I am totally new to Betaflight. I fly fixed wing and have only dabbled with quad copters. I decided to buy a HGLRC Petrel 65 in order to learn FPV because it is aimed at total beginners. Then I found out I needed to know about Betaflight. My brain crashed when I tried to understand some of the videos on the subject and they were supposed to be beginner videos. Nearly all of the other beginner videos I watched seem to assume a new pilot would know all about the general terms, names, and functions on Betaflight. Absolutely confusing. This video is the first video to properly explain the functions in Betaflight. You explain the simple things which are "NOT" simple to a beginner and you make them easy to understand. I thank you very much for this perfect explanation and teaching video. I can understand all you say here about Betaflight and how it works. I know I have a lot more to learn but this video is perfect for a beginner. You take your time and you don't rush your expiations on the subject. Well done and I am certainly a SU--B to this channel from now on. Perfect video buddy. One thing I found out and is probably more common than some people may think is the use of the wrong USB lead when connecting your quad to Betaflight. I could not get connected and that was after using two USB leads. Then I discovered I was not using a USB data lead. I was using a USB charging lead "which on the surface looks identical to any other USB lead". I am saying this because it caused me a "BIG HEADACHE". I was trying to download drivers and assumed that was the problem but I was Soooo "WRONG". Anyone who can't get their quad to connect to Betaflight should firstly make sure they are using a USB "Data Lead". It is a simple mistake to make but can confuse you a lot. Sometimes we go on assumptions because both leads look the same. Hope this simple piece of information helps and once again your teaching video here is absolutely brilliant and has saved me a lot of searching for proper information. 😍👍👍👍
I know this is an older video but you saved a quads life today! I am new to this hobby and despite thinking I knew enough I did NOT know enough. Your video was incredibly informative and easy to follow resulting in my quad finally being flight ready after 3 weeks of fighting me! Thanks!
What a great teaching gift you have. It's oblivious you are sooo very knowledgable. Many people take this knowledge and keep it for themselves and are totally not interested in helping anybody but numero uno. I appreciate all those who are willing to reach out and show the way to becoming rocket scientist's like themselves, well almost. I have told more than a few people that I am in way over my head with all this. What I love most is when you say, "Hey I just want to get you up there flying for now, we can come back to all the technical stuff later. Learn how to fly a little bit first". Thank you for your time my friend, you got good things comin your way.
I have just bought my first fpv quad components, and this is the perfect video. Thank you my guy 👌🏼. And like that guy said, this IS one of the most underrated channels, you are very knowledgeable on this topic and very thorough 👍
can do a video on how to set up beta flight for the (Beginner Guide // How To Build FPV Drone 2019), i have the same fc and i followed the same thing you did in that video. In that video at 11:05 can you show how to set that up in beta flight for that situation.
everything make sense now omg thank you sooo much im glad that im subscribed to your channel ... best tutorial video ever.. thank you for explaining every step by step.. i seen sooo many videos before and they all tell you how to connect it but they dont spend time explain what it those . like for example UR1 UR 2 and im like wat ??? im completely new to this hobby and man best video ever ...THANK YOU SOOO MUCH FOR YOUR TIME .
You're the most precise and patient in making a detailed video and explaining about how to set it up..Thanks a lot for making this one .I just subscribed to you
very good bro u helpd me alot, U R KING OF DRONES, an u share ur personal xp, which is most heplful. that makes u different from "show off drone builders". KING IS ALWAYS A KING.
Thanks so much for this video. I am using having issues with arming the quad. Using an F3 flight controller all in one stack. I was able to connect and bind my Flysky FS A8S receiver and a Flysky Fs i6S transmitter. When I tried to go to the modes menu I wasn't able to get anywhere and not sure which Aux to select. I tried all evening but haven't been able to arm. I checked the angle and it's at 25degrees as you pointed out haven't touched it. I then got Arm Disabled after saving the changes and not sure what that it as none of the Aux seem to be working. Sorry still pretty new to all this and I am currently a bit overwhelmed. soldering and stuff and the motors do fire up and are turning in the right direction but I haven't been able to arm them or figure out how to using the transmitter. The receiver is bound.
Great detailed video sir.set up every thing as per video. facing a issue , with props off , when i throttle up the motors spins , but they do not slow down on throttle decreasing. have to disarm the quad. Its doing on bench test, afraid to take it out with props on, without sorting this issue. any help is much appreciated.
