  • We feel that the passion for motorsport and driving on track should be accessible to as many people as possible, including those that might need hand controls to operate a vehicle. In this instalment of our REVO Edition Golf R build series, we visit our friends at Veigel Automotive to learn more about their ingenious system that allows the, fully reversible, conversion of a car to hand control operation. For this special episode, our RSR Edition BMW M2 also joins, and both cars get fitted with a VEIGEL CLASSIC II system!

Nice, but you hold the Steering wheel with one hand. Is there a version: gas pedal for left hand, brake for right hand?
This way you can hold the Steering wheel with both hands.

Hi! Best is to reach out to the guys at Veigel directly, they have distributors around the world and should be able to help sort something for you: www.veigel-automotive.de/

That looks really awkward as you've only one hand steering and I'd be worried about my feet getting stuck under the foot pedals. I've had my foot move under the break pedal on my road car on many occasions in the past.
That said I'd love to try it out some time.
Thanks for showing as I've mentioned hand controls in the past to brands hatch and they said there was nothing could be done.

Well whenever you are in a race track, regardless if you are a professional race car driver or not and as a wheelchair user, you would be recommended to use velcro straps on your legs to avoid situations like the one you just mentioned above. Driving with one hand on the steering wheel and one on the hand control requires simply practice. There are several professional disabled race car drivers who use this day to day and have no problems or disadvantages towards drivers who don't use one. Like we said, it is all about practice and trying it out.✌🔷

      Velcro is very good suggestion.
I thought about what you said and how the controls work and the throttle being a twist does make total sense as you don't need your thumb to control the smoothness of acceleration like with a pull throttle.
I'm not even an amateur racing driver but would love to do a track day.
Would I need to buy my own controls or would they be available to rent/ hire? Or would you look at notifying circuits of these controls for them to buy?
Do these controls fit any car or are they bespoke to individual cars?
      Thanks for your reply earlier.

We're proud to be able to offer a solution like this and very thankful that Veigel were able to work on this project with us. We have the applicable straps to keep knees, feet and legs held tight.
It's still a learning process for us too, and sometimes we have to take the lead from the driver themselves, and what they're experience with using controls such as these. In saying that, since the cars are road registered, there is also the opportunity to get used to the car and the controls on the road first, before going out on the track.
