This is the most reasonable take I've seen, she was wrong for trying to throw the contents on them (at least you acknowledged her attempt not shown here). At the same time the officers could have suspected a mental health break and used the distance to retreat, but they may not have been experienced or aware enough (or were trying to assert control on the rapidly escalating situation). I'm curious what the final determination will be but it's a tragedy for all parties involved/effected. This reporting of it is disgusting though not showing the full video/context... De-escalation techniques and recognizing the warning signs of someone having a mental health crisis may have been able to prevent this, for my part I wouldn't call the police and try to burn them... I'm not sure what the outcome will be

no, im sorry, but you need to watch the full body cam video because that is not what happened. she stands back up, grabs the pot and starts to throw it at him when he shoots. hes still in the wrong, and never shouldve escalated it to the point he did by pulling his weapon, but after crouching down, she stands up and grabs the pot with both hands and gets shot while throwing the boiling water towards the officer. again, I am not in any way defending the officer, I think he is in the wrong, but the footage shown here is incomplete and frames it as if he shot her while crouching and apologizing, which is completely untrue.

He added unnecessary tension and walked around the counter, actually appearing to have stepped in front of his partner's gun at one point in the video. If he was afraid that she was gonna scold 🔥 him with boiling hot water - one *less lethal* shot to the leg would probably have dropped her. Instead 3 to the face after threatening he'd do it; and that's after she cowered behind the counter. Fatal. It's the culture and the training that's behind police brutality and killings. I feel bad for citizens and any "good cops", because each time this occurs it's like a lynching. The fear and distress leads to distrust and spreads like a virus. Ironically it hurts those who desperately need help and those authorized to give it. It's why communities won't work with police to go after criminals in their midst - harming them the most. It's an uninterrupted loop. How we speak, facial expressions, gestures, our acts and behavior all matter in our interactions with each other. This is the most reasonable take I've seen, she was wrong for trying to throw the contents on them (at least you acknowledged her attempt not shown here). At the same time the officers could have suspected a mental health break and used the distance to retreat, but they may not have been experienced or aware enough (or were trying to assert control on the rapidly escalating situation). I'm curious what the final determination will be but it's a tragedy for all parties involved/effected.
This reporting of it is disgusting though not showing the full video/context... De-escalation techniques and recognizing the warning signs of someone having a mental health crisis may have been able to prevent this, for my part I wouldn't call the police and try to burn them... I'm not sure what the outcome will be

The department holds some responsibility for what occurred. Allowing folks to remain on the force who clearly shouldn't, places both the public and the officer himself at risk. Now both lives are ruined. It seems it takes someone being killed to remove bad or unstable people from the force.
