Thanks! My Ender 5 plus is sitting in the box as it was delivered 3 days ago... watching this makes me feel better about unboxing as it's m first 3D printer.... Thanks for the walk thru.
I used this video for about 90% of assembly and the instruction manual about 10%. This is my first 3D printer. I am writing this the day after assembly. It took me about 4 hours from building to starting my first print which was a perfect print btw. My Ender 5 plus mini SD did come with 3 designs. I picked a design from Thingiverse and used the Creality slicer included on the mini SD. I used your heat settings and it worked great. The only issue I had was leveling the bed using "check level". Messed around with this for about 45min. I aborted that and used "AUX Level" This took about 30 minutes following your instructions and my first prints are working awesome! My only silly issue during assembly was during assembly with the cables. I only had the connectors labled "E" left over, It took me a minute to realize they plugged in to the Extruder lol, which isn't in the written instructions. Rookie mistake lol. I love this printer so far and it works great without any upgrades except I used inland PLA filament. I will do your upgrade suggestions soon. Great job on this video and your suggestions. Thank you much!
I figured out what a tap & die is thanks to the assembly experience I had with my Creality 5 Plus, lol. Support columns weren't threaded. Thanks for this video!
This was super helpful! The 5 plus is my second printer but I'm still new to 3D printing and you were great about explaining clearly without over explaining or becoming dry and boring! I'm excited to see the rest of this series!!
I have never touched a 3D printer before today. I am a laser file designer/teacher and sign maker so this is totally new to me, but because I am an all around crafter and a few of my friends have 3D printers, I had to get one to try out. Plus I like the idea of printing my own laser pins and some parts. This video was truly fantastic. Great job on this!!!
Fun revisiting this video while stumbling through videos to send someone i just gave a 5+ to. Always crazy to see how far youve come my man, I'm proud of ya
I assembled my Ender 5 Plus yesterday and these are a couple tips for the issues I ran into so far: While you have the top off of the printer, push the X gantry all the way toward the back and ensure that the Y limit switch is actually engaging. It should click. Mine was out of adjustment and the wheels would hit before the switch could engage. I was able to fix it by removing the Y limit switch and reattaching it by putting the screw through the elongated hole at the end farthest from the switch. If that's not enough, you could probably make the hole even longer. I didn't run into this issue until the printer was fully assembled. It may be easier to fix before the top is attached. You may want to have an M4 0.7 pitch tap handy. Some of the holes used to mount the bed to the Z-axis were difficult to get started. I think they were probably filled in some during finishing or something. Using a counter sink or a big enough drill bit could possibly clean the hole opening. One screw wouldn't go in all the way so I'm waiting on my taps. I didn't have any handy. I hope this helps another 3d printer noob like me.
I've got my Ender 5 Plus being delivered on Saturday, and I can hardly wait! This video is exactly what I needed to see before I take delivery. I'll definitely be referring to it as I assemble!
I picked up an 'open box'/returned Ender 5 Plus, and it didn't come with the instruction guide. I watched two other assembly videos before this, and yours was the one that was the most helpful. Specifically, thank you for calling out which screw goes where! My printer was missing about a dozen screws between the M5s, and it was helpful to know how many I needed. Also, you have a great conversational tone. I would say that you achieved your goal of making me feel like we were hanging out, working on this. Excellent video!
@@FranklyBuilt For sure. And you succeeded. Once I get replacements for a couple of the parts that were missing, I'll be checking out the rest of your Ender 5+ series.
Hey brother. Thank you so much for your work on this video! I found this video and saved it a few weeks ago. We've had a Flashforge Creator Pro for over 5 years now, but we grew tired of having to print small pieces and glue them together. Especially when it comes to cosplay prints and other items. We want to print most things in one shot (like the Mando helmet I had to print in 6 pieces on the Creator Pro). So, we ordered an Ender 5 Plus, and it came this week. Today, I started building it right along with your video. It was great to have somebody with experience taking me through this build. I took all of your advice to heart and implemented every small help and detail. Our Ender 5 Plus is printing it's first test print as I type this message. It looks awesome!!! You have a new fan, I've subscribed, and will be watching your other videos too. Thank you for this video. What a great help!
