- This week, we have a little versus challenge with vinyl and sublimation! We're answering some viewer questions by comparing Siser Easy Subli to Printable Heat Transfer Vinyl (HTV). We printed the same design on two black cotton t-shirts and compare the results to determine which we think looks the best! And, we encountered some surprises along the way, watch us #doitbuilditmakeit!

Printable HTV all the time and I've never had an issue. There should be two sheets there, a front and a back piece to each sheet. You peel off the back and then put the front piece on your shirt and press it. It should stay there.
I use Expressions Vinyl brand printable htv. Never had a problem. Comes out beautiful. Never use a transfer sheet on printable htv. I press at 374 degrees for 12 seconds with parchment paper. Paper never sticks. As it cools it lifts off by itself. Best of luck…might be the brand of vinyl. Love you guys and love your videos …
How many washes u get
Yeah I use a Teflon sheet NO PROBLEM
@Jan 4 Suncoast, Thank you for mentioning this brand. Is this paper sold on Amazon. If so can you link it here...I an looking for an easy transfer solution for sublimation.
Where do you buy the printable Expression brand?
The printable transfers should come with a piece of paper, thin almost like tissue paper. I don’t know why but this is the only thing that does not stick to the transfers. I do a lot of these, transfers for dark & light fabrics, two different kinds.
You guys are my favs. Very entertaining and on point. Others are boring and drag it out til you want to just stop the video. Can’t wait to see MORE FROM UOU TWO!!! Thank you both!!
Thanks Dawn!!! 🥰
Such a joy to watch you guys working together, my husband and I have never figure it out how to work in a project together , I always end up doing it alone in the end. Thanks for sharing, love all your videos.
Aw thank you! We bicker sometimes but overall we just love each other so much it's not too stressful!
@@KimandGarrettmakeit ♥️♥️
Thanks guys. Beginners like me need to see this stuff.
Aren't you supposed to mirror image and do it like regular vinyl? It looks like it transfered onto the transfer sheet I instead of the tshirt
Nice
He peeled the backing off and laid vinyl face up. That is the correct way. No mirroring on printable.
Did he use printable for light or darks
You weren’t supposed to stick the printable vinyl on the sticker. You just apply parchment over it after you remove the back
It was a fun video as always … because we love you guys. Can’t win them all … all of the time! See ya next week.
Once again you rock. I have used the easy subli. I don't care for how it feels really.. I have recently upgraded my transfers to laser printing with ghost white toner. So much easier once you get the hang of it. Less papery feel. Best of all you have a laser printer for your daily needs as well. Sublimation is so tricky sometimes with the ghosting and having to use a high polyester count tshirt. Take a look at the Ghost White videos. They rock with transfers that work on dark and light.
The bacon sign lol, thanks for the tutorial I need some easy sub
Ok then, back to the drawing board! Lol!! You guys are great!!!
Such a great team 💪🙋♀️💘 we cannot win them all it was a TRUE test so thank y’all
Love y'all you teach me so much sad I just discovered y'all ☺️
The printable vinyl I use has its own cover sheets. Oh well Garrett you can't win them all. Have a great week you two!
Oh Man Garrett… you let me down! You had a perfect “311” song drop opportunity! Could’ve been a perfect “beautiful disaster” or “down” moment! 🤣 The shirt turned out beautiful. (Sublimation terrifies me. The only thing I haven’t tackled) You guys always chose the coolest designs. It’s bc you’re freaking rockstars. Much Love Guys!
Loved this video. I laughed at the errors. Been there before.
Have you guys looked at white toner printers? We have a Uninet iColor 560 and have had varying levels of success with it.
what settings do you use to get the easysubli to print so well?
I haven’t used printable htv yet, but could you have printed it on the wrong side of the paper. It seems to stick really well to the parchment paper with a beautiful transfer. Love you guys from Aus🇦🇺
Great project but I'm kinda disappointed that the ink jet side of it didn't work which means I gotta find an affordable sub printer. Thanks for sharing; Have a blessed week!!!
Love it, mistakes and all 😎👍🏻
Printing on the correct side? I was getting ready to order Easy Subli and haven’t seen many videos on printable htv to know if I wanted it.
THAT TAPE REMOVAL WAS MAGIC THAT ALONE MADE IT WORTH THE VIEW.
lol thanks!
I love ES and have never had a problem. Are you printing on the correct side? Having a whole solid print you don't need to use a transfer sheet just PP.
You don’t use HTV Transfer paper with printable HTV. Peel it off after it prints, let it dry, and lay it on shirt. Use parchment directly on top. Then let cool and peel. It works better with teflon paper. I had this same mistake. That’s where you went wrong. Good luck!
Interesting, we'll have to try that!
I just bought the siser easysubli htv. It came with the HTV and the mask. But which one is the printable one? One has a rougher texture. The other one's a little smoother. I figured the smoother one would be the 1 to put in my epson 4800. But it won't feed in my printer.
You guys are so cute! On a one piece vinyl you don't need a carrier sheet... Also could it be possible that you printed the wrong side?
Ive tried to do this and the diff vinyls. Everytime it melts the vinyl. Ive used all the temps and times. What am I doing wrong
Interesting that it only took 311 degrees . Usually sublimation is quite high temperature to transfer like 390 (its been awhile so not sure exactly) but is it cause of the paper which allows lower temperature to bring the image to easily turn vibrant?
