In US news and current events today, the Shedd Aquarium Chicago welcomed a new baby whale calf as Bella the beluga whale gave birth to a beluga whale calf in front of overjoyed onlookers. The baby whale, adorable as it may be, is a baby whale birth celebration, and as the beluga whale birth population grows at the Shedd Aquarium, we hope they will continue to celebrate more whale giving birth and whale calf birth in the future.

Its amazing how the baby swam straight to the surface to take its first breaths. Instincts are an incredible thing.
I’ve always found it so interesting that us mammals know exactly what to do when we’re born. We’re like an NPC following a script, unaware of what we’re doing or why we’re doing it
I'm convinced there's an advanced intelligence somewhere in our oceans.
A genius creation from God!
@@jeffarem very true, it takes more faith to believe in no God than to believe in one, how can all of this just be by chance? I mean even the universe, if certain elements were out of balance by just less than 1% the universe wouldn't be. But instead everything is perfectly balanced in design.
@@Chartail1 baseless argument
I love how even while giving birth, belugas are smiling.
And humans are such cry babies while giving birth
They aren’t actually smiling /does not equate to being happy dolphins are the same. I learnt this through reading books and documentaries on dolphins in captivity especially ones trained for shows, people would always say how happy the dolphins looked to be preforming but in reality that’s just how their mouths are structured not necessarily because they are smiling. Still such adorable cute creates ❤
@@bluelemonade277 well looked like they are smiling
man beluga whales deserve to give birth out in the open free sea
@@Bilal_is_joking what
She pushed her last push when she was head down, so baby wouldn’t have to swim farther for that first breath ❤❤❤ love these creatures! That maternal instinct is strong!
Belugas make me feel happy just looking at them. Mazel tov.
Would have been better in nature... Poor thing gave birth in a concrete whale jail... :(
Me too
How about the children dying in palestine how does that make you feel , animal
How is that related
Just remember that beluga is a prisoner and so is it's child.
So amazing how the baby just knew to go to the top to take its first breath! 😩🥰❤️
Yes, the way God designed animals to have this instinct is incredible. Even babies will kinda crawl and root for a breast to get milk, which to me is crazy, since babies are fed through the umbilical cord!

@Kristina yeah I swear none of the people understand how cruel it is to keep marine mammals in captivity
I totally agree.
@@jamesparra2821 Yes, it hurts!😭💔
Pure? The thing is living in a bathtub. This is vile and sick
Learn about education… and kids can see them in person besides educating yourself to why ppl have them there. There are evil ppl who are hunters and kill them. That’s why ppl like them save them. And no their tanks are actually big. Learn before you assume
It's amazing how intuitive animals are, even right from birth.
Fun fact, compared to animals humans are essentially "premature" when they're born, the reason is because if humans developed anymore their huge heads for their big brains would be impossible for a human female to pass through
They dont got legs so theres not much choice
Some babies don't cry at birth.
@@fynkozari9271 Those are the tough babies, 💪
@@yin8079that makes no sense
was it just me or did mom flip her bottom half up to the surface so the baby could get air because they were coming out head first? this is the first head-first birth video I've seen so that was FASCINATING
That’s what I thought happened but I never seen this before the blood scared me
@@DeJahModenah man it’s just afterbirth, completely normal in every mammal
I was wondering the same thing
Definitely what it looked like!!! 😬🥰
Births are usually headfirst in mammals. If the legs come out first it's called a breach birth and that's very dangerous for both a baby and the mother. Some midwives know how to massage the woman's pregnant belly in order to turn the baby around so it's headfirst at the time of birth.
Born a captive.
What a world.
It might be for research purposes i guess or maybe the whale was hurt or smth so they rescued her.
But yeah...animals should definitely not be captives
@@ningninguniverse2453no, she a show animal.
Bella was captured in the Arctic Ocean off the coast of Russia in 2013, when she was two years old. She was sold to Lotte Group along with two other belugas, both of whom have since died prematurely. The last death, in 2019, sparked a campaign to free Bella, as belugas are highly social creatures.
D'aww! Congrats, Bella! What a cutie-pie! Beluga whales are just too darn cute at any age!
What a precious little baby! Good job, mama!
I hope they can stay together...
instinctively knows how to go up for breathing. interesting.
Huh yes if you have a human baby how does it know to breathe
@@WiseApple618 Bro come one he meant that it knows that it needs to go up for breathe out of instinct, human babies have the luxury of being born with air around them and even having the luxury to have air pumped into them to help breathe, though sadly they don't always take their first breath...
N Xarigow It’s called instincts
@N Xarigow just like human babies know how to move their diaphragm to breath, whales know that up means air and air makes me live.
I am me ツ:
Autonomic Nervous System.
At least the little guy seems healthy.
Was able to get out, swim, and take a breath all on its own
I honestly think Belugas, dolphins, and orcas should not be in tanks. It's literally a bathtub to them.
Agreed
But some of these animals have some limitations and conditions that could kill them in the wild
And if they don’t they probably already used to getting hand fed and so they can’t hunt on their own therefore dying of hunger and people like killing these animals in the wild so they’re better here than in the wild in some cases
But I do have to agree that some aquariums just take some of the wild and that is sad
And as for the baby we saw here he/she will probably never be released since she was born in the aquarium
Brent Bedra well sure, for the ones that are unable to survive that is justified i suppose, but it’s not fair to the ones that are just there for grins and giggles.
@Zhou Zay NANI?!
@Zhou Zay yes.
It's so cute how the baby would surface many times, not spending much time underwater at all. It was always taking gulps of breath! Marine life is wonderful, but the mammals are definitely my favourite. Hope her baby grows up healthy!
She's a beautiful mommy 🙂
It's as though she knew the humans were waiting to greet her beautiful baby to the world!
That was wonderful to see and I'll bet spectacular to witness in person!