Thank you for making this! I know this is an older video, but I just got my 5 + and have no idea what I'm doing. I like that you explained tightening the print head. Mine was flopping like crazy, and I didn't know how to fix it. Love your creations! They look amazing! Just wanted to let you know your video is still helping people out.
Just built mine, so poorly made, the holes at the top for the brackets are way too small for the m5 bolts, instructions say to set voltage to 115 but there's not switch with the new PSUs, I verified by removing bolts from rusted out holes, that's right brand new, and there was rust. Waiting for creality support to tell me to do my own drilling of the holes instead of bothering to send replacement beams or tell me to return it to the vendor who won't take back open boxes.
Thanks for saying that I needed to activate auto levelling to actually use bl touch measurements. It was struggling with the center of my bed too high coompare to the corners. You solved a week old problem.
Just ordered the 5+ stumbled on your UA-cam page thanks so much for the videos. It does feel like your right there in the room with us! If you ever find yourself thinking about a Maui Hawaii trip hit me up for a place to stay. Its the least I can do for all your help and advice from your channel! Aloha and Mahalo Nun Loa!!
Thank you very much man! Today I bought mine and I'm very excited to start using it! You inspired me to start on this amazing hobby! Great video, informative, straight forward and everything on it was useful, thank you Frankly!
Brother, I am thoroughly impressed by you, so much so that now I feel like a lesser human being :) You have impeccable command over the language, supreme confidence, enormous subject knowledge, attention to every minute detail, and above all pure passion. May God bless you. Just today I assembled my Ender 5 plus and now wish I had seen this video ahead of time. You covered every possible issue that could arise and how to overcome it. I would surely watch your other videos as well. Looking forward to benefitting from your expertise in 3D printing. As pointed out by you the thick tubing for cable management is a nuisance and obstructs the free movement of the print head. Maybe after a few days, I would grow the courage to remove it, as my printer grows older :) As pointed out in Jim Berg comment below, the Y-limit switch could be out of adjustment and may not engage in the first run. Unfortunately, one only realizes it when the print head hits the frame with heart-wrenching noises. Also not having that mentioned 0.2 mm gauge in the tool kit was a disappointment, not sure where to order it from. However, this Ender 5 plus is a top-notch printer. Many thanks to Creality for making this beast for the 'prosumer'. It is surely not a newbie printer, thus a person just starting out 3D printing should consider a basic model first to become more hands-on. Unlike Ender 3 Ver 2, this one is noisy and would do well with a silent motherboard upgrade. I have started my journey of 3D printing a month back with Ender 3 ver2 as I wanted to design apparatus for learning Numeracy (fluency with basic Math calculations). In a short span, I have already got good success in my ambitious project using Tinkercad. Now my 5 year old son is enjoying learning Mathematics. Shahryar Badar Khan, Glad2teach
12:08 Don't screw attach the bed yet.. connect it and lay it edgewise into the slot beside power supply. Manually twist the z-screws to drive both the carriers up against the upper stops. Once all cables (especially z motors) are connected, power up the controller and use the Settings / Move / Z to lower the bed mounts, under controller command, a couple of inches, then screw attach the bed plate rails to the z-carriers. This way, both the z-screws are always assured to be in sync, and both sides bed are equivalent height. 13:53, yeah, you can mount filament spindle pointing in or out, but the spindle releases from the back lock ring with 1/4 turn, easy to remove spool with bed hear spool spindle.
Well now I feel silly. I looked all over google trying to figure out where the wire labeled M went to make matters worse I am actually dyslexic. Turns out it is labeled E for Extrude. Once you identified the extruder It all made sense thank you!
Thank you for this. I just purchased an Ender 5 Plus as my 2nd printer. Ive has a lot of luck with my CR10-S, and wanted the larger print area, so this with its cube like construction, BL Touch built in and the slightly larger print area just seemed like the logical choice. After watching this, Id like to think I made the right decision.
I'm really glad I found this video. I bought a 5 plus today and it definitely helped me put it together. I want to build helmets and other cosplay items and this helped me decide between the CR 10 and the 5+. Looking forward to the other videos you put out.
