i have a JLC marine date with the blue dial that i have purchased a few years back as i needed a dive watch that was missing in my collection. i added the blue rubber strap as well to it. never use the steel bracelet as the rubber is so comfortable. great watch in my collection.
They suffered very badly after raising prices by 40 %leading many watch lovers to give up on the brand. They are yet to recover from that.Richemont group tried to exploit the watch lovers love for jlc ,with the result jlc sales are falling year on year.Better selling brands like omega, Rolex, cartier never increased their price by 40% at one go.A great Maison is suffering because of some backroom boys at richemont group. This group has destroyed Panerai by lying about manufature movements, they destroyed baume and mercier, God knows why they take watch lovers for granted. I know they own Vacheron and A Lange but that doesn't condone.
I tried on that exact gray, sunburst dial at the AD a few months back and was blown away! Been saving up for it ever since, hopefully only a few more months away. 🤞
the fume grey polaris date and the chronograph are my two favorite sport JLCs. My heart was always in the JLC Ultra Thin Moonphase, but the new grey and green polaris are just so hott.
I love JLC. Such originality in their designs. Would love to pick up one of these models. I LOVE the dial design on the Date model. But at 42mm, might look a little too big for me. I prefer the 'Automatic' version which is 41mm and has a leather strap. But not the dial design. Great review!
May be a minor gripe but the thing that took this off my list is the bezel doesn’t ratchet, which means you will often find the bezel is not set to where you left it. Plus the memovox is really the way to go here and it doesn’t appear to have stuck around in the catalogue.
The trouble with the Polaris, for me at least, is JLC have pushed the prices so high it now sits alongside watches like the VC FiftySix, and I’m not sure I’d chose it over one of those
I’d love to buy the gold Polaris perpetual date someday - tried it on at the local JLC boutique. But the price is nuts. I’ll wait to see it on the grey market in a few years and buy it at at a 50-60% discount
I’ve wanted the boutique vs of this watch since it came out. It’s beautiful. The only issue is they doesn’t offer bracelet and it’s pretty thick looking on my wrist
Had the Polaris date on my wrist today. Really great watch and if I wouldn’t remember the price only a few years ago, I might have bought it. But the current prices are just too high.
Currently own 2 Oris, an Aquis and an Artix and I’m currently looking for the right Breguet Classique (pre owed) as a grail watch. However if I was only allowed to own one do it all watch, this JLC Polaris would be it.
I do like JLC and one of my really want but cannot afford or justify watches would be the Polaris Memovox, I'm not sure if it's still part of the current range but I can dream.
The basic no date 41mm Polaris is £8750 on a strap and £9550 on a bracelet. That’s still about £1K more than it should be and it doesn’t have the fabulous dial that’s on the date version. If it was 39mm I’d start saving now and if the lug-lug was less than 46mm, I’d buy it now!
Love, love the JLC Polaris date. Well, except for the design of the minute hand and the date (hate that). Oh, and the $11,000 (yea, an issue). So I bought a "homage" that some of you might call a copy. I got a blue Helm Miyako no date. It has a sapphire bezel instead of the internal one. Better minute hand and no date. Really well made. Good news $425. Bad news - it's not a JLC and it took over a year for them to ship it to me.
For me, it's either the polaris date in blue or the blancpain all black ceramic bathyscaphe. Tbh the bp is edging it. This looks a bit gimmicky next to it. Looks like I've even answered my own question as to what my next watch is going to be 😂
I am so glad to see somebody acknwledge the craftsmanship of horolgy here and appreciate this piece for what it is and the accolades it deserves. So well done. I love it myself although no t a big fan of the skeleton hand which take away its legibility. Otherwise beautiful. It won't stop the sheep running for the bright light of Rolex, but seriously who cares anymore. Let them run.
JLC is one of those brands at the edge - I want, but it's always been a "but I'm not sure." The Polaris looks amazing, and given my own ADHD, I love that it could also be the perfect fidget watch. 😄 JLC normally requires wearing the Reverso, and that is the challenge in general for JLC. So... time for shop for that "what is that watch?" watch.
I owned the Polaris Memovox for around 2 years but tastes change and sold it along with all my other JLCs. Im just not that "classy" guy no matter how much I pretend to be, and thats how I felt whenever I wore my JLCs - just felt so pretentious.
custom fit rubber straps aren't classic- just try to buy a custom rubber strap from a GP from 15 years ago (not available). So only classic if it's on a metal bracelet or leather.
Polaris 3 handers have grown unnecessary large and fat, thus loosing all the elegance of previous iterations. Not too talk about the prices, JLC vanished from my would-buy list ….
@@impexRQ Except you though right 😉 What niche handmade watch do you own then? Omega are mass produced, machine made, and more prevalent IME, yet not a bad word is said of them 🙄
JLC was always my favorite luxury brand. But their unreal price increases have boxed me out a bit. Looking pre-owned instead.
I love my JLC Memovox Tribute to Polaris 1968. The fact that it rings is kind of magic. I see JLC as discreetly classic and simply beautiful.

Simple but elegant
Those are some really cool watches! Thanks for sharing them with us-it’s always great to see such unique designs!
Love me some JLC
Reverso drew me in, but now I'm learning about the others in the lineup. I pretty much like everything that this brand does. Thanks

JLC look so classy in person, I'm so happy you covered this watch!!

Pretty sure the top crown screws down, locking your bezel in place.
No, it doesn't... the dive version has that only... it is called a rendezvous setter
Please consider doing videos on the JLC Polaris perpetual, calendar and the geographic. JLC, as a brand has really gotten my attention.
The lack of 3 ruins it.
This is nice. I like the GO SeaQ too
Seaq 39.5 is my grail diver

Been looking at this watch for years...i purchased the previous gen chrono in blue, double up on the polaris? Maybe...
Love JLC ,I’m thinking of the green dial ,thanks 🙏❤️🏴
A great looking watch the chrono is also stunning need a chrono in my collection

Bought the green Polaris date from the boutique, absolutely stunning in person and overtook my Rolex Sprite for a daily wearer lately

I love my polaris date (and my reverso) .. great vid, mate
Great video, but I think their master moon phase or the perpetual calendar (the Dr. Strange watch) is where it’s at. 😊👍
Luminous it look so realistic light
The watch makers watch ,thanks 🙏❤️🏴

I think the internal bezel is great for us ADHDrs hahaha!
The skeletonized handset reduces visability
I love JLC watches. The non shouty watch brand.
The ridiculous price increase doesn’t do it for me. The Polaris date should be a relative bargain to the Rolex Submariner but it’s not at those prices
I owned the Polaris Memovox for around 2 years but tastes change and sold it along with all my other JLCs. Im just not that "classy" guy no matter how much I pretend to be, and thats how I felt whenever I wore my JLCs - just felt so pretentious.
Looks beautiful but price point is way off
5000 in secondary...
I prefer my Blancpain Fifty Fathoms. Good video! Cheers
Can always get both
agree that these watches are classy AF but I totally disagree that rarity = classy. Not sure why that would be a criterion at all

How do you get to the statement of Rolex being the best brand in the world?
Sales and impact.
JLC are the watchmaker’s watchmaker, unfortunately they suffer, like many other brands, from being part of Richmont…

I would love one, but just a tad out of my price range.