Born in captivity. What a life it will have 🎉
😢
😪
Woman are incredible. Life bearers, the very first point of contact between an infant and the world. All life comes from the centre of womanhood, the womb. Really awe inspiring. Mammals across the world having babies under insane conditions and then getting right back to swimming/walking or in humans case, work
To be born into captivity, how heartbreaking. 💔
I was looking for a comment with someone saying this. Most of these people are oblivious. So sad.
Aww Wouldn't life be so much better if everyone just watched this. So cute.

This whole universe feels like someone carefully handcrafted everything but was careful not to let us know
An artist you have to search for to find and admire.
But everything has been told to us. If one is really ready to understand.
@ BLOODKINGZ, someone had indeed carefully handcrafted everything and has let us know. You will find undeniable evidence in the Torah, the Gospel or the Qur'an if you care to search for it. I would look in the Qur'an because it seems more natural, more logical, more relatable and more cohesive, at least based on what I have discovered so far in my recent journey to seek the truth. Try to be open minded enough to disregard the unjustified demonization of the great book by the majority of the world.
That artist is the Almighty God no other one because except Him no one could understand how such living systems are functioning soo efficiently without a single reported mishap That only Almighty knows no other

I always thought whales gave birth to their babies tail first, that way the baby wouldn't drown, trying to make its way out of the mother's body. It was surprising to see this one coming out head first, but also very relieving that it was born so quickly.
They usually are- but is some rare cases they are born head first.
That isn't amazing and precious. 🥰
It's such an honor to see things that otherwise I wouldn't have been able to.
Just born and still so cute!
How amazing! Truly beautiful.
OMGoodness! How Precious! Wish it was free.😍

It's interesting to note that whales are ungulates, like horses, giraffes, rhinos, etc.
Ungulate babies can walk (swim) almost immediately after birth.
(They also have multiple stomachs, and are color blind, among other commin traits!)
Beautiful! Thanks for this

Man, I’d hate to be born in captivity.
Why?
its endangered
Better than being born and risk being eaten by killer whales or great white sharks or as an adult being hunted by humans
You are in captivity. Everyday you live your life the way society and culture dictate you. You go to school because you are required to. You learn things because you are taught so. You use gadgets because people sold it to you. We are all captives.
Yee. Free food, no predators, free wet.
*I'd hate to*

Cute but too bad beluga calves have a very small chance of surviving captivity. It is the reason most Belugas in captivity are wild caught.