Just built mine today! I installed the Spider hit end, metal extruder and Capricorn bowden tube before even turning it on. My SD card does have three files on it. I printed the little rabbit. Bumped up to 125mm/s about halfway through. Took about 75 minutes.
Very Nice Video! (all this hanging out is making me restless). And great timing, I just got my Ender 5 plus, yesterday. I went with the 5 + because of the bed stability and then the size was a nice plus too. I do wish they had a PRO version with the silent MB and other mild upgrades - but I am nothing if not a fixer-upper (Moder). I have plans to install a 600 Watt PS for reliability, a direct drive filament feeder and new POM Z axis nuts with the 2 ReliaBot - Tr8x2 Lead Screws (Acme Thread, 2mm Pitch, 1 Start, 2mm Lead) to improve accuracy. By the time I get done, I am sure I’ll find something else to tinker with. Thanks for all your enthusiasm and help! EDIT: Oh, and of course I liked and subscribed! (You earned that!)
Looking into getting my 2nd printer, going back n forth between the CR-10 V3 and the Ender5 Plus. I think this video has convinced me to go with the 5 Plus.
Spectacular video man! I've had a creality cr-10 s5 for a few years and always wanted to pick up a similarly sized printer with a bed that only moves along the Z axis (the footprint of the s5 for a big print is insane because of the bed movement). I think this video has convinced me to pick up the Ender 5 Plus so thanks again for the insight!
Just got mine. About to start my build - after I fully watch this. Then, I’ll follow along. Also - I think you have enough clippers to use one of the blue ones now. 😂
Thanks for this video! I am looking at buying my first printer ever in a month and I really like the 5+ for the build volume, but some of the comments on amazon are very negative. Your video gave me a lot of confidence in the out of the box setup!!!
This video was great, i am getting this model and i was very interested in all you had to say. I will watch your follow up vodeos. Thank you so much for making this.
Nice video. It was long but I like how you walked us through it. Very informative too. I subscribed and looking forward to what you do with this Ender 5 Plus in the future.
Those flush-cut pliers are only for zip-ties trust me lol. You'll break the cutting tip cutting anything else with them. I use them in the aviation mechanic industry constantly
Nice video. :) First thing i wonder is if you still recomend this printer today? The development in hobby 3D-printers is quit rapid. second, how does this printer handle Z-hop? Is it recomended to not use Z-hop on this printer due to the high mass of the Z-axis and were. Third, why don't you use the feeler gauge to level you bed? It should be much more accurat than a random sitcky note.. Edit: With the amazing glas bed from Creality, you never want to let the bed cool during print. When the bed hits room temp the print will loosen. Only other thing to remember with this bed is to wash it with alcohol every now and then. Then the print will stick like crasy as long as you print, and loosen when cooled down.
This was great. Super helpful! Just got my 5-plus all set up and printed the ubiquitous test bunny. Shame they don't give you the gauges anymore. I guess paper will have to do!
Great video. Very informative. Not drawn out. Answered a couple questions I had with my 5 plus. One was an answer that wasn't mentioned (the plate and hotbed not actually being connected. Wasn't sure the binder clips were for that. ). Thank you!
Any suggestions for the cables running from the hotend? Almost had a mishap on the first print with the cable trying to wrap around the gantry on the left side. It looked like you had a hole around the extruder and used a cable tie, but I dont seem to have any holes there. I'll end up looking into a printed track system for it, but need something quick until I'm able to print that. Thanks!
The sd card i got with my ender 3 died after a week lol, the reader is still good though. I just ordered this printer yesterday it arrives today, its my second printer and hopefully a great upgrade for myself
going to start building my ender 5 plus today and i am very worried. someone on reddit recommended this video, so i will watch now. hoping you can make this all clear for me :)
Hey mate! Long time watcher first time poster, just want to say I love the content your creating and putting out for everyone to enjoy. Never owned or been near a 3D printer in my life but today I just finished setting up my Ender 5 Plus. Genuinley cant thankyou enough for all your tips & tricks for everything. In the process of doing a test print now and so far its looking fantastic thanks to your guidance. Looking forward to all the new content to come and all the fun I'm going to have learing about 3D printers and what can be acheived with them. All the best :D
Great vid man! Just ordered an Ender 5 plus can’t wait to get it. Upgrading from and Ender 3 pro for bigger prints. I have a Longer LK4 printer also and it prints beautifully but it has this terrible vibrating/grinding noise that I just can’t get rid of.. no idea what’s causing it. I’ve tried everything to fix it, but while it prints its incredibly loud. Nothing is loose, or over tight, I’m at a loss with it and I barely use it anymore. Which is a shame cause the thing has amazing print quality.