Hello drone mesh I appreciate it this tutorial thank you 👍🏻👍🏻 but you said at the beginning of this tutorial I need to have my video transmitter antenna installed but I doing my quad without video transmitter?? I don’t have this antenna do I need to buy one in order not to fried my system??? Please let me know thank you....
Great video! Your content is great and the production values are awesome. The simultaneous software view and your video showing yourself and the quad is perfect. You just dropped a ton of knowledge on me with this video and your build video. I'm about to start assembly on my first FPV drone; all the components arrived last night. I'm confident that your 30 minute video here is going to save me days off of my first build, and hours of frustration. I'm glad I found your channel this morning! Subscribed and thumbs up!
Awesome video and great detail 👍 keep up with the awesome job. How is the camera drone you promised. Please consider doing a long-range quad build. Rock on dude 💪👊 😎.
Great Video!!! I will be building my first 5in tomorrow and it uses the T-Motor F7 45A Blheli 32 stack. The stack you used was the other one I was looking at. I have been schooling myself up on it and Blheli 32. This video gave me a few pieces of info I was missing. I am still in noob status. So, this will be a learning experience either way. I look forward to the next one.
Also if your COM ports arent showing up after plug in, make sure your USB cable is a data cable. I was using a charging only one and I realized that too late lol. Just try swapping cables to save yourself some headache
Awesome video, just what a newbie needs like me. Detailed explanations on betaflight settings. Planning to buy my first fpv bnf quadcopters. Thank you so much for this tutorial. Keep it up, loyal follower here my friend. Greetings and love from the Philippines 😊
why do you need to desolder wires to make the engines spin the right way? can't the esc be programmed to do that? like, click a box if it's going the wrong way, and it'll switch the way it energises to go the other way? :O
Good am Drone Mesh,i'm just wondering if you could help me out or just make a quick video about 'How to fix a quadcopter that Arms But the throttle won't move at all in Betaflight' (under receiver graphs and aux section)..Any reply is highly appreciated
My accelerometer is turned on but I don't have any movement from my quad in betaflight. I'm using the iFlight SucceX Mini F4 TwinG V3 FC & 35A 4in1 ESC & 25-500mW VTX 20x20 Stack.
Thanks for the video. Still valid and clear info how to setup drone. Was my 1st own build and this video did help a lot. Maiden flight has been done already... thanks...
Hi, I've followed your video for my drone setup. It's been really helpful. But while doing the receiver setup on betafligt, I've noticed that my aux 12 is randomly changing value. I dont know what's causing this as I'm not touching my controller (frSKY Qx7). If i have nothing setup to aux 12, is that an issue that would affect my flight ?
I have an Iflight baby nazgul 73mm drone and when i arm the quad only 3 motors fire up but when i increase throttle the 4th model arms. sometimes it arms and sometimes it doesn't. What do you think is causing this?
in the video you didn't give thortl to the maximum, if I give thortl to the maximum, then this button has no reaction of any kind the drone flies ... how do I lower it back ...? so .. you push thortl until half is ok .. it reacts back but if I pushed until over half ... ready it hurts and thortl doesn't react anymore ... how do I lower it?
I have a 2020 apple MacBook pro. It keeps saying the Betaflight not able to open cause the it doesn't recognize the software after I drag the folder to the app folder. it will open and then trying to connect with cord it connects then disconnects after few seconds.
hey buddy i had a question for you. using succex f7 stack and for the life of me i cant get betaflight to recognize my bn220 gps. ive tried every different uart and baud. ive tired 3 different working bn220 gps. i use them consistently on all my matek flight controllers in arduplane. they even power on and acquire lock. but cant get betaflight to even recognize it at all. im a plane guy coming over from ardupilot. i have many different flight controllers just new to betaflight. any help would be greatly appreciated
Fantastic video, Sam! Pretty nice job! 😃 Man... I'm going crazy here trying to edit videos. I'm trying since last week, but Vegas wouldn't understand the audio and I couldn't find a format to convert the files to... 🙄 Today I installed DaVinci Resolve. If you ever have those kinds of problems, try it. It's amazing!
how do i bind my quad if my button is broken. i have a frsky r-xsr receiver thanks for any help. i heard of using the cli commands but no idea on how to do that.
