What a beautiful performance. Loved this version . Andrea never got the credit and stardom she deserved . It’s so disheartening that talentless people like the Kardashians are world famous for doing nothing while someone like Andrea is so underrated. She’s an amazing performer . 😎😎😎
I met and had a chance to hang out with Andrea in Philadelphia back in 1978 back stage at a telethon. What an amazing performer she has been for many years.
My God she is AMAZING. Please, please Broadway give her the perfect role. She's paid her dues over a lifetime. She is a wondrous gift to the world and she simply has got to win a Tony. Annie alone cements her as an iconic treasure never to be equaled. She is far too talented not to be awarded. If there is a God, this woman will receive her due! Love you Andrea!!! -Tim
I agree with you wholeheartedly. I have adored this woman ever since I saw her in "Rainbow". I often wondered what happened to this little girl who played the great Judy Garland
She is the first Broadway performer I remember...she is close in age to me...I remember her in Annie, and the Mike Douglas Show...love to see her as an adult!
Andrea is about seven months older than me. She does not have to prove herself. She already did. She has always been blessed with a strong and beautiful voice. I hope she is always happy doing what ever she is doing out there. IMO, she was the best Orphan Annie and by far the best one to play Judy Garland.
She sings so effortlessly. I typed in the Song Tomorrow in because I have worked 8 days straight and tomorrow I will be off, so this is the first song that popped in my head.
Andrea has so much talent was great as Annie in musical Annie in 1977 1978 Rainbow where she played the young Judy Garland ! I feel though shes not a good of a singer as Judy was she still has so much talent and charm ! Shes on my Pandora Radio Andrea is !
The original & BEST Annie EVER! Andrea was such a phenomenon when she hit the stage as Annie. Just listen to her original cast recording, and you'll hear that her voice was flawless. Maybe she does get a bit of an attitude when working with others. She's a perfectionist. But, she is so talented, attitude can be overlooked! She's payed her dues & done her time. Find her a show, and let her do what she does best...SHINE! Like the top of the Chrysler Building!
My one claim to fame is that Andrea McArdle was (briefly) my classmate in 9th grade at Cardinal Daugherty High School in Philly, PA. Back then my last name started with an O, and hers was an M so in each class she usually sat in the next row to mine. And she sat across from me at lunchtime. We weren't friends but friendly, and she seemed like a very nice person. Sadly, she transferred to another school and my best friend told me she had been teased/bullied by some obviously jealous classmates. I never saw it myself though. Anyway, I admired her then and still do. I'm still a big fan! Her voice has gotten even more beautiful over the years. I'm proud that she was a classmate of mine, the first, the original, Broadway Annie! 🙂
What a beautyful voice, and a beautyful song. Andrea McCardle is a very gifted and talented singer, and as I am from Denmark, we dont hear much about teatre actresses in U.S.A., so I have only seen Andrea in the 1978 movie "The Rainbow", where she did a great impression, with here great voice and naturel performence. It is a joy to listen to such a wonderful singer, thanks a lot for posting this.
I too was an "Annie" geek. And I actually get goosebumps listening to her amazing voice!! I hope she knows people think that of her. So cool to have heard her live, wow!
Kristin Rose Yes! I saw Jerry!s Girls in the late 80's in San Francisco. I now live in the same city (Modesto) as Carol Channing! I've never seen her tho. Seeing Andrea was a childhood dream come true! I learned I could sing at age 7 because u got the Annie Album, doll, book, nightgown, etc Xmas of '77ish. I was hooked!
I was lucky enough to see her Broadway Fantine She was wonderful! The character dies early in the show and in the battle scene towards the end, they dressed Andrea as a French soldier and put her upstage where she wouldn’t stand out, but I spotted her. I don’t think many “names” double in ensemble.
That reminds me of noticing Aileen Quinn's name in the ensemble of a national tour of Peter Pan. Absolutely love and applaud the work ethic, but hope it's not wrong to wish for more for our Annie queens.
Andrea was probably happy to be in the battle scene since Fantine dies so early in the show. Better then waiting 2+ hours for curtain call 8 times a week. As for Aileen; I understand your point Hayley, but it’s such a tough business that it’s better to be working than sitting home waiting for phone to ring.
Knowing how she gets bored and restless easily by her own description she was probably happy to join the chorus as a soldier. She tells the story of accidentally leaving a small bag of M&Ms or Skittles in the costume pocket and when the soldier had to die the bag fell out of her pocket sending M&Ms across the stage. Not her proudest moment. I don’t think it was the night Entertainment Tonight was at the theater doing a piece on her appearance in the show, thankfully.
perfect song for her... and her voice is such GREAT shape... and mature... sooo well trained!!!! and no signs of wear and tear from all those years of BIG belting as a child... MAGNIFICENT... (who ever her vocal teacher is OR coach... hope she NEVER let's 'em GO! )
Hope I don't sound silly but oh how much I relate to this! Had a summer like that, met the tigers too. He slept a summer by my side. He filled my days with endless wonder. But he was gone when Autumn came.
Did he leave you with a baby you couldn’t afford to raise so you had to let her be raised by a shady, criminal-minded innkeeper couple while you worked a factory job to send money to them for her expenses?
So, @East, not sure how to interpret your question. Are you mocking me for claiming a misery kinship with poor Fantine? No babies came from my relationship but maybe it would have been a comfort to have had one from him
Awe, it's so good to see you grown up! I remember when you played Annie. You are beautiful and your voice is just as smooth as well. I could listen to you sing all the day long.. I'm so glad I came upon this post... Blessings to you today and everyday.
October, 2018 I believe the first time I heard her since she was ANNIE....I was enchanted then !! That voice is still amazing, and her stage presence, still there .