Oke so a top tip to cut your bowden tube realy straight... Use your aluminium frame(from te printer) and a exacto knife/blade keep in mind the cutting angle of the blade!!!
Great Video Frank,on my Ender 3 V2 the .stl files were in a sub directory on the sd card. The presliced g-code were in main dir,but some people said theres were in sub dir also .Keep up the Great Work.
@@FranklyBuilt Wow,Thats weird.Had 2 presliced file and like 5 or 6 .stl with the Creality Sicer"cura" That I've never used before, just S3d.So done all my priints with there slicer like a new person would have, they come out perfect.Thats a nice looking printer there.
10/10 video just built my Ender cr5 plus ^^ working perfect even got the cord around the back bar and up again lol do they all sound like they need oil?
I'm glad I found this, got mine last week. Build was easy but I have to auto level each time then fine tune with the bottom wheels. Is this normal? If I print one thing and everything is perfect, finish that print and start a new print, I still have to mess with the manual adjustments. Generally the bed is too low on the second print and just prints a round thread the doesn't stick to the plate. Got any videos on that? Sucks dialing it in everytime manually. I know I missing some step, just don't know which on. Ender 5 Plus.
Thanks, I've had my Ender 5 + for about 3 weeks and I printed successfully a 32 hr print. I started printing a 49.5 hr print and I had a Thermal Runaway failure after the 34 hr mark. When recycle the printer and resumed the print it went through the motions but no filament was extruded, however, the bed kept moving. So the print failed. I did a test as you did (35:12) and the same thing happened as before it pulls the filament then lets it drop back into position without any extrusion (I marked the filament with a sharpie). Any ideas, nothing on the forums. Thanks
Hey Frank, again awesome walk-thru. Worked great for me. Question: have you had any issues with the level afterwards? I'll level the need, get a great print, then on my next print, I find myself having to adjust the Z again a bit.
Wsup frank ! I finally pulled the trigger on Amazon day. I remember scrolling through the comments saying you don’t use the BL touch anymore or something or you start the print with the nozzle over air instead of the bed or something ? Was tryna get all the info before I assemble my printer and not have my bl touch or bed break lol. Thanks for the content as always🎉
Wow, so I left it in the box for a couple weeks because I wasn’t mentally prepared but it wasn’t too bad. But your video helped me out alot. It wasn’t as bad as the ender 3 tbh. And my benchy came out great with very few strings !
Hi Frank, I hope your move back to the US went smooth, I quite liked you being based here in the UK as a lot of the products you used were UK sourced. I assembled the Ender 5 Plus yesterday and checked my frame with a square and everything was good but as soon as I pressed the Z down button the lefthand side made an almighty grinding sound and bound up the right-hand side is 7mm lower than the left, I measured the lead screws from the tops to the brass fitting with a calliper to get these measurements. Do you have any advice to fix this problem?
Hi Franky great video. This is my first 3D printer. Too awhile to get 'Z' axis right. First print ok. For some reason my bed temperature dropped i the middle of printing? Any idea how to fix that? Thanks
I love your video but I am building my ender and you fly by the cable hookup. The paper instructions aren’t doing it for me and you put your video in fast motion. Can you pls recommend a video I can watch that shows a noobie like me how to wire this correctly? I’m completely stuck
Thanks man...just got my Ender 5 Plus, been using the Ender 3 Pro and loving it. I ordered the silent board upgrade and the upgraded tubing. Do you have a recommendation for an all metal hotend? Any other things i should think about "fixing" before they cause me a migraine? Thanks

Just got a ender 5 plus today step up from an ender 3 v2 ,the build part is great thanks your great .
How was experience? I'm in the same boat right now.
Spectacular video! Got my Ender 5 all set up! Thanks!
This video was super helpful, I am ordering this now! super stoked!
