I was born in scotland in the 70's and lived my whole life here. But even 400 miles away this was an iconic building. Saturday morning kids shows, doctor who, top of the pops, tomorrow's world.... This was where great programming came from. About 10 years ago I was visiting my nephews in London and we were heading to Westfield. I remember walking by Wood Lane underground and I was thinking where do I know that from? Then just on the right - Television Centre. I was pleased as I'd never seen it in person. There was diggers and other contruction in the car park. I thought it'd be the last time it was there and I finally saw it. Gladly the building is still there and in use.
@@ceebee23 Seemed stupid at the time in 2013 but since TC1 reopened in 2018 as a fully refurbished BBC studio and the miles of 1950s offices attached have been converted into luxury flats, it seems at this point to have been completely the right decision.
Strange isn't it? ITV had to come to their arch rivals BBC to get studio space for their daytime shows. BBC Studioworks were laughing themselves silly when ITV Daytime approached them in the autumn of 2017 about a deal. BBC Studioworks make a fortune sub letting Studios TC2 and TC3 to ITV Daytime, a contract which is now indefinite, as ITV abandoned their original plans to go back to a reduced studio centre at the south bank.
Part of it is still owned by BBC Studioworks Limited, who subleases it to ITV. Parts of TVC is still used for BBC studios (i.e. sets), just not for broadcasting itself (which is now at NBH).
Originally BBC News was based in the spur block Stage 4 with Studios N1 and N2. In 1998 they moved into the new extension called Stage 6 and stayed there until 2013
Man i hate the new aesthetic design of the BBC News text, like the information on the bottom, and on the left top, this went from black and bold text to white and slim text. Liked the old one more
BBC News moved into BBC Television Centre in 1969 when colour television was being launched on BBC 1 and ITV. Before 1969, BBC Television News was based at BBC studios in Alexandra Palace in north London.
5:02 - BBC moved their election studio to their BBC Elstree Studios, using the vast Studio D they have for Election 2015 and 2017, as well as the Brexit Referendum night of 2016.
Demolishing Pebble Mill because of a builder's error is bad enough, but tearing BBC Television Center and replacing with HOUSES? Did I hear that correctly? This is the most asinine thing they've ever done. I am American, but also a broadcast archivist and own many BBC recordings.
The building is still there. The large building at the left is still studios used by other channels as well. The right side was the offices, these are now flats. Expensive flats because of the location.
The building is very old. They've been broadcasting since the 1960s, and the building is very old, so they moved. Nowadays, it is still a TV Centre though, and I think the BBC still have a studio 2 there. They sold the building because the broadcasting house is part of a 1 billion British pound project.
Beeb, you must close a wing of BH (which has studios and newsroom), and put here apartments and offices. And also, demolish TVC with apartments and offices (except studios 1-3) and reconstruct TVC with Studios 4-11 (studios 8, 10, 11 is part of a Spur) and BBC Worldwide and BBC Comedy will base at Broadcasting House. Stage 6 will be again as News Centre.
It was an absolute crime they were told by expensive consultants that they would make a lot of money to put back in the coffers for making programs. It didn't make a profit it cost them money and the country has lost truly the best production environment in history. The consultants all bought yachts I assume.
Had the same struggles as a beginner before a colleague introduced me to Mr Jayden mason who showed me great strategies on how trade and accumulate profit constantly which helped a lot during the download and unlike others,He doesn’t ask for anything to teach you. Good people still exist.
Most new traders make the mistake of trading on their own without having the required skills to help them benefit from the market.i was once like that but all changed thanks to an expert

to clear things up the BBC TVC is still in use in broadcasting terms it turned into an apartment complex and its half-owned by ITV!

Greed.. imagine what sum of money they made from selling that space.
The building is very old. They've been broadcasting since the 1960s, and the building is very old, so they moved. Nowadays, it is still a TV Centre though, and I think the BBC still have a studio 2 there. They sold the building because the broadcasting house is part of a 1 billion British pound project.
It Was Sold And When Work Begun They Demolished 5 Of The 8 Studios And They Were In One Of Them Five
The building was the site of BBC's power problems back in 2000 and 2003, so I guess that contributed to the decision.
