I am surprised that Wavelength did not come up. I really like that huge dial.

That's a really clever component! There are so many games released each year that me asking for "recent" games probably just made people think of games released in the last year (Wavelength is a 2019 release).

The player board for the recently funded game Peaks really caught my eye. It's multi-use and creatively integrates several components simultaneously.

Nice video and list. Here are a couple more:
-Planet Unknown’s Lazy SUSAN for tile selection.
-Planet’s 3d planets on which surface’s attach magnetically.
    Thanks!!

I love the mountain in Dice Miner, it feels cool to build and pour dice into. Also the acetate cards in Canvas, and the way you build artwork in the sleeve.

Really enjoyed this video and it made me want to check out some of the games I hadn't played. A couple additions to the list: Parks. The stained wood tokens are really nice, especially the 'wild' tokens in the shapes of different wildlife. The game trays that hold them fit perfectly in the small box and form the shapes of trees. It's a nice touch. Final Girl: The modular episode boxes are well thought out to allow you mix and match locations and enemies. The magnetic box covers work well to create game boards for your setup.

I played a demo of Kutna Hora recently and I was really impressed by the economic calculators they've built for it.
They took all the complications of buying and selling calculations and put it in a neat little "machine"

It is so interesting that design for games is more than mechanisms. That it is a view of the whole 360 Degrees of the experience of a product, to include spacial: Earth being just one of a variety of examples. So fascinating.

Nice list! Im also very impressed with the wheel of Tiwanaku and Turing Machine, they both are games i really enjoy too.
Another games that imho also got a nice, good looking components that also serve a function:
    1. Moonrakers : in their titan box there is this modular card tray where we can just put cards we want to use for a particular games. Super helpful.
    2. Paris : La Cite De La Lumiere. The way they used the box as the game board is just so nice simple and pleasing.
    3. Unsettled : first is their gametrayz and how they can just be arranged for the game, also some planets in the game just so unique in the way it looks and how they function. The modularity is brilliant
    4. Thunder Road Vendetta : the way the map keeps growing and evolving. Is not new and some games have implemented it already but it just works so well in the game.
    5. The Great Wall: its just so epic of a table presence especially with all the minis and black powder expansion
    6. Foundations of Rome: its pretty, over the top, yet works.
    7. Stiffling Dark and Redwood: in both games they utilize this funky acrylic (i guess) as flashlight (in Stiffling Dark) and as camera pov (in Redwood) it looks frickin interesting
    8. Whale to Look : their double sided plushies…..i dont know whale to look

Fun list. Return to Dark Tower needs to be on this list. That tower is a blast!

Just wanted to put a shout out here for Dead Reckoning by John D. Clair. It's the perfect evolution of his card crafting system, and the pirate ship cube tower always makes combat tense and fun.

This is a great list! Couple other cool ones:
    1. Don’t Go In There - the box itself is a dice tower too (and has glow in the dark dice too!).
    2. The Spill - the center of the board contains a tall oil rig that serves as a dice tower to put oil into different regions of the map.
    3. Gloomhaven: Jaws of the Lion - the map book where you play directly on the pages makes set up so incredibly easy.
    4. Spirit Island - the modular board that has you adding map tiles depending on the number of players makes it scale beautifully.
    5. Batman: The Dark Knight Returns - the board itself is a whiteboard where you can draw things to indicate changes to foreign state and elimination of certain spaces as you progress in the form. Plus, it’s just a beautiful board to look at.

Yes! I love the box insert in Legacy of Yu. It’s very functional as you constantly need to put cards in the right slot while you are playing (preparing for the next game, as it’s a resettable legacy game).
I have seen such a clear insert with labels underneath before in Coffee Roaster.

The upgradeable meeples in Oak are worth a mention. You can add little upgrade pieces to your druids, each with their own effect.

An Age Contrived, Aquatica, Expeditions, Merchants of the Dark Road and Frostpunk are all board games that are on my list of games to play and get. As someone who owns Frostpunk the video game, that one is prolly closer to the top of the list; because every time I hear the name of the game I can hear the chilling wind and the music from Frostpunk and it gets me fired up every time!

Next Station: London uses colored pencils in a highly thematic way. It matches the station maps designs for metros. Plus, it looks great at the end of the game.

The building miniatures in Beyond Humanity: Colonies are fascinating, especially the primary ARC module. The Three Headed Monster team designed a hybrid game where the main component (ARC that the initial colonists travel to the new planet on and use as the first building in the new colony) actually has the computing hardware onboard, and each new module constructed into the colony is connected electronically to that main board. It then updates the whole system, does a lot of the math which would take up a lot of players' time, and then sends the output to the app, which really mainly functions as a BYO screen for the hardware that comes with the game.

    What a great idea
*wavelength is super a cool main component
*codename and Mysterium park’s way of telling you what pictures and words you are looking for
*first rat: I love how the super powered rats slot into the tails of one of your rats
*micro macro with the giant paper mat
Those are some that come to mind

I recently got Planet Unknown and man, that lazy susan is just brilliant (was so pleasantly surprised to find it in my retail copy). I would have loved it even if it was just for tile sorting and storing purposes as that can be a real hassle in tile laying games with different sized pieces that you need to keep apart, but it also serves a great game purpose. In a way I feel it combines the selection wheel from Hadara (where the first player chooses which card colour each player start their draft at) and the game trayz in Between Two Castles where it facilitates setting up the next game as you put away the current one.

Another two I’d throw out there is the money in Millennium Blades and the command boards in Conan/Batman! It’s take paper money (the worst money in any game IMO) and turns it into my favorite money in any game by bundling it into stacks. The command board for Batman/Conan is incredibly versatile in its usage and keeps things very well organized

I would like to add Uprising - Curse of the last Emperor, they have new type of standees. I prefer such great standees instead of 3d models. This isn't just plastic glass.

Isn't there a game where you build spaceships through parts upgrades as part of the game and each part is a mini piece and an accompanying card?

Not with miniatures, as far as I know. But with tiles or cards, there are a few, like Galaxy Trucker, Xia, Outer Rim, Among the Stars, etc.