This video was great, i am getting this model and i was very interested in all you had to say. I will watch your follow up vodeos. Thank you so much for making this.
Excellent video! Solved a couple of problems I have! Keep posting videos!
Nice video. It was long but I like how you walked us through it. Very informative too. I subscribed and looking forward to what you do with this Ender 5 Plus in the future.
Thanks for the video, just put mine together and this made it go a lot quicker!
Very good tutorial. I just bought this printer (first 3d printer) and am looking forward to viewing more great videos from your channel.
Dude. You are my hero.
amazing video....the organ music in the background tho....OOOOOOF
Those flush-cut pliers are only for zip-ties trust me lol. You'll break the cutting tip cutting anything else with them. I use them in the aviation mechanic industry constantly
Just subscribed - Just bought a Ender 5 plus and your video helped me out!
i just picked one up and this helped out alot thank you
Awesome video, excellent unboxing and setup, keen for the other videos on upgrading Ender 5 plus 🦾
Thanks very much! I have an upgrade video already but I’m filming a silent board install today
Amazing presentation thank you for sharing this video.
thank you.. i am trying my first 3D printing tomorrow
Nice video. :)
First thing i wonder is if you still recomend this printer today?
Thanks, that was helpful (you've provided better quality info than instruction). Keep up with a good work !
going to start building my ender 5 plus today and i am very worried. someone on reddit recommended this video, so i will watch now. hoping you can make this all clear for me :)
I’m glad I’m not the only one that put tape on those cutters lmao
Looking to upgrade from my Ender 5 to a plus. Was hoping you'd have a video like this to help me out. Cheers bud.
Thanks a lot for the video. Really helped me to build the printer.
Oke so a top tip to cut your bowden tube realy straight...
Use your aluminium frame(from te printer)
and a exacto knife/blade keep in mind the cutting angle of the blade!!!
Thanks man, you are awesome!
Awesome video very well presented.
OMG!!! I WANT THIS PRINTER!!!! GREAT instructions!! You make it look so easy. ....and I don't mind hanging out with you at all! ;-)
Getting fat at 60 (me) and I do think you will love it, if you do get it. The thing is so darn cool, in so many ways.
This was really helpful, I was struggling with the instruction book
juste go 1 ,thx man you explaine very well things to know
Great work mate
got an ender 3 v2 love it now im looking for something with a bigger print space thinking of picking this up or the cr 10 s4
Awesome instruction vid man. Just about to get my ender 5 plus tomorrow. Please keep the updates on this printer when you can. Thanks I appreciate it.
Awesome video, thanks man
Very nice explained Thank you.
Great Video Frank,on my Ender 3 V2 the .stl files were in a sub directory on the sd card. The presliced g-code were in main dir,but some people said theres were in sub dir also .Keep up the Great Work.
Thanks! I searched both cards on my Ender-5s to no luck. It’s super weird lol
Yes very nice presentation :)
Printing off an ender three clone the fox lab Aquila button man I’m looking at this end or five lusting!
the spool holder hack is genius ...why didn't I think of that? lol
What I think he missed is that you can just undo the ring on the spool holder and take it off that way, plenty of room for that.
Yeah but this removes the need for that. It just slides off now .
Useful tips definitely :o
Great tutorial thanks
Thanks, I've had my Ender 5 + for about 3 weeks and I printed successfully a 32 hr print.
I started printing a 49.5 hr print and I had a Thermal Runaway failure after the 34 hr mark.
When recycle the printer and resumed the print it went through the motions but no filament was extruded, however, the bed kept moving. So the print failed.
I did a test as you did (35:12) and the same thing happened as before it pulls the filament then lets it drop back into position without any extrusion (I marked the filament with a sharpie).
Any ideas, nothing on the forums.
Thanks
Got a 5 plus on the way to partner with my CR10s
thanks for the video
Hey Frank, again awesome walk-thru. Worked great for me. Question: have you had any issues with the level afterwards? I'll level the need, get a great print, then on my next print, I find myself having to adjust the Z again a bit.
No not yet. They’re been great so far. You should just need to dial in the level with the knobs
I’m completely stuck
awesome great walk-tru
To repair your nippers, there's liquid rubber to make handles. Check Hone depot.
Thanks
