Great methods! The very 1st method I used was with a nostepinne and it was very satisfying to do! But now I love the winder with umbrella that I invested in after I was sure I was going to continue knitting.
My Dad always wound the balls of yarn for my Mom with her holding the skein. It was what I knew when I started knitting on my own. I now own a swift and ball winder. Easier/quicker for sure, but I still resort to hand winding when I am out and about where I don't have them with me.
Great tutorial. Thank you !

Such great videos, Elizabeth - so helpful. And could you please tell us about those great scissors? 🙂
Thank you so much!! And those scissors are Fiskar thread snips - it came in a scissor set from Joanns but I think you get it separately too. 😁

You forget the easiest way, put the skein on your own wrists, its easy. I held wool for my Mum many years ago, now I do it for myself.
thank you!
