Friendly reminder. Don't preorder games in 2018.

    • @BRockandriffs
      @BRockandriffs 6 років тому +7

      bacon froyo
Because preordering doesn’t put pressure on game developers and/or publishers to make good quality games.
If there is already a guaranteed revenue stream (preorders) regardless of quality, creators are less likely to make the necessary improvements or patches that would otherwise improve sales if it weren’t for preorder culture.
Refusing to preorder forces creators to create an adequate product at launch, subject to critical reviews and audience reception.

    • @BRockandriffs
      @BRockandriffs 6 років тому +1

      bacon froyo
No, a lot of developers are not in charge of their own advertising, publishers tend to market the game early because they know idiots will preorder and it takes pressure off them to make sure the game is acceptable at launch.

Tell them to try and play those shitty freemium games on mobile without paying and see how much they enjoy the gameplay.
They don't seem to grasp the insidiousness of a game being intentionally designed to frustrate you so much while playing you are compelled to spend in game currency just to make the pain stop.

Getting someone killed, or at least inconvenienced, humiliated, arrested for what ever they happen to find, drugs, CP, whatever, is the whole point of SWAT'ing someone. He got caught though, so time to roll out the prank defense. Good luck with that I guess, and use a fucking anonymous line next time.

some dude couldn't take a $1.50 L wager match in COD, his opponent gave a fake address, loser swatted the address and a father of two was shot dead by cops because the swatter made it sound like a homicide and hostage situation, and the father didn't even play video games he just opened the door and screamed (from my understanding) because of the amount of cops surrounding his house

I kinda don't want to start arguing, but...
Guys, you don't make sense. If the game is "overhyped" then why are there so many people out there enjoying it? Why does Bilzzard make so much money with Oberwatch Esports? Why is there such a big player base? Huh? It's not overhyped if it lives up to the players' expectations. And although there are some jerks, the community is very nice. I've made some good friends and from my experience, there's a whole lot less trolling/jerks in Overwatch than in TF2.

In physiologically speaking, a common conception is that "Can we define what is normal?" This can lead to idea of actually noone is normal, everybody somewhat ill and all we do is generalize. So making gaming priority to family and friends can be define as illness but there is actually nothing stopping to say that making family priority to gaming is a illness aswell. Or more realistically example could be putting friends over family etc. I guess all that draws the line is damage that station can cause to you and others around you.

I feel like gaming addiction is definitely a real thing gamers dont give enough attention to. I mean in a sense gamers are worse than smokers, at least they know when they're addicted and that it is bad for them. Gaming isn't technically bad for you, but it is for addicted gamers.

I think you should do a video on (internet) gaming disorder. I love playing games and do so more than socially acceptable, (which is probably the same for most of this gaming community). I've studied a *bit* of research on internet gaming disorder as it was called (and have a planned psychology research project topic on it), and I don't think it should be discounted/ignored. Certainly not every gamer, or even majority of dedicated gamers have it and neither *should* it be generalised. Nor the criteria "specific" enough for those who do suffer. TBH look at the criteria for depression and anxiety. They are so vague that at a glance they can match most, which is why professionals and not the internet is meant to diagnose these situations. It frustrates me that saying "I'm depressed/suicidal" is such a normal thing to say for those who aren't. Normally the defining point is that the individual is *distressed* about their situation... If they aren't concerned, it *isn't* a problem for them. Gaming has amazing helpful benefits for some individuals and I celebrate all of these victories, it's really exciting that something I love can help people. I also know of some who will spend thousands of dollars, lose relationships, jobs, education etc because they *can't* control the reinforcement games give. Think about it: games are designed to give satisfying rewards to players to make them feel good. It's the same with gambling, drinking, drugs etc. They are shown to hijack the reward system of the brain, and can even make other positive experiences "less" rewarding.
I love watching your videos. But I think ignoring a serious/ridiculing a topic like this isn't good, same as if I saw a video making fun of depression.