In the cli shell type bind_rx , after that go to your frsky controller and go to setup, set the internal rc to accest d16 or d8 protocol and channel number 0 - 8 and the rx num should be 00. Click on the bnd and set telementary ON. And type save in the cli shell after this. Worked for me.
the engine grows louder ..and spins faster ..how do I bring it back to the ground? it is too strong, I accelerate but it does not come back, whei not ?
Im having trouble doing the arm mode, I select auto and then switch the button on my radio that i want to be its arm. However it isn't working, am I missing something.

Yo brother those drivers don’t always work. I have 2 FCs that will not fully connect. I keep getting successfully opened serial port with I’d 4??what is that. One of the FC s has a type C usb brand new outta the box and for the life of me it will not do shit. You can see it in the device manager and Zadig but it will not connect. It’s not bricked? The other is a mamba f7 does the same as the other. No can explain I’ve never seen it and I’ve been doing this for a minute now.
I can connect and configure but when I go to bootloader mode, the pc detects my board and it is in DFU mode, I select a firmware and when I click flash It does nothing. It says usb port closed successfully and does absolutely nothing. I tryed reinstalling all the drivers and just so you know, I was able to flash multiple times before
Hi,is anyone else know how to flash the flight controller firmware in Betaflight confirgurator???? If someone who else know about this please reply to this question as soon as possible.
Here are the stupid USB drivers you need: www.st.com/en/development-tools/stsw-stm32102.html Note when installing the driver you have to type something in the "Company Name" field under Username field or it won't let you Next through the install. Installing the driver solved it for me. This video gets my thumbs up because other Betaflight tutorials just blazed right past this whole step and looking for the rogue com port after clicking Connect twice. When you make a tutorial video, you start from the very beginning.. and none of them did but Drone Mesh. Bardwell failed on this. Drone Camps failed. And half a dozen others. They didn't start from scratch, they started from an install they've been using for years. So Drone Mesh for the win... for remembering this step. I didn't even see it on the Betaflight home page and there are no instructions there you need to install it... and it wasn't installed during the install so... FYI, Put links to everything in your description, because if you say click right here to get this file, nobody can see where you are whizzing the mouse around or what you are talking about... and can't see what URL you might type.
im all the way from Kauai, Hawaii and am totally new to fpv and built me my first drone. ordered me some gear. now im running in to no stick movements in beta flight... using a crsf nano diversity to a 60a hobbywing stack with the tbs evo. sent ch1 from nano diversity to rx1 and ch2 to tx1. got everything to bind, visuals through my goggles and the rx is solid green just like the module behind my qx7. serial rx is checked on uart1, saved and rebooted. configuration receiver set for CRSF, plug in my batt and got nothing. got any idea where I went wrong ?
Hey Drone Mesh thanks a lot brother for the video. I do appreciate this. I just described👍 if you get a chance could you go watch my eachine video with my new taranis qx7 please and maybe give me some tips on what I need to do to fix this. Again thank you so much have a peaceful day.

this is the video I was looking for thank you very much!!!
SUPER HELPFUL
Amazing video. Thanks for the great content.
it's really super awesome
Thank you so much mann
Don’t always need to take props off, plug into Betaflight and you won’t be able to arm quad.Betaflight won’t let quad arm.
I like my fingers as I play guitar ,so It may not let the quad arm...but I ain't taking no chances...lol
Man,i love u sooo much..
wow nice helpful vid!
Thanks Man
thank you very much 👍👍🙏🙏🍺👍❤️
Do not desolder any motor !!!!! Just change from settings the spinning direction. (cannot be found in betaflight) easy
Disagree with arming angle. Climb a tree once.lol and that's dangerous at my age! Great video! Thanks!

im all the way from Kauai, Hawaii and am totally new to fpv and built me my first drone. ordered me some gear. now im running in to no stick movements in beta flight... using a crsf nano diversity to a 60a hobbywing stack with the tbs evo. sent ch1 from nano diversity to rx1 and ch2 to tx1. got everything to bind, visuals through my goggles and the rx is solid green just like the module behind my qx7. serial rx is checked on uart1, saved and rebooted. configuration receiver set for CRSF, plug in my batt and got nothing. got any idea where I went wrong ?
