Mine just arrived today. I’m very impressed. I’m an engineer and am very critical of design. It’s very well made and fit flawlessly- just slid right on with some light tapping. I need new rings now since my SWFA is in a cantilevered AR mount and now its way too tall.
I wish they would release a 0 moa rail... I am shooting 20-100 yards for squirrels with a cz457. Its kind of overkill to have a 15 or 30 moa rail. with 0 moa it would be much easier to set a zero and calculate drop with just my scope instead of dialing
So far I like it. The more I use it, the more I realize the level on the backside is out of my field of view on the rifle. I plan on doing a follow up on that. Still really like the rail though :-D
how did you decide 30moa vs 15moa? I use my CZ for 22PRS but locally we don't go past 200. Right now i'm using a simmons whiletail classic in 6.5-20 mil-dot scope with BKL rings so I can't/don't dial. Looking to upgrade scope here soon so while the new scope will have a christmas tree reticle in it I expect to be dialing more, or at least have the option
I have a 455 Tacticool with a Nikon 4-16 x 42 scope. I'm thinking of adding this scope base. What would you zero at if you wanted to shoot 200-250 yards? Thanks.
I would try to zero at 50 actually. Most consumer grade scopes are around a 40moa adjustment range which you may or may not be able to fully leverage. I have no experience with that scope, but I'd probably get the 15 moa base to give you a better chance of getting your zero down far enough. If you cant zero at 50 then do a 100. Either way, your limitation is going to be how far down you can adjust the scope, not up believe it or not. Looking at my load data for Lapua CenterX, with a 50yard zero, I have to come up 10.4mil (~94 inches) which would be a little over 33 moa for 250yards I believe.
Brian Mackey You bet. I've had this one a couple years. If I were doing it now, I actually would probably go with the 4-20 and save a few dollars. Image clarity goes down pretty severely on the one I have on anything over 20x and, unless I'm paper punching (rare), I hardly ever go over 15x. They have more than enough elevation for most folks. I cant recall off the top of my head how much but I have gone to 400 yards with mine and didnt bottom out. The SCR reticle is enough for most tactical 22lr shooting like what’s done in the NRL22. They also have the H591 but I think it'd be a little much for these tiny bullets. Tracking has been good and the eye box is generous. Now the bad…image quality is lacking but I’m comparing that to GenII Razors so that’s not really fair. Burris has had quality control issues in the past. I got two good ones so I count myself as lucky. Some people have gotten ones that didn’t track or had a blueish tint / haze to the image. From what I’ve seen, Burris will stand by their product and make it right but, if you pick one of these up, I would at least want to run a tracking test. The parallax only goes down to 50 yards which is a bummer. For NRL22, there will be 25yard engagements at tiny targets. On the bright side, mine doesn’t seem to suffer from parallax shift or anything like that. Overall, I’ve been happy. Its done what it needs to do. I'd also look at the Vortex Gen II PST...same price point, good company, same features.

Did they give you a torque setting for the screws for the base ?
I cant recall to be honest. I think i used red loctite and set it at 45ft lbs. The same as i use on my ring bases.
Do they make it 0 moa?
They do not. They have 15 moa and 30 moa versions.
What scope are you running on the 455? Thanks
That was a Vortex HST (mrad).
I now have a Burris XTR II SCR 5-25 (mrad) that will probably stay.
