I don't think any game lover that was around when SFII was released will forget it. It was just such a huge phenomenon in the game world. I remember in every arcade in Sydney, there was always crowds around the SFII machines. Arcade machines were already everywhere in Sydney back then. Every shopping centre had at least one huge arcade, sometimes 2. There was also chemists, fish and chip shops, pools, movie theatres, newsagents...you name it, you could find an arcade machine there. SFII just ramped that up even more though. It was such an amazing time. Online gaming has NOTHING on the arcade era.

That’s awesome. I love hearing about what the era was like in other regions, it’s fascinating. I totally agree with you, online just doesn’t replicate the experience.

Scarlet Sprites Absolutely! I will add that by 1993, SEGA New Astro Citys had become the standard here which continued with tge Blast City, Megalo's etc. Apart from the occasional dedicated cab that was a stand up.
I finally just bought my first cab which arrived last week;, a New Astro City. I'm addicted already! I am also getting another NAC along with an original 4 player Golden Axe: Revenge of Death Adder soon. Can't wait! GA2 one of my all time favourite games, shame SEGA was too stupid to port it to the Saturn. Also got a Spiderman board to go with it. Another of my favourtie SEGA games that never got a hole release. I am a diehard SEGA fanboy but I also hate them when I look back on things SEGA Japan did, lol.
I saw you other video with the VF machine, so jealous! There is a VF2 machine on ebay AU at the moment for $750 but it does not include the game. Quite the joke really. If it was complete, I wouldn't be able to resist.
Apart from the cabs, I've bought Sunset Riders Snow Bros., Shinobi, SSFIIX, Alien vs Predator, Street Fighter Zero 2 Alpha and SFII' Turbo. I love Turbo personally. I try to stick to Jp versions to get the untampered games. I also bought a bootleg Pandora's Box 4s so I can hack it. Just have to wait for something to arrive now so I can finally try the NAC out!

Congrats on all of those purchases, that’s quite the collection you’ve amassed in a short time. Interesting hearing about the Sega candy cabinets being so common, here in the States few people would recognize them outside of enthusiasts. West Coasters have a much easier time landing them, they are pretty scarce here on the East. I have a Naomi 2 NetBoot setup running in my Blast City, definitely look into that if you haven’t already. As for CPS1, Alien vs. Predator is one of my favorites, great pickup!

@@ScarletSprites CE is my fav also, so much I made a dedicated dynamo cab into a sf2 ce cab, bezel, cpo with plexi glass, side art, added led lights for the marquee to eliminate heating and warping of marquee, IL Eurosticks. Yea i like champion edition the most i like the speed I've never really liked to play fast prefer to settle into a match and really gets some good combos going, also i love the champion edition colors for the players over the turbo.
I bought 3 champion edition cps1s while i was in Japan a few years back 2 of them i converted to the usa hyper fighting and the other to the Japanese turbo edition, i like the jpn turbo the big turbo in big letters as it scrolls across the screen is pretty cool, i have got all of the original sf2 pcbs now, street fighter 2 world warriors, street fighter 2 Champion Edition, street fighter 2 hyper fighting, street fighter 2 turbo. super Street fighter 2 new challengers, super street fighter 2 x and hyper street fighter 2, I'm a proper mega fan of the original series, liked it up to the point of 3rd strike but it got a bit silly after that and lost interest.

Nice! I have been tempted to pick up a World Warrior board a few times but I always talk myself out of it. Realistically I know I’m just going to end up playing Champion Edition. Like you, I’ve never played any Street Fighter after 3S.

@@ScarletSprites yea this is why i like hyper street fighter 2, you can choose world warrior characters not only do you get the world warrior faces, victory poses but you also gets the strengths and weaknesses of the original game, i always found it odd in world warriors one hit would take off huge amounts of energy bar that is also the same with world warrior characters in hyper.

Hey man. Hope you are still active. I did this on a Street Fighter II' - Hyper Fighting [B-Board 91635B-2]
I believe this could be a Hyper Fighting or a championship edition from what I have seen on arcade museum. We have tried two different sets of eproms and both have resulted in no video then some "grunt" noises that sound like Ehonda then shortly after the game just days "SEVEN" over and over again. Any ideas?

Awesome vid, man. I just gotin a SFII board today with some graphical issues. Going to pick up a burner and see if I can burn some new chips to see if that fixes the issue. Your vid helped make sense of the process.

    • @ScarletSprites
      @ScarletSprites  6 років тому +1

Glad to hear it was helpful. The little burners are definitely nice to have on hand if you start collecting boards. I was even able to make a few Neo Geo repros, although that’s a more time consuming process.
Best of luck with the board. I burned and replaced every eprom I could on a Final Fight board and it didn’t solve the issue. It still doesn’t hurt to try before going down other paths.

Im late to the party but there were never any official hyper fighting boards(thus there is no possible way to find two speed versions of hyper fighting out in the arcade world).
Hyper fighting was always sold as an upgrade kit to the CE boards.
The misconception where everyone's arcade board is slower than mame versions / emulation etc due to running HF roms on a CE board should be ignored because that reasoning is flat out wrong.
