This is great! I had never heard of smaller dogs coming home later! My miniature pinscher (12 years old now) did have a hard time eating when we brought him home at 8 weeks. My GSP on the other hand had no issues at all. So glad you guys are here educating people, including myself. 👏🏻

Exactly. How irritating. I needed to watch this video, but I won't be watching any others because of that.
We bought our red heeler pup in Indiana at 5 weeks (seperated from momma immediately after birth, reason unknown) but brought him home 1 week later after the litters first round of shots... turns out the whole litter of 5 caught parvo during that vet visit. Thankfully we noticed something was off with his behavior and hes now 6 years old spioled rotten and has SEVERE seperation anxiety. Over the years ive thought if shelters or rescues just wait another week they could make sure that pup is going home to a family prepared for that pups attitude health issues and overall personality. Our baby got lucky he landed with us who not always have the funds for a complete blood transfusion but had saved up for possibilities. Bless all who have the heart to adopt. I just ask everyone have a lil nest egg in case that baby gets ill (or in our case comes home ill right of the bat)... my bad didnt make clear that I personally feel his seperation anxiety and twice daily freak outs when either me or his Daddy leaves is caused by the very personal (i held him close so he could feel my heartbeat) bottle feeding when he was lil. I know this is a l out ng comment i apologize. Im hoping yall keep putting good knowledge out there

My boxer just had her 1st litter and I'm not letting them go until 8 weeks. I did bring my girl home at just 7wks BUT she was the biggest butterball in the litter and I happened to be driving through the town she was in a week early so the breeder let me pick her on up. She was ready, she learned everything super fast and even uses the buttons to tell me what she wants now!! My daughter in law got a puppy at 3-4wks old and they've had such a time with her. She's 3yrs old now and still just so hyper and doesn't play well with other dogs.
I think some say wait until 12 weeks because the personality can be seen better with dogs. Especially for working dogs

Im getting a new puppy and I'm really looking forward to getting my new puppy and getting her adjusted to the family and old dog and cat .the cat and dog both came to us at 6 week's and both fitted in well with the family, the cat got its social finishing f4om the dog and old cat we had at the time ,I was going to wait long with the cat but when I went to pick her she was in a bad situation, so it was easier to take her there and then or bring food for the mother and brother ,and I really didn't want to go back to the drug den. This new puppy is at a farm and they bread Huskies and have a border collie that im getting a pup from no papers but pure bread im getting her at 8 weeks as 6 weeks was to early and my dog had real socal issues with other dogs.

Hey I agree, I keep my pups until 10 to 12 weeks because my English cockers ( smallish breed) benefit.. .. yes my mothers will correct the babies, but they don’t need mom for nutrition, or all the time... they spend time learning eating, crating, potty training, ect. My first gsp was 4 yo, second 7 weeks, third 5 years old... seems there is always a gsp needing a home with a field or 2.

I gotvmy dog atv6 weeks old and they also spayed her at 6 weeks old. She is 6 months old now and she bites constantly so hard. She's about 46 pounds already. She's definitely isn't in tune with my energy like my other dogs always were. I gotbher rom a rescue and the ppl rushed everyone to take their puppies at 6 weeks. It does make a difference! Those ppl really did my dog wrong. Now I have to deal with this maniac dog.
I bought my puppy at 5wks old and I’m in Pa they had all kinds of excuses and I felt bad so I took him😢 supposedly that was their last litter and I really hope so

We got a puppy at 4 week old from a Facebook market place they said he was 8 weeks we took him and he died 3 days later!

Not even 7 weeks. A pup should not be taken from its mother before 8 weeks.
