      Even better, use a good quality spoon and put them in the fridge. Unlike the roller which has little crevices to get oil and dirt trapped inside, the spoons can be fully sanitized. Just my two cents. (My mum is an ophthalmologists assistant and has seen some infections in the face and eyes from poorly sterilized rollers, hence why she recommends the spoons instead. It also helps prevent acne breakouts, another plus there.)

    Hey doc, does the IOP of person changes throughout the day or remains constant. What factors cause it to fluctuate and how much fluctuation happens. Mine came 16 and 19

    • @DoctorEyeHealth
      @DoctorEyeHealth  Рік тому +1

      Really good question! The IOP can fluctuate due to the time of day, usually higher in the early AM while people are sleeping and lowest in the evenings. People with glaucoma tend to have larger flux or variation. Also position can change the IOP (laying flat vs sitting up). Also sleeping position may increase IOP more on the side you are sleeping. There are many studies on it.

    • @DoctorEyeHealth
      @DoctorEyeHealth  Рік тому +3

      Thanks Demi! It is true that makeup is a possible cause of irritation and possibly a contributing factor for dry eye (more videos on that topic to come). I am sure you look amazing without makeup!
      Some people do develop swelling of their conjunctiva (the clear covering of the eye) due to inflammation from dry eye and some people produce extra mucous as well. It is best for people to not pick at the mucous because that can start a feedback loop that makes your body produce more. Best to ask you local eye doctor for an exam and evaluate if there is anything more that could help.

  • @Prithu1509

    Dr Allen, i had a question.Nowadays children are suffering from myopia and the number is increasing day by day. I read somewhere that this is because children are staying indoors and are not getting enough sunlight due to which their eye grows more than it should. Is this true? Does sunlight effect growth of eyes? Does getting more sunlight reduces myopia?

    • @DoctorEyeHealth
      @DoctorEyeHealth  Рік тому +3

      Hey this a great question! Overall, this is mostly correct. Spending more time indoors and doing near task activities (which we see more and more of) does have an influence on myopia development, especially for children at genetic risk (1 or more parents with myopia or high myopia). Spending more time outdoors has shown to offset some of this development. The true relationship to "sunlight" is not fully understood but myopia development is multifactorial and very complex. I personally think the slowing down effect is more from being outside, looking in the distance and the way light refracts to the peripheral retina in this scenario...rather than some magic of sunlight. I have heard some bad sources tell people to stare at the sun and that IS A BAD IDEA. I am planning to do a full mini series on myopia, hopefully before the year is out. What other questions about myopia do you have? I would love to know so I can try to answer those in the upcoming videos.

    🤔As a nurse for 23 years, we've always cleansed the patients eyelids and lashes with Johnson and Johnson Baby shampoo and it still works magic to this day. Also I stopped wearing eye makeup years ago, however, all of this mess is quite simple go over the eye make up with a thin layer of Vaseline, wash it with a towel and plain water and your eyes will end up crispy clean. These are very effective and cheap methods that have worked for decades. But of course as we all know, this is nothing but a mere business trying to gain a profit off of ineffective products from people that lack knowledge in this area🤦‍♀️