Have you guys used Frosty Clear Dye Sublimation HTV
I have a epson printer when I print on easy subli the ink smears not on sub paper, any suggestions? Thanks
i use the ppd tranfer sheets prepress my shirt let it cool down then peel my backing off and place it on my dark tee line it up and then press with teflon sheet 373 for 13 sec
I have used printable vinyl and have had absolutely no problems other than my cutting error.
IS THE IMAGE supposed to be mirrored and face down?
If the ink is coming off then you're not following the siser easy subli instructions to dry the sheet/image first. Also for a single piece image, don't use a transfer sheet, use a piece of parchment paper. much less expensive.
Was this printable vinyl for darks or was it for lights because if it was for lights then of course it won’t work. You need printable vinyl for darks in order for it to work on a black t
What brand of printable HTV was used? I've never had a problem
are you sure you printed on the right side of the non-easysubli?
What paper did she use and what transfer sheets
It looks like you're using uncoated parchment. You need to use the coated parchment that's non-stick. I used uncoated once and the exact same thing happened.
It’s sticks to the paper because that’s the side that has to stick to the shirt.
Thank you. I just purchase easysubli
Have y’all tried dark fabric a sub paper from inkjet printing or no
We have!
Depends which kind of paper you got they are different, one is made for dark one for light ,
Light I believe your supposed to mirror the image and for dark you just print regular
I think you transferred it to the butcher paper
Mirror image and put the printed side down possibly?
haha my alexa is counting down
not sure who won? easyJet sublimation or HTV?
I thought that sublimation was to press into the fabric, these seem more like iron on vinyl?
Never had a problem. I think you should be using silicone paper on top.
“I think everyone has an inkjet printer at home” except Tina 😂😂😂 I do have 2 laser printers though
Did you print on the right side? Maybe because both sides are blank make sure you printed on right side
So funny, but great to see a fail, we all have them!
So true, we all made mistakes and sometimes mistakes help us not make them anymore. 😊
It isn't necessary to use the mask on Easysubli single piece transfers. Only necessary when the transfer is multiple pieces
oh! Thanks for the tip!
I think your printable sheets are different for light and dark. Light you print non mirrored. Dark, you print mirrored, and press the back. Maybe that was the issue?
hey Guys, love your episodes - super fail , i use printable HTV all the time, no parchment paper, use the recommended transfer sheets that the HTV provider recommends, they work great when you follow the directions maybe try finding the correct transfer sheets cheerz and good luck from AUS
I have the Siser easycolor HTV with Mask and the image I wanted to use was vivid colour, it would not print out, came out as grey. Why does this happen, I am using Inkjet printer, printed same image on printer paper and Yes full colour, I am not a happy camper, as it is not cheap.
Do you even pre-press, Bro?
The problem is the parchment paper. Should use butcher paper. The parchment paper isnt coated so its pulling your design off the shirt
I wish the EasySubli papers were a bit more affordable. In the long run, better to buy a DTF printer. They are becoming more affordable now.
Most printable htv you don't mirror. You print right way and weed then put on shirt face up then press. I use Starcraft
a little more step by step explaining would be nice
You do not use a transfer sheet with printable HTV. You simply lay the print down and cover with parchment paper to press. What kind of printable HTV are you using?
Press with a silicone sheet as it wont stick
You were removing the carrier sheet. You supposed to apply it as if it is HTv.
No need to add mask to single sheet cut out. Only if multiple pieces. Do not use maskon transfer paper.
You forgot to lint roll them lol
The htv seems to be the wrong way round. Printed on wrong side maybe
Why not test it before the video??
So you see the most genuine response
Mirror image and press face down.
not on a dark color
Yeah i see that was user error
I don't think you are supposed to use a transfer sheet on printable HTV. I've never had a problem with it maybe try a different product.
I would make sure I had the correct side😜 and use sublimation ink. See if it works.
good idea
That was your mistake!. That was 30 sec!
The real test is which technique or method DTG, HTV, DTF, HTTP, LGBTQ+ whatever, the end result has to look pretty and pass the Washer and dryer test. Substance over style.
You can’t use that easy subli mask on anything but easy subli.
don't use transfer paper on printable htv - it will adhere to it, as you found out
It shouldn't stick to parchment.
HM!
You're doing the sticky side towards the transfer sheet and not towards the shirt.
The image needed to be mirrored and then laid face down and then covered with butcher paper, and press the remove butter and then remove the paperbacking. Hope this helps ya out
Printable Vinyl doesn't was very well
We haven't had issues!
Must be buying some cheap printable vinyl.
They made a whole 15 min video, that could’ve been done in 5 mins top
Dang!
Who cares? They're fun to watch.
@@BeccaPickles shut up, i was talking to you 🤣
You not applying correctly. You are not letting it cool and not pressing long enough!
LoL scary instructions. Don't read!
The man child's tiresome after a bit. Stay at home and do the dishes next time.
Sorry, that I like to have fun all the time. ~garrett
man he's cringe
can you print cut on Easysubli with a cricut instead of using sissors?
Yes, I will be posting a video soon detailing this
I dont have an inkjet printer 😭