I'll elaborate/reinforce what I'm trying to say. Why gaming addiction stands out from "golf", "reality TV" etc addictions is because games are * designed* to make you feel good. There's many arguments in the psychology field about if it's a true disorder, but my view is this: if alcohol, drugs and gambling are addictions because they have a physical effect on the body to increase cravings to make you stop having the healthy life an individual desires then gaming CAN also be applicable.
Yes, perhaps these individuals are already "weak" from their lack of discipline, and have other symptoms which make them prone to this disorder, but so do most mental/mood disorder. I.e. more stressed = higher chance of dementia, alcoholic parents= higher chance of drinking alcohol. Do these disorders get ignored/laughed at because they have other diagnoses? Do you say "drug addiction doesn't exist, because they got bullied in school and it's only a coping strategy."?
You could deny that gaming disorder should just be classified as "just another addiction", but sometimes it's important to identify the key element that causes the individual to a self identified low quality of life. So yes, I think it would be really good for a gaming channel to acknowledge that for some, this disorder exists. But I also think that it should be strongly reinforced that it *isn't* applicable to everyone. Does everyone who drinks alcohol an alcoholic? No way. Is someone who purchases/consumes alcohol that causes serious damage to their own economic, social and health wellbeing, and cannot stop, an alcoholic? Most likely. Is a gamer who has the same lifestyle, treating gaming above other life choices in a serious situation *and they can't stop*?
So please do a video. Acknowledge it. And please, put on a positive spin... To love games, but to enjoy other things in life too, like relationships food, other hobbies. Because for the individuals who do have gaming disorder... They can't.

The creator of Pepe would likely lose in court, if somebody actually took him to court. He left Pepe in the public space for way too long to still have any legal copyright claim. That said, Valve has to respect the takedown notice in the meantime.

i always wondered why overwatch is such a big esport; i mean, everything about overwatch screams NOT AN ESPORT!!! the game mechanics are just so stale and easy to learn
but because blizzard puts so much money into events a lot of people will play i cuz they can earn lots of money of it.
look at clockwork and seagull, they both sold out and earn now ten times as much money as they did in comp tf2.
    just a thougth

I don't own Overwatch, so I can't really make an argument, but have _you_ played competitive Overwatch? Because if you haven't, then you can't make an argument either. "press a button and everything does everything for you" sounds like something someone who has never even touched the game would say, but again, I want to make sure because I wouldn't know.

      Seanyboy Gaming
      Pharah:space=fly skill
      Mercy:M1=not having team dying skill
Lucio:just Press shift and it heals skill
      Bastion:click and adventur game skill
      Junkrat:die=kills and potg skill
Torb:build turret and nothing Else skill
The most dept This game has in skill is just aiming Can you aim? If yes congrats your now gm (yes positoning is also something but shh Im being hyperbolic) while in tf2 there is so much as strafing rocket jump projectile deflection smart use of spy using Scouts movement surviving as medic keeping über etc... and the infinite number of compinations you Can do and not to talk about the god salty comunity in the game and unbalanced shit they have and almost all ults be a free insta kill Hey cant hit the pharah? Then use the handy Dandy tacti Vizor it locks on to all shit you see so dont worry about aming! Inst it just fun to get killed by an unfair adventage in tf2 you Can say fuck I died to someone better then me not just fuck he used his ult or the stupid latency they have if I had a penny for everytime someone hit me behind a wall I would have enough money to buy the Company and the textur glitches or missing Sound IDK if its only me but I have so Many bugs in my game I cant play it and yet when I ask for help I get the same copy paste e-mail saying thank you for your compliant we Will look further into your problems and after 3 months still nothing way to keep the game up

MonZo you stupid. What you expect an esport to be? Them being inside the game themselves? Of course they press button because thats the input. If there is joystick they use joystick. Dont be so simple. Sometime 'just pressing button' require some luck and skill just a real sport would be. except that no big physical movement is involved.

By that "gaming disorder" definition, modern economy is a disorder, too, since it heavily prioritizes the nows over the laters, which _constantly_ and _inevitably_ leads to bad consequences.
