others. Do we give those abusive parents credit for the way their children turned out? Of course we don't. So interesting. I was tortured by the kids at that school and a teacher, Mrs mize. When I started there in third grade I was 3 years ahead of my class academically but by the end of that year I forgot what letters and numbers were. Paris! Your crazy asf
what does her appearance have to do with anything? "Beautiful" or not, she still opened fire at a school injuring 8 children, 1 adult and also killed 2 adults in the process. She doesn't deserve another chance in life, she said "I hope that they're all doing ok (...) that I haven't scarred them for life". If you had a child and they were shot while they were in school, would you not be scarred for life? would you want this woman to have another shot at making her life a life worth living? living like an adult who didn't traumatize many individuals? doubt it. She clearly does not understand what her actions have done and instead is telling the public what they want to hear in hopes that people as naive as you will say stupid shit like "I'm glad they're giving her another chance in life".
All of us (even you reading this) would be just as bad as her if you had been with enough of the same genes as her and had a similar enough environment to her. @@strangevisions5162 Yeah kind of, although "forced" makes it sound like it wasn't an intentional choice. We can't take credit for being lucky to have a better gene/environment combo than here and she can't really take "ultimate" blame for it either.
