Absolutely Danny, they’re called hammer 🔨 fixings in England too and astonishingly you hammer them in, it’s only the non tradesmen/DIYers that will pull you up on that? And with regards the tree planting I’m from the planting mixture camp, as the trees are often growing in pure peat or compost the idea is to mix a 50/50 planting mixture of compost and land soil so the roots are not shocked by the sudden and complete change in conditions and work through the mixture and then out into the surrounding soil, mulching always good, just one other thing to look at is you really shouldn’t plant the trees below the level they’re at as already as this can rot/kill them. Great progress! Best Andy.
Perfect tree planting demo! Square hole, so the roots grow out rather than round and round, and mulching rather than enriching the soil underneath so, as you say, the roots have to search for the nutrients!
Just found your channel and really like the explanations you put behind all your decisions - will watch much more of your vids and gonna follow along - thx
What a process. It looks very good. Looking forward to the next phases of the kitchen renovation. You guys are doing a fantastic job. THANK YOU for letting me take a look ♥
When I lived in the Mediterranean, I remember the distance between each olive tree was dependent on the amount of rain that fell in the area. So at times, it would be 3m between each tree (lots of rain) or 5m, 10m I think if it was longer than 20m, they didn't bother planting. They also had a dip at the tree base for water to run to the trunk.. So that the trees could live with another and kit vomorte for water. I think your solution will work if you bring in extra water to your newly planted trees. Thought to share if that helps. If you have to go on long holidays, in Australia, you can order tree water bags. It will water a tree for a month via drip irrigation.
The only thing you may need is some way to keep the metal from wearing on the conduit. I like this light metal framing, much less hassle. I agree with using a sound barrier, it will save years of complaints. I saw what Geoff Lawton was doing, he's also adding low growing plants to help keep moisture. Where you are, lavender may be ideal for that use. Double the pollinators, have the fragrance, and maybe use the flowers in cooking or oils too.
I thought it had a really nice vibe to it, too! It’s called “Orange” by Marc Robillard. We use an Artlist subscription for all of our music so I’m not sure if it’s available elsewhere or not.

Hopefully it’ll grow well once spring kicks in 🤞🏻

Wish I knew about that framing tool when I did my downstairs bathroom! Will have to get one before I do my kitchen and upstairs bathroom.
SO WORTH IT! It made the framing at least 5x faster 💪🏻
@SmithsdaleFarm shh, don't say that! The wife will have even more work for me, and I'm already restoring the whole house on my own... 😅
Get her involved! 😉
@@SmithsdaleFarm Trust me... NO ONE wants that!
😅
Thanks for posting and sharing.
