@DumaM-ir7rk incorrect , most coloureds are not the biracial black/white mix .
Most coloureds are generational coloured marring coloured , going all the way back to the Cape intermixing . All the Dutch , Asian and African slaves intermixed into the KHOI gene pool . Therefore most are KHOI descendants .

I think you should do ancestral DNA which will give you your correct identity. For example, some 'colored' in Cape Town have roots in Malaysia and other Asian countries. Their correct identity could be Cape Malaysian, instead of colored.

They are not black… I don’t use the term black because it’s derogatory and colonialistic…. People of African origin are Afro peoples whether in Africa the Caribbean or the americas…. The people in South Africa who call themselves coloured are just mixed cultured… why do people hold onto colonial terms… Afro people are not black… everyone has a culture or tribe identity as that not a colour that is derogatory… I find the term black is racist…. Afro people never called themselves black until the Europeans interfered with their life…not everyone wants to be mixed to be honest medically it’s easier to treat someone who is fully one race eg African than someone who is mixed cultured….

The reason why people are addressed as both in the video is because that is how we are seen in post apartheid South Africa. Cape Coloureds are considered black by our government. As a result, Amy Kleinhans was considered the first black Miss South Africa and Trevor Manuel the first black finance minister. This definition is very inconsistent but for now on legal documents we are black in South Africa.

@@teleportasmr9580 I also think that Khois are not originally Africans. I think they came from the Amazon and Islands in the Atlantic Ocean between the American and the African Continent. During their journey to the Western Cape, they passed by Botswana. I think Batswana used to call them Masarwa. Then they were chased out of Botswana and they ran to Namibia. Namibians also chased them away, they ran to Cape province. Some were left in the Nothern Cape and the others went to the Western Cape. On their way to the Western Cape, they came across Zulus who were running away from Shaka. The Zulus took away some of them and went to the Eastern Cape to form what is called Xhosa (a mixture of Zulu and Khoi languages). If you can go to the Eastern Cape, you'll find that most Xhosas look like Khois. When a white man came to SA found some of the Khoi (who were not taken by the Zulus to the Eastern Cape) in Cape Town and thought they were African native but they were not.

They were here long before the Zulus.

The term colored in South Africa was initially used to describe an offspring between a black and white person. Most so-called colored in SA, especially those in the Cape do not have black or white people as their ancestors. Mostly they have roots from Asia, just as people in Madagascar. Therefore, people should do ancestral DNA and use a large percentage to identify themselves. For example, as a Cape Townian, if a large percentage says that you have roots in Malaysia, use Malaysia to Identify yourself. As a Cape Townian you'll call yourself a Cape Malaysian instead of colored.