Patti LuPone was the original Fantine in London in 1985, two years before Randy Graff played her on Broadway. She won the Olivier Award for Best Actress for it!
What a voice - from childhood til present.Amazing. Such a beautiful performer because her heart shows through and her voice is so WARM. And is it me??? Or am I the only one who thinks she could have played Ann Margaret in her life story? The resemblance is uncanny! Wow. Peace. MER
Mary Rutkowski I agree, she really does resemble Ann Margaret, but her voice is so much better. I would love to see her in concert or in a Broadway musical like Oliver.
Her version is the second most 'magical" version of this song, which says everything, given Patti LuPone, Betty Buckley, Eliane Paige, and Susan Boyle has done it their way. Susan has, by far, the most magical version of this song. There is something very special about her Britian's got Talent version from 2009.
I don't recall Betty Buckley singing I dreamed a dream. Laurie Beechman sang it. She performed also in Cats on Broadway after Betty Buckley. Betty made Memory famous.
I love her. She's my buddy-ish. Lol. We met after her show in Media, PA and had a few big laughs at the local dive bar with her daughter and some cast. It was unforgettable. So gracious. So kind. And FUNNY!!! I butt-dialed her since by mistake and it was actually her real number! How cool. #TryingNotToStalkALegend. Lol
Andrea McArdle the most underrated, neglected and unforgivably underrated Broadway performer ever. A brilliant performer who always astonishes.
She IS Broadway. The icon of icons.
I couldn't agree more!
Bravo!
That cute kid grew into a beautiful woman, and that whole time she had THAT voice, my goodness the talent. She should have been so much more famous.
Every word that comes out of her mouth is crisp and clear, she truly was the best Annie and the most amazing talent on Broadway of all time!
My wife and I were at the Ct the very night she took over the role of Annie.
We can’t get over the impression she made.
What a beautiful performance. Loved this version . Andrea never got the credit and stardom she deserved . It’s so disheartening that talentless people like the Kardashians are world famous for doing nothing while someone like Andrea is so underrated. She’s an amazing performer . 😎😎😎
Kardashians are world famous among the trash like them.
Still one of the most STUNNING voices that I have ever heard! Beautifully done, Andrea!
Put Andrea McArdle with Linda Eder on the same stage and you'll have the greatest voices of Broadway.
Imagine your voice remaining virtually unchanged since you were 10. She has such a unique, beautiful voice
I think McCardle is one of the most underrated talents on Broadway! An incredible voice! People should be queuing up to write shows for her!
There's quite a youthful and sharp quality to her voice, you can hear it when she was little and she still has it now. Incredible voice!
Effortless....
It hasn't changed. She's just gotten a bit older.
An incredible singer! Her voice has grown and matured. She has moved past "Annie" voice, which was amazing, but now she is so much more musical.
Greatest Annie ever hands down. Beautiful lady beautiful voice.
Andrea is so talented I believe my love for Broadway and musical theater goes directly back to watching her play Annie!
I met and had a chance to hang out with Andrea in Philadelphia back in 1978 back stage at a telethon. What an amazing performer she has been for many years.
She was the original Annie on Broadway and it was so thrilling to see her at a younger age.
What a voice amazing brings a chill down my spine
My God she is AMAZING. Please, please Broadway give her the perfect role. She's paid her dues over a lifetime. She is a wondrous gift to the world and she simply has got to win a Tony. Annie alone cements her as an iconic treasure never to be equaled. She is far too talented not to be awarded. If there is a God, this woman will receive her due! Love you Andrea!!! -Tim
That was so brilliantly said... Thank you Timothy
I agree with you wholeheartedly. I have adored this woman ever since I saw her in "Rainbow". I often wondered what happened to this little girl who played the great Judy Garland
She has already played Fantine and Eponine, on Broadway and on tour:-).
Wow. Andrea grew up really pretty. And didn't lose one iota of her beautiful voice. I'd love to see her on Broadway again.
For the record, I thought she was pretty back then. ;) I had such a crush on her as a kid.
thats a tough song to sing. She still (if she ever lost them) has the chops. Awesome rendtion.
This just popped up... WOW! Brava! Quite possibly the most beautiful version I have ever heard! How does this not have millions of views?
She is the first Broadway performer I remember...she is close in age to me...I remember her in Annie, and the Mike Douglas Show...love to see her as an adult!
My first exposure to Andrea was when she was on a soap opera in the early 70s.
I was fascinated by her as Annie as a child. My first trip to Les Mis was when she played Fantine.
I have loved this girl since I was a young boy. I’m now 57 and she still sounds amazing ❤️🌹🌹
Andrea is about seven months older than me. She does not have to prove herself. She already did. She has always been blessed with a strong and beautiful voice. I hope she is always happy doing what ever she is doing out there. IMO, she was the best Orphan Annie and by far the best one to play Judy Garland.
She's just amazing. Hanging with her in Media, PA after one of her shows here was unforgettable. What a gracious, kind, lady. I'll never forget it.
She sings so effortlessly. I typed in the Song Tomorrow in because I have worked 8 days straight and tomorrow I will be off, so this is the first song that popped in my head.
She is incredible!! Rare and just beyond talented!!! I could listen to her sing the phone book!!! Best Annie ever too.
This might be my favorite version of this song. What a talent she is.
Andrea has so much talent was great as Annie in musical Annie in 1977 1978 Rainbow where she played the young Judy Garland ! I feel though shes not a good of a singer as Judy was she still has so much talent and charm ! Shes on my Pandora Radio Andrea is !
Splendid. She still has that sweet, little girl vocal quality of Annie in 1977.
So amazing. Her voice is broadway for this.
The original & BEST Annie EVER! Andrea was such a phenomenon when she hit the stage as Annie. Just listen to her original cast recording, and you'll hear that her voice was flawless.

