So tired of works ng in a hospital. I have 25 years in the hospital and started work 5 years ago in a COLA lab. It is a joke. Nobody takes the patient care seriously. Nobody takes pride in their performance. Nobody looks to prevent problems or predict outcomes. I am looking for something I can be proud to attach my name to.
Thanks for sharing this, this is really inspiring and informational. I’m graduating with my bachelors in Biology this spring and considering a MLS program after, I was worried I’d only be able to work in hospital labs, but this is very eye opening to the many career options! Best wishes on your endeavors
You’re welcome, so glad it helped! ☺️ I also have a degree in biology and was going to do a MLS program afterwards but decided to try my luck finding a job with my degree. Good luck with everything !
Hi, I just recently graduated with my bachelors in Biology and minor in psychology, I have research experience in undergraduate biology education research that was published in the JMBE and Plos one journels. Do you think I can apply for a R&D position with just that ? The only lab experience I had was with bio, Gen chem, orgo, and genetics,
I know the struggle, it’s literally so hard finding a job with a biology degree 😭 I was going to go back for an MLS but decided to just try my luck at applying
@@RisaB or try route 2 to MLS, just get an associates degree in MLT. thats the route im going its cheap/easy compared to a masters and if you have a bachelors you will only need the MLT specific courses which for me is just 2 semesters of classes part time then one semester of internships. After two years of experience if you have your MLT and bachelors in bio you're eligible to get an MLS license.
I have my nursing degree, and plan go back for my BSN. I wanted to finish nursing to have it as a back up, because I want to pursue an MLT career. How long does it take to get an MLT degree? Do you think it is harder than nursing? Is it expensive?
Retraining the mind to be more analytical is pretty much the big difference IMO… and yes all my friends were nursing majors and so I do have a very good idea of what you learn and how they are tested in schools
I am considering for getting my Clinical Lab Scientist CLS (generalist) Cert. Currently I am a Research Associate I. I thought CLS get paid more than RA's. Or does this depend on which part of industry you are in?

How special is this job. Is it considered prestigious?
Can you give an objective summary.
Research sounds amazing.
You can become a research associate after working as a medical lab scientist?!? I’m sooo excited to start this career!!!!!
Hi! Yes I made the transition after about a year and half. There’s many different pathways you can take, in and out of the lab ☺️
@@RisaB can you name a few that's in high demand?

What State are you from?
If you want a quicker route you can probably just test out of the courses or take a MLS certificate short program
@@333pinacolada I’m from Alabama

I think research associates always get paid more because theyre like supervisor positions. Well at least at my hospital/university they are
I need a job laboratory technician or philybotmist
