Those scales look way better than another I saw, I think it was At Home in the Future? His had some heccin CHONKY scales. The knife looks fine, I'm just not so much into Damascus
I only carry fixed blades when I’m in the outdoors myself. Also when doing yard work etc (usually big then). But a lot of times where I camp and Backpack, we are not allowed to have fires, so no batoning or wood chopping, I would carry that size.
I love the look of them knives. Every one I get goes into my collection and not used at all.
To each their own, but to me, carrying that EDC would be like me carrying my camping / survival knife with me edc. (Camping knife is the Becker BK7)

I would do a file check to see if it’s good steel, then see how easy it is to sharpen.

Is there a chance some of the knives are seconds?
That's an interesting question. And frustrating too, because I don't have an answer.
All of our knives are brand new
In the 80's I bought new Ontario cutlery at a parking lot sale that werbrand new but continued seconds due to slight manufacturing defects.
Well, I like the blade and the shape over all, but the handle just doesn't do it for me, personally.
the knife is beautiful but it comes down to preformence