She has a beautiful voice and I think she sings with lots of feeling. Lovely. She looks a bit like Ann Margret in this video.
What a beautyful voice, and a beautyful song. Andrea McArdle's voice is **perfection** [dying]
Ann Margaret is sitting at home thinking"Damn, I'm fantastic"!
She went to my school and I could not be more proud.
One of the last great singers before the cookie-cutter Broadway voice. Andrea is amazing!
I was such an "Annie" geek in 1977!! And I was so lucky to see Andrea McArdle perform on Broadway with Carol Channing!! I love her voice!!!!
I too was an "Annie" geek. And I actually get goosebumps listening to her amazing voice!! I hope she knows people think that of her. So cool to have heard her live, wow!
Melissa Scott Was it not Carol Burnette?
Same here! Jerry's Girls in Denver. I was 17, and it was by far the best night of my life.
Matthew McLaughlin nope...Carol Channing 💯
Kristin Rose Yes! I saw Jerry!s Girls in the late 80's in San Francisco. I now live in the same city (Modesto) as Carol Channing! I've never seen her tho. Slayed it! One of the best.
Still amazing. I have watched you for years, your voice still astounds me.....phenomenal
She has such a powerful, incredible voice. How have I not seen more of her?
What a beautiful rendition of a passionate song from “Les Miserables”. 🥰👍
She is absolutely phenomenal!!!
I saw her on broadway and it is to this day one of my most cherished memories - she was then and she is now, a simply stunning performer.
What did you see her in?
I was lucky enough to see her Broadway Fantine She was wonderful! The character dies early in the show and in the battle scene towards the end, they dressed Andrea as a French soldier and put her upstage where she wouldn’t stand out, but I spotted her. I don’t think many “names” double in ensemble.

@@phineasbeloved It wasn’t meant to mock you. Just making a joke about the plot of the show.

Of ALL the different Annie's Andrea is the best Annie and she deserves the credit and the hard work in to playing Annie! Very talented!!!! BRAVO!!!!
Wow....she does a great job on this song. Unique voice. Well done, Andrea.
October, 2018

Probably my favorite Broadway performer. Such a professional and such a powerful and beautiful voice.

She's brilliant!
Andrea and Patti Lupone have the most recognizable and unique voices.
Awesome job. Love her!
That voice!!!
How has she not been cast as Fantine in Les Misérables yet, this was beautiful 😁❤️
She was Fantine in 1993. Saw her.
Perfect rendition. Fabulous
Talk about talent
EPIC vocalist.
I remember her in Annie, the musical, as eleven-old-girl, amazing..
Very very talented
I once also Dreamed-a-Dream.
Her name was (and is) Andrea McArdle.
Is she the bomb or is Andrea the Bomb?
...
I love her. She's my buddy-ish. Lol. We met after her show in Media, PA and had a few big laughs at the local dive bar with her daughter and some cast. It was unforgettable. So gracious. So kind.
